Warnings: The Heroes and a party. What could possibly go wrong?

On November 5, another letter from Johnny would go out to everyone reminding them of the costume party, and invite all the newbies along as well. Costumes are a necessity for entrance, except for the newbies, since they've only been here a little over 24 hours now.

The Observatory is in its usual party set up, but this time with an added stage area for any musicians who would like to perform. It's also the spot set up for the costume contest later on. The whole place is covered in festive Night of the 13 Moogles decorations, and as always, there's plenty of food and drinks.

[Reno vaguely recognized Mordecai from across the room. He'd organized the trip into the sewer. And apparently, he was a bartender -- sweet.]

Hey -- whatcha' got?

[He didn't know Johnny's budget, he wasn't about to ask for anything ridiculous until he knew what was available.]

[Once a bartender always a bartender. The Barkeep greets Reno with a smile.]

What's most popular at the Space Saloon. I got the local rotgut, wine, and some cream and spices for whatever mixed you want.

[Reno assumed "local" meant Aqures Ixen, and he wasn't too sure about what that was -- not that he hadn't probably already drank the local rotgut, but he was probably already drunk at the time and couldn't remember. And he definitely wasn't going to carry around a wine glass.]

Ah, ge'me an Old Fashioned, yeah?

[That seemed to stay the same regardless of World.]

[They have Space Old Fashioned on Mars, and for some reason, that brad carries over to other dimensions. The Barkeep pours a shot for Reno in a small, decorated glass.]

Now I do ask for somethin' in exchange for my services, but for a party like this, I can lower the price to, say, any news on life here since we last met. How's life now that the ghosts are gone?

[Reno grinned. Was this real life?]

I could live with this deal.

[Reno loved to gossip, certainly, but there were some things he'd have to keep to himself. Namely, things that involved certain other Hero parties... Oh how he wished Rude were here, if only to tell someone he trusted about the night spent with a certain horned musician.]

Besides fightin' for my life at the hospital last week? Been makin' pretty good headway crackin' Palitutu's computer system. Slowly -- but definitely happening, at least.

That's good news, Reno. Ain't exactly gossip, but somethin' that makes the past month feel not as bad.

[He would have preferred to know more about his relationship with Johnny, since those things have a tendency to end interestingly, if not happily.]

Didja find anythin' worth mentionin' there? Or is this "matter of national security" kinda stuff?

[Ah. So Barkeep was looking for something a little more after all. Reno couldn't say he was surprised. He would be in Barkeep's place.]

Heh. [He chuckled softly and put his glass down on the bar.] You been talkin' t' Yuffie, huh?

[Girl couldn't seem to shut her trap.]

As far as the crystals? At least the latest countdown program Tutu's got runnin' only seems t' relate t' when new Heroes show up -- thankfully not more time loops.

Well, can't say where I heard anythin' from. [He he shakes a finger at Reno and smiles. Gossips need some code of honor.] And gossip about other folks is perfectly acceptable payment.

Hm. You know when they're comin' next?

[Reno grinned. The Barkeep could keep a secret. That was good to know.]

Let's just say, for now, it's been a lotta fun gettin' t' know yer friend over there. He's a good guy. An' he really knows what he's doin' with his instrument.

[Hurr hurr.]

As for the next Heroes. [He took a sip of his drink.] If this month is any indication, it looks like the crystal 'll spit out another batch in January.

[He'd been kind of avoiding the new Heroes and the temple for now, listening only to the news of others regarding the arrivals.]

[The Barkeep eyes Johnny, standing to the side of the room and chatting it up with someone else. Oh, he knows what Reno is implying. He definitely knows.]

I take it you two are gettin' along real well, you two. [He hopes you guys stay together for a while. He wants to see love flourish.] We could always use a bit more positive energy /round these parts.

January, huh. [He folds his hands to his chin and thinks.] So soon after the New Year celebrations. Well, I still should be able to welcome 'em all even after cleanup. It's about time I joined in on the welcome committee.

Positive energy, huh? Yeah, probably.

[He glanced back at Johnny and his smile softened. Things had been a bit sloppy, a lot drunk, and a little awkward, but... Johnny had been a good friend to have.]

Welcome committee?

[Reno looked back at the barkeep and tried not to scoff.]

There's an official thing now?

[A small fist pump.] Positive energy! [He returns to his regular demeanor.] Can't save the world if we can't get along.

Ain't an official one, just a group of heroes that greet newcomers, and welcome 'em, and show them around town, that's all. Better than to let them be confused and ask all sortsa questions and end up learnin' different things.
