Event || The Answer

Characters: All characters who signed-up for the event.
Where: South Continent of Balance (Imperial Territories)
When: April 20th to April 30th.
Summary: The Heroes of Light have lost consciousness and now find themselves in the middle of nowhere, without their Moogles and away from everything they know. They will have to get back home, but what awaits them on the path? For more information, please check the First OOC Post and Second OOC Post.

[Lydia is a night-owl, and while this had taken her by surprise, she was aware enough as soon as others were. Mesmerized by the crystal spread though, her eyes-wide.]

Deadly vu...

[There is a lot of awe, and maybe a bit of terror, in her tone.]

[Considering how sternly Sephiroth usually holds himself, there is no hiding the sudden-if-not-far flinch backwards on his part as a sudden shoot of crystal spikes up to capture a bird flying low overhead. As Yuffie turns and rouses the others with a sense of urgency all her own he's squinting up at the small lifeform, now crystallized several feet above them.

Something like being stuck in silent, morbid fascination for a moment before he forces his curiosity back into line and with a low breath turns to face the others. At least he'd still been up at that time of night, and clad in his leathers as opposed to his usual training gear, not his pajamas; especially since Sephiroth has recently started sleeping sans the top-part.]

Right.

[Quickly looking between the other Heroes, to silently indicate the same, Sephiroth is the first to start striding in a direction pointedly away from the creeping mass of crystal.]

[Johnny's moving right along with him, but looking between all the others there.]

No one's answering me. Why'm I stuck out wherever the fuck this is, in my pajamas? Christ, I thought Heroes weren't supposed to go near the Calamity!

Reno jolted, then scrambled to his feet. Had he been drunk? Blacked out? Is that how he got here? Because he definitely didn't remember any of this.

It was for everyone's benefit, however it happened. Reno normally slept in the nude, or close to it.

He immediately checked on Johnny once the present danger became clear. Still alive, still safe. Good. Time to keep it that way.

"Time to go," he agreed, shaken by the sight of that frozen bird. He took Johnny by the wrist. "Men, women, half-demons an' weird goth children, exit stage left!"

Yuffie looked over at Reno with an expression that suggests that she wasn't amused. "Yeah says the last to wake up." She walked pasted him and began leading a the way away from the crystal. She had no interest in being here either.

"So while we walk, what on earth are we doing here? I guess all the heroes got teleported everywhere."

Yuffie waved her arms in the air hearing the crystal move behind them. It's so creepy.

[There isn't any point answering Johnny with an answer he doesn't have so Sephiroth just keeps walking; he's aware that the others are also moving in a direction -away- from the Calamity so doesn't need to look to check again.

Until Reno makes his comment and that, also earns a sharp look at him from the silver haired SOLIDER. Not a comment, just a look; Lydia may be not-quite adult yet but she's already earned a little more respect from him than to be referred to as a child. Never mind that, out of all of them, she's the one that Sephiroth would keep more of an eye on as they traveled together.]

It's hardly a new thing. Quite often we're spirited off in a direction by someone. [To answer Yuffie.]

Question is, Who it is this time.

[And has this caught -all- of them, or only a few? Terra could be anywhere...]

[Reno is one of the only people who'd get away with grabbing Johnny and leading him off. He looks behind them as they trot away, fascinated by the Calamity.]

Yeah, Heroes get kicked all over time 'n space, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But someone or somethin' has it out for us, dropping us off this close to the Calamity. And where's everyone else? Is it just us?

[Lydia had been jolted out, thankfully, but she still kept looking back--fascinated and kind of in awe. This was the calamity spreading huh? Eerie...]

At least we're not out here alone?

[Trying to find a bright side.]

Also really glad some of us are night-owls...

[Reno muttered,] You have no idea... [Clothing, over his junk. Big plus.]

[Satisfied that people were moving and staying close, he made himself let Johnny go, even if it was just as much a personal comfort to hold onto him.]

But I guess I am glad I ain't alone... If there was anyone else, though, either they abandoned us here or they're already toast.

[Neither was a happy thought. So, hopefully, they were all present and accounted for.]

I don't think many of the heroes would just leave us there.

