Late with Starbucks...

Mogshop Union building~

[Alice is staring at the union building with an amused smile. There are moogles gathered near the building, talking about upcoming strikes. She pauses to listen, shaking her head in amusement.]

I guess some things are the same everywhere...

Shopping~

[Access to a new continent means access to new books, supplies, and any number of practical things that could be prove very useful. It also pays to check the prices of certain items, just to see how the line up with O'aka. And Alice focuses on those things first.

But that doesn't stop her from wistfully staring into the window of a clothing shop. On display is a frilly, feminine dress full of lace and bows. The sort of thing Lorina always wore. She's smiling, but there's a bittersweet edge to it. It's also not like Alice to just space out in the middle of a crowded street. Bother her?]

Mogshop

I'm starting to think moogles everywhere just don't like working. Or have a different idea of work than everyone else. Maybe this is just a cultural problem? Some sort of miscommunication? If the moogles from our land talk with these moogles, would they convince them into striking even more, or worse, vice versa!?

[It looks like Graham was here to check this place out, and was now deep in thought about moogle culture. Of which he knows nothing about.]
playing_hearts: (questioning)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-11-28 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Alice shrugs.]

It could have something to do with their culture I guess. But the strikes in Aqures Ixen always seem to get ignored, so I wonder if the problem is more that their concerns are never addressed.
bright_and_blue: (listen to me say things)

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-11-29 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
This is this only form of communication this world has! It's communication that's the backbone of a society. You'd think they'd get treated better. [Graham worked long enough in a factory and lost that job to the Depression, so he feels for the common worker, okok.] Though he moogles here should realize how good they have it. The ones who work for us have several continents and countries to deliver to, while the ones here are limited to only this one. Things like this are a matter of perspective!
playing_hearts: (Let's think this through)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-11-30 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...

[She taps her chin thoughtfully.]

I agree that the conditions the moogles are working under do need to be more closely examined, but I'm not really sure who has the authority to do that. And I imagine things will change anyway, once they elect a new leader.

Ah, an election! Practicing democracy! Letting fate fall into the hands of the people. [This gets a grand gesture with his wrench to accompany it.] Well then, it's up to them! And plus I don't have time to get involved in moogle politics, for what little time we have here.

[He shrugs. That's about the extent of Graham's attention span for most things.]

But I guess some things are the same, no matter where you go! Even on a continent that's been closed off from the outside world for who knows how long.
playing_hearts: (Happy to see you)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-02 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Sigh.]

Well, you're right about that. We have enough problems with our own politics without worrying about the moogles.

[And she can sense that he's done with that topic, so moving right along.]

So how are you enjoying Mysidia, Graham?
bright_and_blue: (talking profile)

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-12-03 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Once I got over the heartache of being banned from the engine room of the airship, I have to say, I'm enjoying myself. Who knew that merely weeks into being dropped into one new continent and world to explore, that I'd have the opportunity to do it all over again. It's exhilarating! It's a privilege for us and for them.

[He's bounced back from being a big whiny baby on the airship. At least he didn't turn into a big whiny destructive baby, and the ship survived.]

It's fascinating that a whole society would cut themselves off from the rest of the world for so long, and then one day drop the metaphorical gates. I'm still assuming there's an ulterior motive here that isn't just good will and olive branch-extending, but I'll be prepared for if that happens!

[He says this pleasantly, while not-so-subtly slapping his wrench off of his hand in a menacing manner.]

[Banning Graham from the engine room was probably a very good decision and Alice is suddenly grateful to whoever made it. But probably it's best not to mention that.]

It is interesting to see how different this place is. But I don't think they could have remained isolated for much longer in any case. We can't expect the calamity to stay dormant forever.

[And eventually it would reach the people here. It only makes sense for them to support efforts to stop it before the threat is at their doorstep.]
bright_and_blue: (calm)

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-12-07 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed! Eventually, the Calamity would come crashing down on them. If it didn't take the whole continent at once, then next, the Empire rolls in and takes over whatever's left. Another point in their favor! But we got here first. So that's something. They should also consider themselves lucky that it was us that got here first, then.

playing_hearts: (staring)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-12 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
If the empire has any sense at all, they'll be looking for ways to keep the calamity at bay instead of invading anyone.

[Not that she has much faith in the empire having sense.]

Actually, since the research on magic here is much more advanced, I'm hoping we can gain some insight into the calamity while we're here.

Shopping

[personal profile] scriptrix 2015-11-28 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Levy's deep into the shopping district by this point too, and smiles as she jogs on up to join her friend.]

Hey Alice! That one would look pretty good on you, don't you think?

[It's said before she gets a better look at her face, though, and then Levy's expression changes to one of concern.]

...Alice?

[Alice blinks in surprise as her mind comes back to the present. She'd been so lost in her thoughts she hadn't even seen Levy arrive.]

Oh, sorry, Levy. I was a little out of it. What were you saying?
scriptrix: (curious)

Shopping

[personal profile] scriptrix 2015-12-01 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Levy hesitates for a moment.]

The dress. It's pretty.

Re: Shopping

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-02 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... Yes.

[She looks back at it with a wry smile.]

It reminds me of the sort of thing my sister always wears.

[The sort of thing that suited a beautiful, elegant girl like Lorina.]
scriptrix: (curious)

Re: Shopping

[personal profile] scriptrix 2015-12-02 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Your sister, huh...

[Levy looks curiously at the dress, and then at Alice's expression for a moment.]

Did the two of you get along?
playing_hearts: (smile)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-06 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[Her smile turns fond, and a little sad.]

She was really the only one at home who understood me at all. My younger sister and I never got along after mother died, and father just buried himself in his work, but Lorina was always there for me.
scriptrix: (Default)

[personal profile] scriptrix 2015-12-07 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
She sounds like a great sister. You must really miss her.
playing_hearts: (contemplating)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-12 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
She is. She's the reason I have to make it home someday.

[She has so many complicated sister feels. She really does admire her but can't quite talk about her without sounding a little sad. She glances back at the dress.]

Lorina would look beautiful in anything, but frilly, feminine things like that really suit her.
scriptrix: (confident)

[personal profile] scriptrix 2015-12-13 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Levy smiles, nodding, thinking she understands what's going on here.]

I'm friends with a pair of sisters at home who were separated across worlds for years... don't worry, I'm sure you'll see her again.
playing_hearts: (cute little bunny)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-14 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Alice blinks in surprise for a second. In Wonderland, everyone had always just urged her to forget her home and her family. To give up on seeing them again. She's come to expect that answer. So Levy's words are touching.]

Thank you. I still don't know how I can go home, but there has to be a way.

[She just has to keep believing that.]
scriptrix: (gameface)

[personal profile] scriptrix 2015-12-14 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fairy Tail wizards never give up on anything, ever. Levy would have some words with anyone who ever told Alice that.]

Right. And if you keep looking, I'm sure you'll find it.
playing_hearts: (smirk)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-17 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
[In fairness to them, they did have their reasons. Not that they shared them with Alice, but they had them.]

Or one of us will. We've got a lot of people here looking for a way home, right? Eventually someone has to figure it out.
scriptrix: (confident)

[personal profile] scriptrix 2015-12-17 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true. I've seen amazing things happen when a whole group of people all puts their minds to the same task.
playing_hearts: (smirk)

[personal profile] playing_hearts 2015-12-17 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Now if only we could convince everyone to 'put their minds to the task.'

[She's teasing. Alice knows that most of the heroes have been working hard.]
