Welcoming Cookout Mingle [OPEN]

Who: Warriors of Light, their Moogles, our esteemed NPC overlords welcomed
Where: Aqures Ixen, Old Observatory Grounds
When: March 10, from Noon till 9
What: Lots of Food
Warnings: Mark if it gets weird

It was a massive undertaking, but he had put out the call to everyone in the area. There were stoves set up with portable heat supplies, tables and a place for music and food. The Adventurer had literally invited everyone that he could think of. Even the trio of Wedge, Cid and Biggs were invited, to foster better relationships with them, as well as the merchants and the people of the land.

The Observatory was decorated as such and with the warmer weather out, there was still things to do, places to see and people to meet. Take this time to invest in that meeting you wanted. Maybe you saw this Hero or person from over the way but never stopped to say hello. It simply isn't possible to know everyone. Until now.

Go and talk with someone, play music or perform on the dance stage, and oh, save some food for those out hunting the ridiculous Gilgamesh Quest. They'll probably be starving.

Lydia Deetz--Open

Lydia had offered to help with set-up, once she'd seen how hard the other Hero was working. It hadn't been easy, but she'd helped set up as best she could and made sure things were organized. Clear labels and small signs too for what was what, with ingredients listed as she could tell.

It was...nice, just to find a place and sit and observe. Betel-Po was mingling, but Lydia had her sketchbook and pencils out, and food nearby. She'd socialize later, as her moods were still a bit shaky. But people-watching was always fun, and the Heroes and populace of Aquares Ixen were always interesting.

Zack could eat quite a lot, and when he wandered by with a pile of food, he paused before sitting near Lydia. "Hey! Glad to see you came out today, Lydia."

Lydia had a page half filled with various moogles and people, in rough sketches. Pausing though, and offering a grin when Zack sat next to her. "I live in the house next to Meteor, so it was kind of hard not to see his plans. Figured I'd help out, at least with labeling stuff since cooking isn't my forte."

"Yeah I brought some food too, small stuff like drinks and desserts when I heard the news. Those are nice drawings though, how long have you been doing art?" He asked curiously. Zack really had no artist friends, more like dancers.
deadlyvu: (Don't mind me...)

Lydia shrugged, opening the book to let him see more. Doodles as well at times, and some pages were filled with fashion-designs, and half-snippets of poems. "My Step-Mother is an Artist, so I've always been encouraged. Until I can get some film for my camera, I've been doodling a lot more, so it's gotten better."

"These are really nice," said Zack as he looked through the book as Lydia paged through the book. "I'm really impressed. So you do photography as well? I'd like to see those one day."
deadlyvu: (aww...thanks Beej.)

There's a huff of air, Lydia's bangs puffing up with the exasperation. "I'd love to get back to it. Just...no film, and I don't want to waste what IS in my camera." Since she had regained her camera--maybe she should just go ask if Cid could regain some film for her. "I had a dark room in the basement though, and did my own developing. Photography is really my primary hobby."

"One of the old guys who we get stuff from might be able to get us a batch, or perhaps I could ask for some for you?" asked Zack curiously. "What model of film do you have for your camera?"

Or... he could get her a digital camera, but that wouldn't make sense since she wouldn't be able to print out the pictures. So there goes that idea.

"I'll have to check when I get home. It's been so long since I've looked, as I didn't want to damage my camera." There was a grin though, as she took her book back. "I was thinking the same thing though. Might go see if Cid can get some for me. Then I'd have to look into the chemicals here, and see what would work for developing it. And find a place I can convert into a dark-room."

Then again, she wondered if her housemates would mind her turning the Basement into one. The chemicals for film development were a LOT less dangerous than some of the stuff Henry had stored down there most likely.

"That's probably a good idea. If you want, I can help out getting and storing things away if your housemates are willing," said Zack. "And who knows, maybe he'll listen to your request. Cid I mean."
deadlyvu: (aww...thanks Beej.)

That did make her grin turn into a proper smile. "I'd enjoy that, but I need to make sure my housemates are ok with it." A sigh, and she rolled her eyes. "Then again, if we can find a way to make our own film, my one housemate would happily help me develop it and be in heaven. He could get his Heroes Calendar project out."

Oh yes, she was amused by one of her new housemates.

"Developing film is easier than making it though, and I'm fairly sure I can be persuasive to Cid."

"Your roommate is that Santa guy?" While Zack wasn't opposed to the idea, his abrasive personality reminded him of Kaito without the charm.

"That's probably your best bet. Talking to Cid."

"Yep, Mr. Sour Claus himself." Lydia found it amusing, more than anything. She had no major objections to the project, and was even willing to help out, depending on what was involved. "Housemate though, as Nanami and I both have our own rooms. He's sharing with the 3rd bedroom, with our 4th Housemate."

"Well, hopefully it goes well. I have no time to sign up really, I've got a dance troupe I'm working with right now, while coming up with new dances." It was a local project thing for the theater.

Lydia shrugged, setting aside her sketchbook for now in favor of the conversation. "Depends on what he wants, but I might help. I've missed being able to do photography." Then her expression brightened, excited again. "Invite me to the performances ok? Also if you want help with costuming, I can assist. That's sort of what I've been throwing myself into, to kind of keep myself from thinking too much. Clothing and costuming design."

Zack nodded, poking a fork into his cooling food. "All right I'll do that, definitely. They're mostly backup roles but they were in desperate need of a good choreographer. That's where I came in."

"As long as you're enjoying it." Getting to her feet as she should get some food too. "Watch my book?" She won't be too long, and she does want to chat more.

"Sure. I'll keep it safe." One hand came down on the book just to make sure it didn't blow away or anything. "Go on, I'll be here."

He's welcome to flip through it; see some of her design sketches. Her tastes definitely run to slightly spooky and whimsically macabre, but not bad. This is still a new book so there's not the commentary yet there would be in others, accompanying her sketches.

Doesn't take her too long though before she's back, and brought a plate with dessert items. Balancing it all carefully, anyways, including flatware. Clearly though, there is too much on the dessert plate for just her unless she has a very high metabolism. "Figured we could share, if you didn't mind. I was up anyways." Setting that plate between them where they could get it.

"Oh thanks, that's appreciated! I hadn't gotten much either, and I wasn't too sure how much we could get." Buffets like this weren't too common back home, except for something like a Sweets Viking.

This kind of thing wasn't too common for Lydia either, but she made good guesses and listened. "Not a problem." Definitely in brighter spirits than he last saw her. "Other than working on your stuff with the troupe, what do you do here?"

"Well I got a job as a street cleaner. It's not glamourous, but I have the freedom to move about the streets as much as I want." Compared to his usual lifestyle, it was a change of pace.

"After that I look for libraries or places to relax like coffee shops or cafes."

Well, she knows not to worry about Lydia, at least where food's concerned. K'pandolu stops nearby all the same, watching the pencil for a moment, and then looking to Lydia's face. "Lydia! Have you been well?"