[Yuffie continues forward, her arms reaching up to cradle her head as they walked. This all seems really weird but she isn't particularly worried. For now, they are all in one piece.]

Let's keep our guard up, just in case.

[Not that it looks like Yuffie is doing that.]

[It is a small mercy that it seems none of them had been asleep when they'd blacked out in Aqures, and waking in the middle of no where all alone would be worse, yet at the same time-]

A small mercy. [Sephiroth comments lowly, not really looking very much back again at the others as he continues. But then stops as he scans the horizon before them- there really is no sign of any settlement or even a clear road for them to follow.]

Perhaps. Though I for one hope we come across some way to get our bearings, soon.

[Not to mention, being as he's sans armor and weapon, the potential for monsters on the way. Sephiroth shivers involuntarily, a chill becoming noticeable where he'd blacked out not so long after having a shower.]

[Johnny grimaced at Reno's suggestion, and looked back at the Calamity with worry. His voice was quiet.]

Christ, I hope not.

[After a beat and scanning the scenery himself, he grumbles.]

Does anyone got any idea where we are? Geographically, I mean.

I have a map!

[Yuffie almost jumps with her hand in the air at this news. She's gotten in the habit of carrying anything she'd ever need with her. Adding to the fact that she only sleeps during odd hours she figured she'd always be ready.

Her fingers slide into a back pocket and pull out a folded piece of paper. This map has quite a few notes on it, including what she's gathered about where the calamity is.]

It needs to be updated.

[Clearly the calamity has grown further.]

Yes!

[A map! Yes, great, thank Leviathan even, a map! However, Reno's initial excitement crashed pretty instantaneously to hear the map might not be so helpful after all.]

Aw, no, Yuff...

[He looked at it over her shoulder, every few seconds glancing around to gauge their general safety.]

Okay, well... if we think a' this as a flattened globe, an' it's spreadin' all ways from the south... Then, uh...

[He tried to orient himself.]

Well it's not really cold enough t' be up on the Lost Continent, right? So we can't be up there -- gotta be either Mysidian area or Balance. Or Flence, I guess...

[It wasn't the most helpful, but at least it narrowed it down somewhat. And if it was Flence, then they'd surely hit the city or some coastline before long if they kept walking. And if not, hey, at least they walked further away from the Calamity... even if they were still lost.]

[Reno's not the only one who has quickly sidled up to Yuffie as she produced a map. Thoughts cast aside with regards to why she might have a map permanently on her person; given all that's happened perhaps no one could blame her.

He quickly catches up to the fact though, that the details about their only bearing -the Calamity itself- had indeed to be out of date. For a start they'd used a crystal to keep the Tower safe but it didn't look like her diagram had it close enough to there yet-

Wait. Sephiroth sharply stood back up to his fullest height and scanned the horizon. Reno is right, they can't be up at the Lost Continent; there isn't any snow but...]

-we would be able to see the Tower from here, right, if we were that side? So there's really only one potential left.

[Deep in Imperial territory, the wrong side of what had been the Heran Capital, if Sephiroth dared to strike his luck on their predicament. How typical. He very nearly groaned.]

[Johnny hovered over shoulders, looking over the map, and finally puts two and two together. But that only makes it more confusing.]

Wait - How the fuck are we gonna get back from here? None of you have, like, an airship or something, do ya?

We walk doofus.

[Yuffie passes the map to Sephiroth so he can take a closer look. It's up todate except for the calamities progress which isn't to much of a problem except that the calamity is close by.

She looks over at Reno and sticks out her tongue.]

At least I have a map.

[Suddenly those long hours in one library or another pouring through as many resources about Crystallis as possible end up being perfectly justified. As Yuffie hands him the map, Sephiroth does indeed take a longer look. He's almost memorized the shape of the coast, the more-or-less position of the major civilizations in this World-

-enough to know they're about as far from anywhere remotely useful in regards to getting back to Aqures any time soon.]

If we can make it through the Pass of Roalie- [He indicates to Johnny, and anyone else who might be looking still.]

