Hidden Truth [Log]

What: A log for everyone to gain the information in the Hidden Truth video tape.
Where: The Observatory.

There had been a flurry of letters sent out from Jack and Chiaki, first to Zelda to ask to borrow the Observatory, and then to every Hero of Light, alerting them that they had uncovered some intelligence received in the Heran Empire before the Capital had fallen to Crystal, and that everyone needed to see it immediately.

Jack, Chiaki, and a few others brought in a screen connected to a machine that some would recognize as a VCR. "With our peace mission to the Imperial Capital over Christmas, we returned with a recording made on 20th-century Earth technology, the kind that doesn't have an analogue on Crystallis. It took us time to build a machine to be able to play it. This information comes from Kalki, recorded what appears to be years ago. We obtained it from the Imperial Spy, Jenni. As of right now, we still have no reason to believe that Kalki is alive. But this comes from her, and I apologize to everyone who might be upset by seeing her again."

With that, Jack plays the recording. He stands by the screen and repeats the words for everyone to hear, for those who cannot understand English. Since Kalki's first words are to explain why she is recording it this way, it makes sense why he has to do this. He keeps his own emotions in check throughout, until the explanation of the Bard song that everyone gets to hear. That seems to upset Jack.

Once the recording is over, Jack pauses. "We will need some help from any other English speakers to create a written transcript of the recording so that anyone can access this information at any time. The tape and player will remain here for any Heroes to review. We ask that you please be careful with the machine."

Finally, Jack sits down to let the room descend into the inevitable chaos.

"It would be..." But did it have to only be a few? It was the most logical step, perhaps, to place the burden on a smaller number for the sake of everyone else. "Maybe it doesn't have to be a few."

But a chilling sensation was overtaking Tear nevertheless. That line of thinking had been precisely what had guided her in that future, and before she knew it she was shaking her head, casting her gaze downward. "I'm sorry, please disregard that. I don't believe many of us are thinking altogether clearly right now."

"I suppose not. Power in numbers right?"

She mused giving Tear a small smile at her expression. It was a chilling thought, really but Selen couldn't exactly tell the young woman that everything will be sunshine and rainbows when it clearly was not. Even Selen would be deluding herself to believe such a farce.

"It's quite alright.I am no better than anyone here. We all have our reasons and our wounds."

She replied, placing a hand on the other's shoulder, "We'll just have to figure out the best way possible together. How about it?"

Surprise clouded Tear's expression for a moment when Selen placed her hand upon her shoulder, eyes still a little wider than usual before she catches herself and a more neutral demeanour takes its place. Eventually, the smallest of smiles took its place.

A bit tired, certainly hesitant and weary, it was nonetheless appreciative as the girl reached up to lightly touch the woman's hand. What they had witnessed had once again touched upon memories of the vision, but even though they threatened to cloud her thoughts Tear was able to keep them at bay.

The unity they had now wasn't something they had kept back then, and that made it easier to stand firm. "That sounds good to me... I would be glad to fight by your side, Selen."

Oh, did she catch the other off guard? She doesn't mean to but the other looked like she needed a physical gesture of sorts. Maybe her mother instincts were running a little too wild. In any case, she smiled when Tear returned the gesture, pleased that the action was well recieved if anything.

It's a little difficult to forget something like that. Sometimes it takes a lot longer than intended to forget or move on from those kinds of visions. Selen herself wasn't very good at that either.

"That's very good. I look forward to more endeavors with you, whether they be difficult or not."
