Intro Log || Melodies of Eternity

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of March. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: Lots of distressed and depressed Heroes of Light.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Well, that is if you don't die or crystallize first. A couple days ago, a lot of Heroes of Light crystallized or died out of the blue without any warning! Sounds terrible? Welcome to Crystallis.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —

Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —

With Choco Egg day nearing, there are a lot fo Hypello working on the upcoming competitions and on making chocolates! Want to eat some? Too bad, the Moogles will hit you with the stick they use to make the chocolate if you try to eat them!

And besides the chocolates, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. Moogles are working hard in Mognet Office of the ninth district following the election of their new director, and while there are no Blitzball Matches today, a lot of Triple Triad players are gathered at the stadium. Why? Because they are working on the early preparations for the Triple Triad World Championship that will happen in May! Characters are also free to visit the city-- They can visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —

A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —

Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A few Moogles and nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. However...

Upon exiting the room, they will find the Hospital is very busy. Nurses and healers can be seen moving corpses around on stretchers, and overall a very dark and tense atmosphere reigns over the Hospital. In closed rooms, some of the most skilled healers are trying to analyze the corpses and find out what happened. And these dead people? They are of the Heroes of Light who died on the 29th of February.

Melodies of Eternity
— Anytime —

If you are a Hero of Light who survived that accursed day, your crystal will shine at the very same moment the new Heroes appear before the Crystal of Fire. That means your character is now linked to the Crystal of Fire and will come back to life after a week if killed.

They will also receive their Moogle and their housing in the 11th or 14th District. But that probably isn't enough for the pain to go away.

(ooc: Ah. I was assuming when the crystals activated, they took on some color. Oops.)

[Santa jerks around, startled by the presence of the Hero he didn't hear approach.]

Shit, doesn't anyone make noise around here? [He tilts his head up to stare at the pirate, to show he's not scared or anything, just peeved.] So I take it you're not a believer in telepathy?

(ooc: I can see where it makes sense but I think Kalki's plot 'overrides' that)

[Kidd can't help but chuckle at her comment.]

Forgive me, bit of a habit on my part. And I've seen a good many things in my time here so telepathy isn't one I'd discount out of hand. However we've not had contact with our home worlds here save for in the people and objects that have been drawn here by different means.

[She frowns and looks at the Crystal.]

Near as we know, nothing from this world goes back to our own. Considering the Calamity, that may be for the best for the time being.

[Santa snorts. He's not happy about it. But if he's on his own, he's going to have to figure it out. At least Akane is safe.

He continues to study the pirate.]

Telepathy is totally real. I bet I can tell you what you're thinking right now. 'Wow, what a fine-ass guy. Totally not gonna sneak up on him anymore.'

[He has no idea about Kidd's identity, and he doubts he's actually right, but flirting and vain posturing are safer than thinking about being trapped here with no way home and doom impending. So he smirks and winks at Kidd.]

[personal profile] not_most_days 2016-03-16 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Kidd leans back on her heel, crossing her arms as she looks him up and down. She knows full well better than to underestimate someone. It was true back home and it's especially true in a world like this where even a child can bring power to bear against larger foes.

But she can't let a comment like that slide.
]

Aye...that may be close to what I'm thinking. Can you do any other tricks besides mind reading?
21stcenturyguy: icon by Rune (explain a thing)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-03-17 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, if only Santa had all day to properly explain to Kidd the length and breadth of his myriad talents. But nah, gotta preserve some of that cool guy mystery.]

It's only our first date. I ain't gonna spill all my secrets just let.

[He meets Kidd's gaze.>] But I don't mind a game of 'Show me yours and I'll show you mine.' A trick for a trick seems fair, right?
not_most_days: (Mary Smug)

[personal profile] not_most_days 2016-03-17 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Kidd can't help but chuckle at this challenge.]

Very well. I suppose that's fair.

[Raising a gloved hand, she casts Stop on Santa. Should it stick she'll take the chance to search his pockets for something before moving back to where she was standing at the casting.]
21stcenturyguy: (creeped out)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-03-18 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
[The content of Santa's cargo pockets are as follows: his crystal, a pair of dice, a deck of cards, ticket stubs from chocobo races, and some stray gil coins. Nothing incredibly revealing or incriminating, but certainly enough for Kidd to take her pick from.]

[Santa blinked when the spell wore off. He had the feeling he'd missed something. He was sure the pirate had been just about to do something.]

What?
not_most_days: (Mary Smug)

[personal profile] not_most_days 2016-03-18 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Kidd's goal was never to look for anything particularly incriminating. The talk was just escalating to the point where she thought she might as well show him a magic trick. She shuffles through that deck of cards before putting it back in his pocket and steps back to where she was standing.

