better late than never
Who: Everyone!
What: A week late Halloween celebration.
Where: The Observatory
When: Friday, Nov. 6, 7:00 PM
Warnings: The Heroes and a party. What could possibly go wrong?
On November 5, another letter from Johnny would go out to everyone reminding them of the costume party, and invite all the newbies along as well. Costumes are a necessity for entrance, except for the newbies, since they've only been here a little over 24 hours now.
The Observatory is in its usual party set up, but this time with an added stage area for any musicians who would like to perform. It's also the spot set up for the costume contest later on. The whole place is covered in festive Night of the 13 Moogles decorations, and as always, there's plenty of food and drinks.
[[This is just a general mingle log, and a good way for the new Heroes to meet everyone, so post whatever and have fun!]]

B.
I'm sure you'll figure it out Ven. You're really smart and feelings aren't the sort of thing you can rush.
[She lightly taps his heart.]
Just listen here.
[She hopes that it's really okay but she'll believe him.]
Why don't we find a place to sit and play some cards? I can teach you some games if you want?
B.
Right. It'll work out. [Things always do, as long as there's effort put forth. He's not sure what kind of effort he can make in this situation, but Yuna's right about one thing: he needs to listen to his heart, first and foremost. The rest will fall into place as it's meant to.]
Sure! I don't really know any card games besides Triple Triad, actually. But I'd like to learn! [Board games are more his forte, but he's always open to learning new things.]
B. want to hand wave them playing? or more awkward and go fish?
I can teach you poker? Or we can play go fish.
[One is significantly easier but either way they don’t have to play for stakes of any kind.]
B. hnnghhh I'm up for doing more if you are :'D I love me some awkward
He sits across from her, looking at said cards as he considers.]
I've heard of poker before, but I don't really know what it's about. Either's fine by me!
B. Awkward AWAY~
[She likes it a little bit more. The rules she knows with poker involves betting on something and she isn't sure what Ven might want in that regard. Go-fish seemed safer.]
I'll deal 7 cards each and the rest go in the fish pond!
[Yuna's getting to excited.]
The goal is to make pairs. The one with the most at the end wins.
B. yesssss \o/
[He knows that's not a LITERAL name -- probably?? -- but still, it's puzzling.]
B. >.<
[She points down to where she's spread out the rest of the deck.]
Maybe the pairs are called fishes?
B
He takes up his cards, looking over them.]
So... if we don't have any pairs, we take more cards from the pond?
B
[Yuna takes a pair of two’s from her hand and lays them out for Ven to see.]
That’s one for me.
[She smiles brightly.]
Okay, so the turn progresses like this: you ask me for a number. Let’s say I’m going first. I’d ask you if you have a 7. Don’t tell me! [She quickly adds, this is just an example and she doesn’t want to know what’s in his hand yet.] I mean… you have to answer if you do and give it to me but don’t tell me now because it’s an example. If you don’t have it you say, “go fish.” And then I pick up a card from the pond. If I get a pair I get to go again. However, after three pairs in a row it automatically goes to the next persons turn.
Make sense?
B
So what if one of us runs out of cards? Does it end?
B
[She holds up her cards with a smile so that Ven can't see the numbers hidden within her hands.]
You go first.
B
[He looks at his hand, frowning slightly when he finds no pairs to start off with. Boo.] Do you... have any queens?
[Pause.]
Like that?
[IS THAT HOW YOU DO IT]
B
Just like that.
[She passes over the card with a smile.]
You get to go again.
B
He takes the card, belatedly realizes that the table doesn't help much (read: at all) in concealing the upper half of Yuna's
lack of anoutfit, and hesitates a moment before quickly looking down at his cards again because he does not want to make her feel bad again--!!He scoots his chair over slightly, trying to make it look as natural as possible -- really, he's trying to angle himself so that Yuna's hands and card are blocking his view.]
Um... how about sevens?
B
At his next question she smiles.]
Go fish!
B
Your turn! So is poker anything like this?
[So clueless.]
B
No, poker is a betting game but since we have nothing to bet I thought this might be better.
[She can think of many different things people bet but it doesn't really feel appropriate.]
Do you have any Queens?
B
He shakes his head with a smile.] Go fish!
B
I got it!
Do you have any Ace's?
B
Ven looks as though he's going to say something, decides against it, and instead just puts his chin in his hand as he stares intently at his cards. Just his cards. And it takes him a moment to realize that he does in fact have one.]
Oh -- uh -- yeah. [He plucks it from his other cards and slides it over, without looking up. Go again, friend!]
B
What about… 5’s?
[Her outfit is now very far from her thoughts though it isn’t hard to tell that Ven is focusing intently at his cards. Her head tilts to the side for a moment.]
Your cards aren’t going to walk away Ven.
B
[...wait, she said fives--]
Oh, wait! [He slides one over.] Sorry 'bout that.
B
You okay?
[Maybe it'd be better if she walked him home?]
B
Yeah, sorry. I, uh... maybe I... overdid it on stage or something.
[...How that's possible, we just don't know. But there's got to be some reason he's so unsettled, right?]
B
[Her voice is gentle and understanding. She doesn't want for him to over work himself.]
B
B
B
B
B
End?
end!
