[He stops strumming and for a moment looks blindsided by that question. Talk about unexpected. But he can take a few guesses as to where this question was coming from. He turns to her, brow furrowed.]

'The hell kinda question is that? Why should I explain to you?

[Yuffie shrugs.]

You don't have too. It isn't really you I was wondering about but I don't think Reno will tell me.

[She's annoyed that the stupid Turk doesn't think she's sexy but tails after every other person and their mother. She assumes that it's because he's gay, she's never seen Reno go after girls besides his usually flirty self so she's curious.]

Oh, and one of my friends said you were cute.

[Yuffie takes another bite from her fruit talking as if all this is normal.]

[Johnny gives her a flat expression. What sort of high school level bullshit is this?]

I ain't speakin' for someone else's preferences. But if it'll get ya off my back, I'm fine with either girls or guys.

[He seems to choose his words carefully. This is actually the first time he's ever admitted that out loud.

Her last statement doesn't get a response, just a mistrustful look.]

[Yuffie hums softly as she inspects her apple. The way she looks over the glossy skin of the fruit suggests that it’s the most interesting damn apple she’s ever seen. She takes another bite, this one smaller so she can talk and chew at the same time.]

Don’t get your panties in a twist. I didn’t think you’d answer. That’s pretty cool though. I wanted to know about Reno cuz he’s from Gaia and is into everyone under the sun. [Except Yuffie and her ego just can’t take that.] I wonder what it would be like to date another girl.

[Girls are generally annoying but Yuffie supposed it might be interesting. Only if they were grumpy, Yuffie really likes grumpy people.]

Dunno what it's like where yer from, but it ain't the kinda thing ya just wander up to someone and ask out loud 'n in public, okay? Personal shit.

I wouldn't know. Never dated anyone long term. Or, like, at all. [Meliantha immediately comes to his mind, and he looks distant for a moment. Opportunities lost, forever. He busies himself with tuning his guitar while he talks, so he doesn't have to make eye contact with Yuffie.] But whatever. It's a bad idea to go 'round dating people in a place where we can turn into crystal indefinitely at any time. Was the same way in Exsilium, since people just disappeared outta nowhere there. Time's weird like that.

[Yuffie watches him for a long moment before rocking back, her heels lightly tap against the ground as a depressed sigh left her lips.

So much for teasing.]

So you really think, since we are here, that we shouldn't form attachments? What if they are from your world? Like Reno's from mine. [She doesn't know from when but he is.]

A lot have people have been telling me, that if I like someone I should go for it. [Not Reno but someone else, not that Yuffie is known for elaborating. She looks over at Johnny curiously. She wants to settle this and make him smile so she can go back to teasing him.]

Ain't met anyone I know yet. If someone here is from my world, we might not ever figure it out. Worlds are big places.

And I ain't sayin' you should keep distant from everyone. Just... be prepared for the time when ya might never see 'em ever again. [Because he'll never be over losing Blaine and Mel.]

I can see thinkin' that way. Take yer chance before ya lose it, that sorta thing. But... It already happened to me once, when I had to leave Exsilium. I don't wanna go through it again here.

[He looks at her now, and shrugs, trying to act like it's nothing. He's really a hypocrite, though. Try as he might, he can't help but get involved with the people here. He's not the lone wolf he thinks he is.]

So what are you going to do?

[She doesn't remember him saying one way or the other. He just sort of mentioned the two options as if stating that they had two options. Yuffie is beginning to make up her mind about all that but its taking more time than she thought.]

Get close to people and not form attachments.

[Like it's not obvious that him and Reno are into each other.]

[He starts to say something, and stops. It's complicated, okay?]

I... don't know. I keep tellin' myself what a bad idea it is, but keep doin' it anyway. I guess I'm just dumb or somethin'.

[It's nice to hear him admit that he's dumb and Yuffie is likely to bring that up later.]

Is that so?

[She takes another bite of her apple and then watches Johnny for a long moment. She might be trying to make him get uncomfortable, that or she's just being weird.]

Yeah. So what of it.

[He finishes up tuning, ready to play again. He gives Yuffie a raised eyebrow.]

So are you done interrogating me, or is there somethin' else.

[Yuffie shrugs before lifting herself to her feet. Is there something else? Maybe but it hasn't come to mind just yet.]

You're sorta cute when you're grumpy but no, there is nothing else.

[She waves a hand before turning and tossing her apple into a trash can. It's a pretty awesome shot since Yuffie isn't even looking and it's obvious that she's probably practiced that just to nail down the perfect 'looking cool while walking away' technique.]