As the spell ends she chuckles, as does someone nearby who watched the whole thing. After all, it was only his time that was stopped.
]

Tell me....is this your card?

[She smiles as she holds up a 5 of diamonds.]
21stcenturyguy: (creeped out)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-03-18 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's no...What the FUCK!?!

[He goes for his cards, flipping through the deck. His 5 of diamonds is missing. Holy shit, aren't pirates supposed to hate ninjas? What the fuck is this one doing being so sneaky?]

Alright, nice trick. Puts you on the fucking Naughty List, though...

[He pulls out his All Knowing List. It always seems to open to the right page, so he lets up fall open and glances down to read off...]

...Mary Read...? [He looks at his target, and back to the book. The book ain't wrong. It's All Knowing. Huh. And sure enough, she's on the Naughty List.]
not_most_days: (Disappointed)

[personal profile] not_most_days 2016-03-18 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
[The grin only gets wider at Santa's outrage at her little trick. She honestly doesn't mean anything back to it and she flips it back to him as soon as he figures out what just happened.

But when he calls out her real name she does pause for a moment. Is this like how Palitutu knew who she was? The clues settle in as she thinks them over. Clearly the naughty list comes from the Santa Job. It's not like how Palitutu had the files on them....or perhaps it really is. Maybe that's why she knew so much about them.
]

Hmmm, seems you have me out. I don't suppose that name means anything to you?

[Really the odds are against it. Still, her name IS one in the historical record of most versions of Earth.]
21stcenturyguy: (bored)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-03-20 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Santa snatches the card out of the air and tucks it back into his deck. His Gambler skills won't work without a full deck, something about cheating.]

Nah. Should it? You famous or something? [Maybe she's some weird cosplayer or something.]

Hmmm, Infamous might be a better word, but don't worry about it much. That life is behind me for now. [She missed piracy but there wasn't any real profit to it in this world. And there were more serious matters at stake than political and national rivalries.]

The people I've met from my world tend to come from far in my future. I'd like to know if my name outlives me.
21stcenturyguy: (upset)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-03-24 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Santa shrugs.] 'm not really into history. [Except for random bits and pieces he'd needed for his project at home. He could tell Kidd about the Titanic or various studies on collective conscience, but not about swashbucklers and the high seas.]

You look kinda old school. That's not gonna cause some fucked-up paradoxes later, is it?
not_most_days: (Trust Matters)

[personal profile] not_most_days 2016-03-29 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
[A brief flash of discomfort washes over Kidd's face but she pushes it aside and shifts onto her heel.]

I don't think it would. I wound up here at the end of my time there I think. Given the choice I'd rather stay here or go to another world entirely.

[She can't help but smile at the thought of following Saori home.]
21stcenturyguy: (neutral)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-03-31 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, that's good at least. Morbid as fuck, but good. Santa's had his fill of messed-up timelines.]

Ok. There a reason for the crossdressing? Do we need code names here or something? [It wouldn't be the first time for Santa.]
not_most_days: (Trust Matters)

[personal profile] not_most_days 2016-04-06 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems not. More habit than all else. Back where I'm from it was the only way to get a job on a ship, nevermind get more respect than leers from the rest of the crew." She looked around at the city surrounding them.

"This world was a bit of a change in that regard. Magic wasn't the only thing that surprised me when I arrived here. So no, it's not needed, but it has its uses still."
21stcenturyguy: (smirk)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-04-08 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, if you wanna be a sailor now, you should dress up like one of the blue fish people.

[He smirks as he says it, imagining Kidd dressed as a hypello.] Whatever. As long as you don't steal my shit, you can do what you do. You can call me Santa, and I'll call you whatever the fuck you want.
not_most_days: (Smile)

[personal profile] not_most_days 2016-04-12 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll pass. Not quite my style, though frankly I think a good many folk underestimate them. [It occurs to her that they'd make fantastic spies considering how similar they all look and how easily they can get into places simply by a human assuming they're supposed to be there. Especially when it comes to shipping and whatnot.]

Santa, eh? Interesting name. Don't suppose you're the namesake of the Job we have here? [She looks him up and down but then smirks.]

Likely not. And don't worry. I don't plan to thief anything from you beyond that little trick. And you can call me Kidd for the time being. I like to keep my real name to more personal company. But perhaps someday.

[She smiles and gives him a friendly wink.]
21stcenturyguy: (smirk)

[personal profile] 21stcenturyguy 2016-04-16 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. [Santa agrees.] Other way around. You could say the big guy is an inspiration to me.

[He doesn't mind the use of her nickname or whatever. He's doing the same thing, he's just being less candid about it. He returns her smile.]

Yeah? Something to look forward to. [A nimble-fingered, cross-dressing pirate wasn't much weirder than anyone else he'd encountered. She seemed cool, so he'd at least attempt to get to know her more.]
