Of course, kupo. [She gives Ven a weary look when he doesn't so much as stir.] He overdid himself. More than usual, kupo.
C
It is exciting to have somewhere new to explore, admittedly.
[…not that you can probably tell from her face. Between one thing and another (mostly the talk with the Sage), her enthusiasm's dimmed rather.]
I'm glad he has you to keep an eye on him, at least. Do you have a room?
C
[Ven stirs with a quiet grumble, and then yawns as he sits up. It takes him a moment to realize where he is, remember where he is, and then to notice Rae, and finally K'pandolu.]
Oh... hi! [Another yawn, this time covered, and then he shakes his head.] When'd you get here?
C
[really, if Ven hadn't woken she'd have offered to carry him, but she's glad he's woken.]
Long enough to worry that might end up cold before you drank it. [she indicates the drink, one ear tilted in amusement.]
C
Oh... heh. How long have I been asleep?
About half an hour, kupo.
Oh. Right. ["Whoops" is what he means. But enough of that! Friend is here.]
What d'you think of the town, K'pandolu? Neat, isn't it?
Re: C
It sounds as though you needed it.
[her ears fall a little, but she nods, tilting her head to one side for a moment.]
It is. It's… a little like home, I suppose. [at least with the mix of Heroes and Elezen. And maybe a little like Ul'dah, when the beast tribes could still enter the city… That was well before she arrived there, though.] I'm curious about what they might have dug up outside of town. Did you find anything that sparked your interest in particular?
Re: C
At the question, he perks up.]
Yeah! I found the gaming center a few hours ago. I was there for a while.
[Rae shoots him a look -- he was there for more than "a while" -- but says nothing before returning to her book.
Ven either misses it or ignores it.] Have you been there yet?
C
[she makes kind of a helpless face at that- she's not sure she gets it, but she saw a few of the other Heroes sticking around there. And yeah, how long is that 'a while' exactly…]
I have, yes. There's a lot to occupy people there, isn't there?
C
Are there any other similarities to where you come from?
[Thinking back to the gaming center, he suddenly looks curious.]
Yeah. It's funny, though... I've read about different technology, and I saw some after I left home the first time -- my real home, I mean, not where I live now -- and some of it was pretty fancy stuff. But the machines they have here... well, I guess it's a little strange that they're so...
Advanced, kupo?
Yeah, advanced. Since Aqures doesn't have anything close to it. [Just Palitutu's computer, but who knows where she actually got that thing.] But maybe it's like the people; the different continents developed differently.
[Like isolated worlds do.]
C
Well- there's the Crystals- though there aren't any so large as the ones in the Temples, and I rather feel there's a certain lack of the smaller kinds. The system of jobs is similar, partially, too…
[she flicks her ears forward, interesting.]
You did?
[ah, but the matter of Ancient technology is a bit more immediate.]
Perhaps so- and it's interesting that they've turned it mostly to entertainment, isn't it? Particularly when you consider what I've heard- that the creatures outside are that much more dangerous than the monsters we see around Aqures Ixen.
C
Yeah. I mean, everybody says the Empire's advanced, and they put that into their weapons. [He doesn't know about the day-to-day technology over there, but he can... attest to the effectiveness of their weaponry, you could say. Yeah. Still has the scar from that one.] I didn't hear that about the monsters, though. Are they really that dangerous here?
C
[if they're as much like the Garlean Empire as she thinks they are, the rest of their technology's probably pretty advanced, too.
She shrugs, palms up.]
I can't say that I've stepped out to see yet, and the other adventurers could be exaggerating… But dragon zombies were mentioned at least once, and I'm inclined to err on the side of caution there, at the least.
