Late with Starbucks...
[Alice is staring at the union building with an amused smile. There are moogles gathered near the building, talking about upcoming strikes. She pauses to listen, shaking her head in amusement.]
I guess some things are the same everywhere...
Shopping~
[Access to a new continent means access to new books, supplies, and any number of practical things that could be prove very useful. It also pays to check the prices of certain items, just to see how the line up with O'aka. And Alice focuses on those things first.
But that doesn't stop her from wistfully staring into the window of a clothing shop. On display is a frilly, feminine dress full of lace and bows. The sort of thing Lorina always wore. She's smiling, but there's a bittersweet edge to it. It's also not like Alice to just space out in the middle of a crowded street. Bother her?]
Mogshop
[It looks like Graham was here to check this place out, and was now deep in thought about moogle culture. Of which he knows nothing about.]
no subject
It could have something to do with their culture I guess. But the strikes in Aqures Ixen always seem to get ignored, so I wonder if the problem is more that their concerns are never addressed.

[She taps her chin thoughtfully.]
I agree that the conditions the moogles are working under do need to be more closely examined, but I'm not really sure who has the authority to do that. And I imagine things will change anyway, once they elect a new leader.
no subject
[He shrugs. That's about the extent of Graham's attention span for most things.]
But I guess some things are the same, no matter where you go! Even on a continent that's been closed off from the outside world for who knows how long.
no subject
Well, you're right about that. We have enough problems with our own politics without worrying about the moogles.
[And she can sense that he's done with that topic, so moving right along.]
So how are you enjoying Mysidia, Graham?
no subject
[He's bounced back from being a big whiny baby on the airship. At least he didn't turn into a big whiny destructive baby, and the ship survived.]
It's fascinating that a whole society would cut themselves off from the rest of the world for so long, and then one day drop the metaphorical gates. I'm still assuming there's an ulterior motive here that isn't just good will and olive branch-extending, but I'll be prepared for if that happens!
[He says this pleasantly, while not-so-subtly slapping his wrench off of his hand in a menacing manner.]
no subject
It is interesting to see how different this place is. But I don't think they could have remained isolated for much longer in any case. We can't expect the calamity to stay dormant forever.
[And eventually it would reach the people here. It only makes sense for them to support efforts to stop it before the threat is at their doorstep.]

[Not that she has much faith in the empire having sense.]
Actually, since the research on magic here is much more advanced, I'm hoping we can gain some insight into the calamity while we're here.
Shopping
Hey Alice! That one would look pretty good on you, don't you think?
[It's said before she gets a better look at her face, though, and then Levy's expression changes to one of concern.]
...Alice?
Re: Shopping
Oh, sorry, Levy. I was a little out of it. What were you saying?
Shopping
The dress. It's pretty.
Re: Shopping
[She looks back at it with a wry smile.]
It reminds me of the sort of thing my sister always wears.
[The sort of thing that suited a beautiful, elegant girl like Lorina.]
Re: Shopping
[Levy looks curiously at the dress, and then at Alice's expression for a moment.]
Did the two of you get along?
no subject
[Her smile turns fond, and a little sad.]
She was really the only one at home who understood me at all. My younger sister and I never got along after mother died, and father just buried himself in his work, but Lorina was always there for me.

[She has so many complicated sister feels. She really does admire her but can't quite talk about her without sounding a little sad. She glances back at the dress.]
Lorina would look beautiful in anything, but frilly, feminine things like that really suit her.
no subject
I'm friends with a pair of sisters at home who were separated across worlds for years... don't worry, I'm sure you'll see her again.
no subject
Thank you. I still don't know how I can go home, but there has to be a way.
[She just has to keep believing that.]
no subject
Right. And if you keep looking, I'm sure you'll find it.
no subject
Or one of us will. We've got a lot of people here looking for a way home, right? Eventually someone has to figure it out.

[She's teasing. Alice knows that most of the heroes have been working hard.]
