Hidden Truth [Log]

What: A log for everyone to gain the information in the Hidden Truth video tape.
Where: The Observatory.

There had been a flurry of letters sent out from Jack and Chiaki, first to Zelda to ask to borrow the Observatory, and then to every Hero of Light, alerting them that they had uncovered some intelligence received in the Heran Empire before the Capital had fallen to Crystal, and that everyone needed to see it immediately.

Jack, Chiaki, and a few others brought in a screen connected to a machine that some would recognize as a VCR. "With our peace mission to the Imperial Capital over Christmas, we returned with a recording made on 20th-century Earth technology, the kind that doesn't have an analogue on Crystallis. It took us time to build a machine to be able to play it. This information comes from Kalki, recorded what appears to be years ago. We obtained it from the Imperial Spy, Jenni. As of right now, we still have no reason to believe that Kalki is alive. But this comes from her, and I apologize to everyone who might be upset by seeing her again."

With that, Jack plays the recording. He stands by the screen and repeats the words for everyone to hear, for those who cannot understand English. Since Kalki's first words are to explain why she is recording it this way, it makes sense why he has to do this. He keeps his own emotions in check throughout, until the explanation of the Bard song that everyone gets to hear. That seems to upset Jack.

Once the recording is over, Jack pauses. "We will need some help from any other English speakers to create a written transcript of the recording so that anyone can access this information at any time. The tape and player will remain here for any Heroes to review. We ask that you please be careful with the machine."

Finally, Jack sits down to let the room descend into the inevitable chaos.

Ales eventually found himself standing beside Lydia, both because he needed a transcription of the video and to watch how a VCR worked. Lydia was a natural at both. He eyes each single word she wrote down, taking the time to mull over sentences as she steadily filled the page.

"Why didn't she tell us any of this before?"

Lydia had taken to frantically scribbling, and while the notes weren't the most organized--yet--she was attempting to be as complete as possible for now. Organization, making them look nice, that could come later. Some of her spellings might be off, but that was a minor thing she felt.

"She might not have thought we'd listen." Not that Lydia was fond of Kalki still, but...she couldn't find it in her to hate the other woman as much. Not anymore.

Ales let out a small "hm" at Lydia's answer. Even if they didn't completely trust her then, especially since they all fist met in less than ideal circumstances, it would have given them something to think about long before Palitutu left. With so little time let, they could come up with a well thought-out plan.

"Some of us would have listened," he insisted. "It's been months since we stopped trusting Palitutu with information, and only now we know what Kalki's been up to?"

He hated this. He hated being left in the dark.
deadlyvu: (I'm not sure that's a good idea...)

"She might not have known that though." Lydia pointed out, although she kind of agreed with Ales. Not just about hating being kept in the dark. She had fast come to learn to HATE how everyone seemed to expect them to be Heroes, but no one gave them ideas how, and everyone gave conflicting information, and there were conflicting expectations that no one told you about until it was too late.

Hmm--almost like the social structure at her school, and High School in general. Even if Lydia went to a small private school, some things never changed maybe. It was small comfort maybe.

"Besides, look at how much we're all arguing now. It might be worse if she were here in person to answer questions."

Ales watched the Heroes debate the merits of her plan of godhood yet again and agreed. In his opinion, gods were no different from people, and becoming one would make no difference. What they needed was actual change.

"Let them talk about this plan until they get tired. There's a lot more we have to be worried about." He pointed to a certain paragraph on the transcript. "Like the Avatars. We might be able to learn more through them, or through the Cult of Narayana on the Lost Continent. I'm sure there's something they know that we don't."
deadlyvu: (aww...thanks Beej.)

"There's a LOT that we don't know, Ales." Lydia pointed out, although she tried not to sound as depressed as the thought was. "I'd be up for exploring the Lost Continent though."

"Are you sure?" He assumed she was still referring to the Cult. "Infiltrating their base will be dangerous, and not to be rude, but you don't see the type to slip in and out unnoticed."
deadlyvu: (Upset)

Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence Ales. "Even if I don't do that, I'd still be up for exploring." And now she's frowning a bit. "Besides, I can be very sneaky thanks. I'm small and quick, and I can turn into a bat."

Eh, he'll manage. He was only telling the truth. "Sure, exploring other parts, like the Tower or something, but unless the Cult's hiding in a case, a bat's going to look suspicious no matter what."
