Player Plot: The Mysidian Tower!

Who: Everyone who signed up for the plot!
What: Jade is taking a team to explore the Mysidian Tower before it'd swallowed by the Calamity.
When: February 8th-12th
Where: The Mysidian Tower on the Continent of Ruin.
Warning: Everything that can be expected of surprise monster encounters. Beyond that, whatever people bring with them.

The Enterprise brings everyone involved to the tower on the afternoon of February 8th. Thankfully the early floors have already been cleared by previous explorers, making the initial entry easy and relatively safe. Once the Heroes start reaching the upper floors, however... Who knows?

[Sonic stood there, thinking it over a bit before turning to Kidd and asking...]

How long can you hold it? I got my speed back... [And he cracks his knuckles] Getting up there should be a piece of cake!

[Yuffie follows the collection of heroes raising an eyebrow at them. She has her ninja job equipped and one cool ability that it gives her is the ability to walk on ceilings and walls. It doesn't look sturdy but she might be able to get up there and lower a rope or something.]

I can walk up the wall?

[Not that it looks very sturdy but it's at least holding up the floor above it so there is that.]

Do we have rope or something that can be dropped down? It isn't very helpful if only a few people can get up.

[Yuffie has some rope but not enough for something like this.]

[While the others are considering the unstable staircase, Sephiroth remains back from the group a little as the soldiers he's brought up this time fan around the floor. Arms folded and with an eyebrow rising beneath silver bangs as he overhears the others talking.

Whether one goes up and helps the others one by one to climb (which would take a lot work each time, and considering the risks...) or they decided to stabilize what was already there a little in order to make it safer, it's clear they're going to need to find something to use...or re-purpose.

Sephiroth moves over towards where there is an arrangement of debris left from the abandoned construction of this floor and starts to inspect what he can see. Perhaps some of the scaffolding might be still strong enough to support weight?]

Long enough I hope. I can also cast Haste on you to give you a bit more time. [She isn't sure what speed Sonic boasts, but she trusts in her ally to know his own skills.]

I'll do it if you want to take the risk, but Yuffie is right. It would defeat the purpose if we get split up here. And also likely be very dangerous. [She doesn't care how empty the tower has seemed up to this point. It didn't actually make this place any less potentially dangerous.]

And we won't get anywhere if we don't take bigger risks! Trust me, I'll be fine - I'm the fastest thing alive!

[Sonic seems overly confident in his skills here.]

[It would take a few moments for Kidd to cast each spell in succession, but at his comment she can't help but be curious. Haste is the first spell cast on the Hedgehog. Levitate and then Stop on the wall itself would soon follow unless someone interrupts them.]

[Yuffie looks over to what Sephiroth is doing. She doesn't much care for Sonic or his idea though perhaps it's because they think so much alike. She walks over towards the soldier peering at any materials that could be used.]

There might be stuff up there too.

[To use to reinforce the stares.]

[The scaffolding doesn't look promising, but there are some mostly intact pieces that could be extracted from the mess and hoisted under the stairs. Not so many that you could make a very intricate support out of it, but at least whatever metal it's made of seems durable, even after all these years.

Now, are the less patient Heroes willing to wait that long?]

[Albel looked at the walls, then the unstable staircase.]

Yuffie has a point.

[He'd finally learned her name since their time with amnesia on that island. Her presence was too powerful to ignore. That, and she really hated being called "You girl!"]

Those of us who can get up there can scout ahead, perhaps find something we can use to help the others. If nothing else, we can provide a front guard.

[He still had Ninja equipped, and maxed out. He and Yuffie could walk the walls, the ceilings, anything sturdy without regard to gravity. If Sonic really could run up fast enough, three would be a good scouting party.]

If more want to try going up there... I can cast Levitation as well. It would be better to split up our abilities so neither of us overexerts ourselves. [ She looks over to the others wanting to press forward, gauging just hoe much effort it would take and what they could afford when the structure was so precarious. ]

At least, I don't think it should be only one of us going up there to check ahead. [ And should something happen, the other person could still send back a signal or something. ]

[ In light of the effort that has been put into reaching this point, Ace finds himself leaning towards exercising patience rather than rushing into things headfirst. However, there are powerful spells being put in motion as they speak, proving that the minds of some of the Heroes have already been made.

In the end, he only allows himself a subtle, albeit skeptical frown as he watches the volunteers walk up. ]

That sounds like we almost have a plan.

[She's more used to rushing into things so plans are good.

Yuffie walks back towards the stairs and eyes sonic for a moment. After lightly rapping her knuckles against the wall she nods and proceeds to walk up it. She looks down at the ground and crosses her arms.]

Seems good from here.

[She's moving carefully and has enough skill to catch herself if something goes awry.]

[Watching Yuffie prepare herself, Kidd follows through on her own offering. Holding out her hands she channels her Time Magic and casts Stop over the scaffolding, careful not to contact the ninja herself with the spell's energy.

Through her concentration she casts a nod to Tear, thanking her for her offer. Gritting her teeth as she pours her energy into her own spell spell. She's not quite sure how much energy to put into it to keep the scaffolding steady but she's erring on the side of caution even if it will tire her out later. Hopefully Yuffie and Sonic will find something to help out the rest of them.]

[In the meantime, Sephiroth has turned a little from his position looking over one of the larger piles of scaffolding and debris left over, looking over his shoulder seemingly at the group of Heroes as Yuffie -and soon Sonic, more likely than not- would make their way up onto the next level regardless of how dangerous it might be. If there was something about what the Wutain Princess said though; they might well find something of more use on the next level.

Still, if no one else were to take it upon themselves to try and reinforce the stairs, well, someone had to do it. Not everyone was a Master Ninja or a speed-blessed blue hedgehog. With a drawn out breath out Sephiroth fully turns and approaches the group still gathered around the stairwell. Noting that Kidd and Tear, especially seem to be (or will be) working some support magic, he makes a point to make sure he doesn't knock them as he maneuvers himself forward through the group.

He reaches out and gently applies a little pressure to the base railing of the stairwell. If he's going to do this, he's going to need to know where best to place said sturdier bits of rubble.]

We'll be back soon. [Albel assured Sephiroth quietly. He had total faith in the silver-haired man to handle the tasks here.]

[He watched Yuffie go up first, looking out for any new instabilities in the walls. It seemed to hold well, and assured that he wouldn't have to catch her, he began his own ascent. He wasn't too sure about a hedgehog's abilities, but at least he could be confident in his own. Yuffie's weren't awful, either. The three of them should be fine as long as they didn't go too far from the stairs.]

[Some dirt comes falling from the stairs, but the Stop and Levitation spells seem to keep the stairs and scaffolding steady, long enough for the quicker Heroes to make their way up without an incident. There are some more pieces of scaffolding here, this time in a considerably better shape. They could probably be brought down to add decent support for the remaining Heroes.

On the other hand, looking at the condition of the next set of stairs and the missing chunks in the ceiling, the scaffolding would also be useful up here. Bring it downstairs or save it for the next floor?]

[Albel scowled at the next set of stairs. He should have expected as much.]

We can't split up any further. [By now, he knew even he couldn't handle everything by himself.] Save the lumber for the next set of stairs. Only use what's absolutely necessary to get the others up here.
