Intro Log || Melodies of Eternity

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of March. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: Lots of distressed and depressed Heroes of Light.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Well, that is if you don't die or crystallize first. A couple days ago, a lot of Heroes of Light crystallized or died out of the blue without any warning! Sounds terrible? Welcome to Crystallis.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
With Choco Egg day nearing, there are a lot fo Hypello working on the upcoming competitions and on making chocolates! Want to eat some? Too bad, the Moogles will hit you with the stick they use to make the chocolate if you try to eat them!

And besides the chocolates, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. Moogles are working hard in Mognet Office of the ninth district following the election of their new director, and while there are no Blitzball Matches today, a lot of Triple Triad players are gathered at the stadium. Why? Because they are working on the early preparations for the Triple Triad World Championship that will happen in May! Characters are also free to visit the city-- They can visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —
A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —
Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A few Moogles and nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. However...

Upon exiting the room, they will find the Hospital is very busy. Nurses and healers can be seen moving corpses around on stretchers, and overall a very dark and tense atmosphere reigns over the Hospital. In closed rooms, some of the most skilled healers are trying to analyze the corpses and find out what happened. And these dead people? They are of the Heroes of Light who died on the 29th of February.

Melodies of Eternity
— Anytime —
If you are a Hero of Light who survived that accursed day, your crystal will shine at the very same moment the new Heroes appear before the Crystal of Fire. That means your character is now linked to the Crystal of Fire and will come back to life after a week if killed.

They will also receive their Moogle and their housing in the 11th or 14th District. But that probably isn't enough for the pain to go away.

[ Mikleo somewhat snaps awake at the sound of someone speaking to him. He blinked giving the other a confused look before realizing he had falling asleep against the tree with the books all sprawled over him. Of course he looked like he was injured or something. ]

I'm fine.

[ He replied sitting up. ]

I'm sorry if you were startled by my appearance.

[ He actually turns to stare at the large bird that the other was with. He's never seen such a huge docile animal like that before. Usually if they were that big, they were monsters or aggressive. ]

Ah, no. No problem. I'm just glad you're okay. Just after what...happened to the others who came here with you I was just worried it happened again.

[Cloud offers him a sheepish smile but Zack just sort of tilts his head curiously at the other Hero.]

Oh. I'm Cloud. And this is Zack.

'Kweh!'

Oh, I see.

[ He's taken back by the sudden care this person had in his well being but he wasn't completely disliking it. He's appreciative nonetheless. ]

I suppose that makes sense. I have been monitoring some of my allies for a while in that regard as well. I'm Mikleo, it's a pleasure to meet you, Cloud and Zack.

[ He replied giving a soft smile at the sound of the chocobo. ]

Good to meet you too Mikleo. So what brings you out here?

[He's guessing training but he doesn't want to be rude. It's not that dangerous in the surrounding countryside, apart from the occasional hamster, but even then it's generally safer to have a friend along. Not that Cloud hasn't gone off on his own either.]

Personal matters, really. What about yourself?

[ He replied giving the other a look for the question. It made sense for someone to ask about the whole situation since he is alone in the middle of a forest on his own. It does seem like he might be in some kind of trouble if he stays here for too long. However, Mikleo finds peace here and he's been careful enough where he hasn't encountered anything out of the ordinary. ]

Ah, I see. [He doesn't, really, but clearly it's none of his business.]

Zack and I were out for a run. The ranch isn't that far from here. It's about mealtime if you're hungry.

[Cloud is making assumptions but he's sure that there's enough food to go around if someone wants some. If anything he can give up his own share.]

[ He's quite thankful that Cloud doesn't ask anymore. It's kind of difficult to explain his concerns since they were about his own personal troubles. ]

Zack-- do you mean the large birdlike creature that is next to you?

[ He questioned tilting his head to the side as he curiously inspects the chocobo. ]

I see, so there is a ranch for these kinds of creatures here.Ah, thanks perhaps I might take you on the offer, however, I'm rather curious about what the ranch looks like.

[ AKA, Cloud just gave him something to explore. ]

Yeah, he's a chocobo.

[Cloud is a little surprised that Mikleo hasn't picked that detail up, but maybe things have been so hectic for the newcomers that they haven't even been able to learn about this world.]

We can give you a ride back to the ranch if you want. Or if you want we'll go ahead and let folks know you're coming.

[Cloud is fine either way. He doesn't want to force the other Hero to bring his rest to an early end. He's just making the offer to be helpful.]

It's in an open field just past the forest. You can't miss it.

Oh, so that's what they are called.

[ He still seems mesmerized by the large bird like creature more than anything but he snaps himself from it since the whole situation might look a bit strange to Cloud. Not that Mikleo isn't already socially awkward on the situation himself right now. ]

You can ride them too?

