Love Springs Eternal (??)

Who: ERRYBODY
What: It's Valentine's Day, and there are matchmaking notices everywhere. Here's an open log for one and all to post their shenanigans, meet ups, freak outs, and whatever else they're going to do about this.
When: forward dated to Feb. 14
Where: All over Aqures Ixen
Warnings: Ridiculousness.

[Plastering the city are notices matching up all of the Heroes of Light with one another, both the best and the worst. Moogles are having a grand old time handing them out and hanging them up, and are encouraging Heroes to speak with their top matches.

Naturally, reactions to this are mixed. Some Heroes are intrigued, some annoyed, some offended. Despite their feelings or misgivings, the rest of the city is still celebrating Valentine's Day as well, and now the thoughts of love are everywhere.

OOC: This is an open log for everyone to use for Valentine's Day stuff! Feel free to make your own prompts.]
chondriosome: LOVE TO WATCH YOU LEAVE (hate to see you go)

She exhaled a sharp sigh. "That's what's so annoying about it. No one has any right to get into people's lives like that."

Because Aya was perfectly fine the way things were. Really. It wasn't like she needed a holiday to validate her state of singledom here.

"Right, I'll see you after work." She nodded once they reached the front doors of the precinct. Although they were headed to the same place, it was time to get her game face on.

Which was... pretty much the same face she always had.

At six o'clock, Sparks would indeed be at the pub nearby the precinct. It was often filled with off-duty officers, and today was no exception. It was a little more filled than normal due to the holiday, but Sparks managed to secure a set of barstools for the two of them.

He raised a glass of beer in greeting to her as she approached.

"I guess I shoulda known it was gonna be crowded. But, well, what can ya do. Valentine's Day, eh."

There's a slight smile with her nod as Aya slides into the neighboring barstool next to Sparks. "Honestly, I'm surprised that the people here celebrate it. Didn't think about sharing holidays with a whole other world."

On the bright side, she missed Christmas.

But now... She just going to start off with water before ordering anything.

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-02-18 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, see, that's the thing. They kinda do holidays we have back home. Reckon it's the influence of past Heroes from off-world. Though their version of Christmas is, like, more oppressive and invasive than anythin'. Like some kinda... Christmas virus. Look out or yer gonna catch the fever."

Sparks isn't anti-holiday, but he can only take so much.

"Crystallis is a weird place. I mean, there's worse planets out there, but sometimes this one is just... weird."
chondriosome: and I was really high. (it's just that you looked really gross)

[personal profile] chondriosome 2016-02-18 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great," Aya mutters, not very enthused by this news to say the least. "Like I didn't already hate Christmas enough."

It's not like she wants to dislike the holidays, she just... doesn't have a very good relationship with them. And they don't agree with her, either. It's a shame, really, since Eve was always excited at the prospect of that time of year.

She sighs, and takes a moment to order some food before she looks back to Sparks. "I haven't really visited other planets to be able to compare, but it's plenty weird for me. We don't have magic or friendly monsters where I'm from."

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-02-19 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Same. Lotta unfriendly monsters, though. Reckon some might take exception to bein' called that, though. Whatever. They ain't here." He shrugs. He'd probably say that even if they were there.

"Not that Crystallis is lackin' in the unfriendly department either. Y'know back 'round Halloween, we had to fight a grim reaper? A grim reaper. Like, how do you even fight that kinda thing."
chondriosome: right before my eyes. Dammit, Baldwin... (that's the sound of my career dying.)

[personal profile] chondriosome 2016-02-19 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
"At least I know unfriendly monsters. I used to fight them back home."

The history of Aya's Earth being much different from the type that Sparks is from, no doubt.

She frowns when he mentions Halloween. Aya never had any negative association with the holiday, but something like that would definitely start a complex. "You're kidding." She scoffs. "So how did it go?"
red_planet_blues: (another neutral one)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-02-19 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uuhh... we won?" Sparks was indisposed for most of the battle, but Rukia had filled him in on the outcome.

"It cheated. One second I'm standin' there, firin' at it; the next it uses some kinda death roulette move. And apparently I was the guy with all his money on black, cuz that's all I saw. Down I went, deader than a space doornail. Next thing I know, I'm wakin' up in the crystal ward and a whole week'd gone by."
chondriosome: oh hai pierce (anyway how is your sex life?)

[personal profile] chondriosome 2016-02-20 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Brows raised, Aya falls silent for a moment. It's not like she's never heard of the concept of people dying and coming back to this place before -- she's heard about it plenty already. But still, it can't be a pleasant experience.

Eventually, she finds her voice. "Wow, that's..." Unfortunate? "Good to know you were able to make it back that time."

She recalls the vision many of them shared, in which some people, in some possible future, are not so lucky.

"Eh, you know. Too much work to do. Can't keep me down for long."

He seems to be over it, anyway, raising his glass as a toast to his awesomeness. Despite the fact that every other slain Hero has come back from stasis in about a week, too.

"Got a planet to save so I can get back to the one I'm supposed to be workin' on."

She chuckles. "You don't say."

Small smile still plastered to her face, Aya tips her glass of... water.

Well, it's something.

"I can relate to that. Thankfully, though... humanity seems to be doing just fine on its own when I left it." Makes her feel less guilty about being here. It means that she can do what needs to be done and not worry about loose ends.

"I can't be too sure 'a Mars without me there. Who knows what's gone on since I'm gone." They'd be fine, but Sparks certainly doesn't think that way. Something occurs to him and he makes a face, though.

"Here's the thing, though. Y'know Barkeep? He's from Mars. I know him. He's supposed to be here from a few months ahead 'a me. But he said I was still there. He said I was--" Dating a totally awesome Troubleshooter. But that detail, while incredible to him, isn't important now. "He said I was still there. He thinks it's some sorta alternative universe nonsense. Like parallel dimensions, I guess. I dunno. He knows all about that sorta stuff, what with the Force Galactic powers he has 'n all. Well, had."

He shrugs. The multiverse is a weird place.
chondriosome: oh hai pierce (anyway how is your sex life?)

[personal profile] chondriosome 2016-03-02 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Aya is drinking her water when she coughs.

Yeah, she knows of Barkeep, who came as third on her suggested matches.

Rather than focusing on that, she just pounds her chest and returns to the subject, giving Sparks a sidelong glance. "I don't know about alternate universe, but..." She shrugs. "Someone did tell me about how time works differently here than home. Maybe that's the case there."

At least, she hopes so... It's a nicer thought than worrying about her being gone from home for the last several months.
red_planet_blues: (idk what to call this one)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-03-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Reckon that could be the case. Hopefully it is. But multiple universes are totally a thing. I know, cuz I once helped save 'em all."

Now he's bragging, even if it was true.

"'S why I know we'll get this one. One world compared to all worlds is a total walk in the park. It's just, y'know. A little more complicated than expected."
chondriosome: (love me some saturday morning cartoons)

[personal profile] chondriosome 2016-03-04 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Aya sighs. "Why am I not surprised?"

If her current situation has been any indicator, she at least now knows the existence of other worlds.

She catches that bragging. She is used to bragging. Aya is not a bragger, though.

"Complicated, huh? Good thing it's got you around. Sounds like you're the expert."

She might be joshing. Just might.