-that's desert, all the way up to the Republic of Esdham. But we've a better chance of being spotted-

[Sephiroth paused, immediately becoming a pessimist to his own plan. Thats -if- Esdham still ran military fly-bys even towards Heran territory anymore now that the threat of the Empire no longer existed. To say nothing of how many days they might have to hike out in the wilderness from their position, which could be anywhere along the perimeter of the Calamity.

He's a realist, he knows their chances of exposure well outweigh the odds of even making it to the Pass. That's not to mention the local fauna, or where they might find the basic of needs, like water.]

Lydia has been listening, and keeping a wary eye on the encroaching crystallization. Letting them talk, and not surprised at all and grateful to Yuffie. Instead she's focusing on other things...

Like removing her cloak--it's small, but it'll help at least. Moving to pass it to Johnny. "It's not much." Also carefully averting her eyes, as the blush would stand-out on her pale face. Maybe not as much of a crush as she did have when she first met the other, but a twinge of it.

"We need to also figure out how we're doing food, water. Water really. When we're traveling too. If we DO make it to the desert, it'll be better to travel when it's at night and cooler, right?" She thought she remembered that from a class.

Right. Walk. Anyone see any shoe stores anywhere?

[Not that he had his wallet. Which was in his pants. Which were back in Aqures Ixen.

He looks a little surprised at Lydia's move, but after a moment, he takes the cloak.]

Um, thanks. Yeah, we're gonna need a lot more than shoes, I guess.

[Not to mention the vast mountain range that spread up and out in the direction that Sephiroth has come to face. Yet again, that all-to-obvious indication that this world really does seem to have it in for him. At least, it shouldn't prove too hard to at least locate some sources of water and potential food during the trek that laid at their feet. Most mountain ranges as he understood them tended to have an abundance of wildlife within them, which meant that there -had- to be some resources. At least he had some training-

What they'd keep said resources in, though, or more importantly should one of them get injured -like Johnny with his bare feet and ass with only a cloak to cover up- the odds just continued to stack up against them. All the while that Calamity wasn't too far behind, either.]

One hurdle at a time. We've our work cut out for us.

['He' has his work cut out for him, specifically, not that he'd mention but Sephiroth didn't exactly trust Yuffie, or Reno, for that matter.]

Lets go.

[Might as well start as they mean to go on. Sephiroth folds the map up and starts to stride away from the group. With any luck they'll get the hint.]

We could head toward the Empire.

[He called toward Sephiroth's retreating back. It was a risky suggestion, but still valid.]

Steal some vehicles, or a ship -- take a time mage hostage....

[He shrugged. Heroic, no. But a way to get home? Certainly.]

Just spitballin' here. But mountains, desert, yeah that's... that's good, too.

[He reached out to rub Johnny's back. Poor guy really got the worst luck here.]

You want me to carry you?

[He smirked. But he was only half kidding.]

[Yuffie glances over at Sephiroth before rolling her eyes. Yeah, right Solider boy, now you want to walk.

She steps up next to Johnny and begins unlacing some straps from her hips.]

Carrying him is stupid. We don't know how far we have to walk. Here... [She pulls a fate leather pouch from her side, emptying its contents into her hand and then using a dagger to rip the bag in two.]

Use this as a sole. It'll protect your feet for a bit. We can save carrying for a last resort. [Unless Reno is set on making himself tired.]

[Johnny just gave Reno a smartass smirk to go with his smartass remark.]

Nah. I'll just steal yer shoes when you're sleeping.

[He looked over the bits of pouch, unsure of how to make this work.]

Don't worry 'bout me yet. Worry about getting us all far enough away from the Calamity first. I've gone through worse than just bein' without shoes.

[Excuse you princess who's all but given him the map to figure out.

Sephiroth delivers Reno a long look over his shoulder, almost as if the red-head has gone mad. Fortunately it seems Reno is only 'spitballin' so Sephiroth tries to tone down the seriousness in his glare a little. Not very successfully; considering the Heran capital has already been swallowed by the Calamity and even if it were possible there is no way they're going that way...or at least HE isn't.]

Johnny's right. We're going to have to keep a steady pace.

[A look further back, towards that creeping mass of crystal.]

It's not exactly chasing us, but it'll be easier to fall behind as we go forward.