[ Well he's certainly even more intrigued. ] How does one ride on a Chocobo?

[ He tilts his head as he continues to concentrate. ]

Ah, I see. I suppose it would be better to follow someone who is more familiar than I am.

Ah. Are you from one of those worlds that has horses? It's pretty much the same. They're really strong and can run swiftly even while carrying a heavy load.

[Giving Zack a pat on his neck, the blonde mounts up in a fluid motion.]

It's easy once you have the bird's trust. They're really smart too.

"KWEH~" [Zack trills and gives a happy flap.]

Yes, it seems to be a common thing with many people. So in this world, the horses that you ride are actually chocobos instead but they have similar functions. It does make sense. Thank you for clarifying.

[ Mikleo is still intrigued by the large creature and well he can't help but reach out to pet it too before the sound of it's cry made him withdraw his hand. ]

He's quite energetic. I can understand that. Animals in general are quite intelligent-- at least more than they're given credit for.

[Zack quirks his head at Mikleo as the hand is pulled away. He didn't mean to spook the Hero. Instead he opts to close the distance and lean the broad top of his beak into Mikleo's palm.]

Ah, he's trying to tell you he's not going to hurt you.

[ For some reason Mikleo's face was like that of a child on contact with the beak. It definitely felt harmless and he was being nice to him. Mikleo almost smiles as he pats the bird's head gently. ]

He's very well behaved. Thank you-- Zack was it?

[ He muses after a moment. Animals here were definitely a lot nicer than he expected. ]

KWEH!

[Cloud can't help but laugh at the enthusiasm of his bird.]

Yeah. I named him after my best friend back home. They're a lot alike in their personality. Plus this Zack looked pretty good in black when he upended a pot of dye on his head. That's when they really looked alike.

[ Mikleo's smile only grew bigger as Cloud's bird continued to show even more enthusiasm than he did before. He continues to play with the chocobo for a moment before letting him go. ]

I see he's quite a trouble maker. Is that so? He must be someone very important to you.

[ the Water Seraph mused as Cloud said that. It reminded him a bit of his friendship with Sorey. ]

[Zack gives another happy trill before trotting over to Cloud's side where he gives another excited flap. Cloud smiles as he pats the bird on his broad neck.]

Zack is my best friend back home, like I said. I joined the military hoping to be a big Hero and it didn't work. Nobody really cared because that's the way the world works, right? But Zack did his best to cheer me on even though I was just a grunt. I guess he was happy to meet another kid from the middle of nowhere like him.

[ Mikleo seems content hearing those words. It makes him miss his own best friend. Hopefully it won't be something he'll experience soon, even if he hopes to see Sorey soon... one day. ]

I see. you both were in the military. I must be rough to pursue such a career no?

[ He can't wrap his mind around it but he can understand it. That and he's read books about it. ]

I'm almost envious of how close you two are. It reminds of me if my friend from home-- well your relationship I mean.

[ He might be a little embarrassed for saying more than he should ]

It was a bit rough, but for a kid like me from a backwater there weren't many options. I could stay in my small town and work at the Mako reactor or one of the shops. The military was made to sound exciting, especially with a hero like the Great Sephiroth.

[The fact that it was propaganda became obvious very quickly, but by that point most recruits either didn't want to go home or couldn't afford it. And that's how the slums were filling up. People who came to Midgar to make it big and didn't.

But he just offers Mikleo a smile at his further comment.]

Don't be. If my story made you think of your own friend I'm sure you were close too.

I see. So you had someone you wanted to be like. That's very noble of you in a sense.

[ He replied with his hand to his chin as the other explained to him. There were so many interesting people here and their worlds all sound very fascinating and almost surreal to Mikleo. Not that Glennwood was any less surreal. ]

We grew up together in a small village. It's strange not having him around. I'm certain it feels the same way for you when it concerns your friend. Shall we get going before the sun sets?

[ He muses after a moment of silence. It would probably get pretty shady if they stay out here too long. ]

Perhaps we can continue to discuss these matters over a meal?

[Cloud isn't so sure "noble" is the right word, considering both the way Sephiroth was propped up by ShinRa and the fact that his own reasons were almost wholly selfish. He wasn't trying to become a Hero for the same reasons Zack was.

But Mikleo's question shakes him out of his distracting enthusiasm. Finding the sun in the sky he then chuckles and rubs the back of his head sheepishly.]

Yeah. I guess we should. Sorry. I lost track of time.

[ Well, Mikleo doesn't know this Sephiroth person but he's heard a great deal about the man from rumors and other things. Honestly, he doesn't seem like a bad person so he'll stick to his choice of words for the time being.

Mikleo smiles at him softly as the other chuckles. ]

It's quite alright. I rather enjoyed the stories you are telling me. Let's head to the ranch and continue it there.

[ Since Cloud seems to be a very interesting individual. ]
