Welcoming Cookout Mingle [OPEN]

Who: Warriors of Light, their Moogles, our esteemed NPC overlords welcomed
Where: Aqures Ixen, Old Observatory Grounds
When: March 10, from Noon till 9
What: Lots of Food
Warnings: Mark if it gets weird

It was a massive undertaking, but he had put out the call to everyone in the area. There were stoves set up with portable heat supplies, tables and a place for music and food. The Adventurer had literally invited everyone that he could think of. Even the trio of Wedge, Cid and Biggs were invited, to foster better relationships with them, as well as the merchants and the people of the land.

The Observatory was decorated as such and with the warmer weather out, there was still things to do, places to see and people to meet. Take this time to invest in that meeting you wanted. Maybe you saw this Hero or person from over the way but never stopped to say hello. It simply isn't possible to know everyone. Until now.

Go and talk with someone, play music or perform on the dance stage, and oh, save some food for those out hunting the ridiculous Gilgamesh Quest. They'll probably be starving.

K'pandolu beamed at her, encouraged. "Of course!"

She reached out for Sheena's shoulder, giving her a firm nod. "It'll be for certain!" she said, her other hand going over her heart. "Whatever you wish to express in your dance, the tale you tell- in time, I'm sure people will be clamouring to give you space!"

Sheena still couldn't see why the woman was so positive over everything, but decided to let it drop.

Instead, she listened to her as she spoke, a realization coming to her. "My dance wasn't that kind of dance, really. I just came up with it to help me with my training. But there are dances like that on my world, though." She looked at the other woman curiously.

"I take it your world has them, too?"

In the face of a gathering to try and raise everyone's spirits, better to set aside as much as the burden she felt on her for the night. Besides which, dancing was something she had a deep-running care for.

"Oh- to help you with the movements? It does seem somewhat alike at times, it's true…" K'pandolu hummed for a moment, and nodded.

"Dances, you mean?" She nodded again, ears flicking lightly. "For display, for rituals… there are all sorts."

She's a lot like Colette. That girl always tried to stay happy around everyone while they were traveling. Sheena, on the other hand, always hid things behind every other emotion--including happiness.

She needed to get back to doing that so others wouldn't be worried.

Smiling, she nodded. "That's it exactly! Training is fine and all, but sometimes you get into a rut and your body no longer responds. Dancing changes it up, so your body has no choice but to respond."

The ninja smiled. "I had a hunch. You know, sometimes it amazes me how alike we all are. Similar customs, ideas, habits... I just wish everyone knew that people aren't as different as they think and just accept them."

Bear up against what's been placed on you- that's all it is.

K'pandolu grinned, ears flicking. "Of course! But that means you can't stick to one kind of dance, either, correct?"

She chuckled, tail curling a little. "When people come together, it's easier to see that."

That's definitely Colette.

At the other's comment, Sheena felt her cheeks warm and she turned away. "I...don't know any other dances. I just do that and training."

Sheena, sadly, had to shake her head. "It might be easier to see, but not always easy to accept--especially by those who can't--or aren't willing to--change."

"Perhaps you could learn some while you're here!" K'pandolu suggested, enthusiastically. "If you wished to, of course," she added, recalling the rest of the conversation.

She puffed out a breath, ears dropping. She'd talked to various members of Eorzea's beast tribes, but there was still the history between them and the city-states that meant any path would be difficult. "All the more reason to try to reach out, though."

"I don't know," the ninja said slowly. She was unsure of her skill in dancing--despite the reactions of those around her just moments ago.

Sheena stepped closer and placed a hand on the other woman's arm. "Not exactly something you want to discover we all have in common, is it?" She smiled reassuringly. "But at least knowing about it is a start in eliminating it, right?"

K'pandolu nodded. "You don't need to decide immediately," she said. "But if you ever want to learn something, I'll be happy to show you what I know."

She smiled back, lifting over other hand to touch Sheena's briefly. "That's true. It's a long road, but… I've been fortunate enough to see some cooperation between the peoples back home. I'll willing to walk it."

"I'll keep that in mind." And while Sheena meant it, the ninja had a feeling she probably wouldn't take her up on that offer. Well, not immediately anyway.

Sheena's smile faltered a bit. "It's a very long road, and while some people don't mind traveling it..." She sighed. "There are just some who either can't get on it, or want to make a U-turn and go back to where they were."

And she just wanted to smack those people. Change wasn't always bad. Scary, yes, but not bad.
