Intro Log || Puppets

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of May. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.
Warning: N/A.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo." Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who have arrived in the course of the past year and they will come soon! Like you, they have Jobs and a Crystal.

If asked, the Moogles will mention that the Heroes of Light - that is to say you - are fighting against time to save Crystallis from the Calamity that is about to awaken to devour the entire world. Well, that is if you don't die or crystallize first.

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —

Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world within the past year. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat gigantic beasts in the past. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —

With the Triple Triad World Championship nearing, there are a lot of folks working hard to set up the upcoming event! Noticeably a lot of Triple Triad players eager to defy anyone they pass by for a chance at honing their skills, and people from Trano Golsaucia as they're working on the stadium.

And besides card games, there are a lot of things to do in the city for newcomers. Moogles are working hard in Mognet Office of the ninth district and there is a Blitzball Game between kid teams happening at 16:00! Characters are also free to visit the city-- They can visit Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

The Laboratory
— Anytime —

A location where a lot of Heroes of Light seem to be gathering is Palitutu's Laboratory. It is a place where employed characters can research into various topics. However, most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...

Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons).

At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.

The Hospital
— Anytime —

Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up by the Crystal of Fire like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred of other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.

A couple Moogles and a few nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. Upon exiting the room, they will also meet a lot of guards, and they all have for order to shoot anyone that comes out of this room without a Moogle. Hopefully you won't try running out without waiting for your Moogle. As for why the guards are so on edge, it might be a good idea to ask the other Heroes of Light about what happened last year.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
— 12:00 —

Characters venturing by between the Airport this specific time will be able to see a most peculiar sight: a flying saucer seemingly abducting a Hypello before flying away and disappearing into the sky without leaving any traces of its presence. Was it an UFO or just a hallucination?

Previous sightings of such a thing have happened. Maybe we are on the verge of a full-scale alien invasion... Or not really.

Moogles, yes. Though they seem to be far more common in this world… [there is a moogle delivery service, but… she's sure they don't have the same numbers. But then, who knows what the rest of the Eorzean moogles do…]

Ah, I see. You're getting to know the area? [that makes sense.]
sullenstallion: (64)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-05-16 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
[How could she be so wrong. They're clearly called Kupos, and he's not going to budge on that. He'll just keep that to himself, at least.]

They're kind of annoying, aren't they. [At least his is.] Yeah. I guess you could say that. I can't sit where they dragged me into this place all day.
unyieldingspirit: (how do I put this)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-05-25 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
[this ain't Pokemon yeah, probably for the best.]

They've got a terrible tendency to sign you up for things, too. […well, Sika asks sometimes, but still.] No, I wouldn't want to do that either. Would you mind some company?
sullenstallion: (14)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-05-25 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It better not do that.

[He says that loudly just in case his Moogle is still watching from nearby. It's a warning. He doesn't like being forced into things.

But company? That's the last thing he wants, honestly, or at least that's what he tells himself. His emotions and his desires and his doubts are always at conflict with each other.]

I'll pass. You can go and do whatever you want.

[He's trying to be blunt so that she doesn't keep persisting, but even that feels kind of mean. She doesn't seem that bad, or she wouldn't if he weren't convinced he was a horrible monster with new things to figure out for himself.]
unyieldingspirit: (until the end and then beyond)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-05-25 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[she nods, ears twitching with the movement.]

I'll wish you all the best with that.

[there's an undeniable droop at the word 'pass', but, well. They're strangers- she can hardly expect everyone to be so open at first. It's hardly as though she doesn't have her own concerns. She's still intrigued, though, so she twitches her ears back up with an accompanying flick of her tail.]

All right. But if you should decide you would like some company, or perhaps just an ear- [and there is an earwiggle to go with that, of course!-] I should like to offer what aid I can. [and she holds out a hand] K'pandolu Tohka.
sullenstallion: (95)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-05-26 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[He pauses, not entirely convinced anyone should be wishing him good luck right now.]

Yeah. I guess I'll need it.

[He notices the way her ear twitches, and then his own twitches in a subconscious response. He understands that, at least, and he can't say he's met someone else with furred ears that hasn't earned them through some sort of transformation.]

What are you exactly?

[A manticore? Except she's missing most of the features for that. It's confusing. Either way, it earns her a few more seconds with him...for better or worse.]
unyieldingspirit: (until the end and then beyond)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-05-29 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Anyone who comes to this world deserves at least a little, if someone were to ask her.

She straightens up a little at that, tail twitching.]

I'm a miqo'te- though that might not mean much to you if you're not familiar with Eorzea. Might I ask what you are in turn?

[It's not rude if he asked first, right?]
sullenstallion: (92)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-05-30 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[He repeats the word. Miqo'te. He's just making sure he has the pronunciation right. When she asks him in return, he sort of freezes for a second. It's clear he didn't expect that question, even if he opened himself up to it. Dylas doesn't want to go around telling everyone what kind of monster he spent months slowly turning into, he'll just. Keep it simple.]

I'm a monster. It's not a good idea to keep talking to me.

[That's what he tells himself, even though he feels...mostly in control of his urges. That's a nice change.]
unyieldingspirit: (how do I put this)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-05-30 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
No?

[look she has talked to a bunch of the beast tribes back home, although most of the individuals she's talked to have been fairly friendly. And honestly, he seems friendly enough himself- or not actively aggressive, anyway- so she's not sure what the problem is.]

We've been talking well enough until now, though. Is that likely to change?
sullenstallion: (23)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-05-30 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Er...

[They have been talking well, haven't they? Which is unusual for him, usually he has to trip and fall flat on his face conversationally. He doesn't usually get along with anyone. It's clearly because she's less annoying than other people, that's the only reason.]

...Yeah. It's, uh, a good day today.
unyieldingspirit: (how do I put this)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-06-08 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear that. Everyone should have good days, don't you think?

[…although, thinking about it, that would include enemies, wouldn't it? Ah, well. That… does seem to happen, after all. Still! That's not important right now, and she offers him another grin.]

So- I don't believe I heard your name. Who is it being a good day for again?
sullenstallion: (92)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-06-08 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't agree with that, no.

[And while she could sit there and reason that Dylas is thinking about enemies and villains, she might also realize he's talking about himself. He's the only person in the conversation that he really knows, after all, and something about his tone sounds personal.]

It's Dylas. Just...Dylas. Nothing else.
unyieldingspirit: (puff puff)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-06-09 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No…?

[She catches the tone, and frowns, not entirely sure what to make of it. Surely he can't believe he doesn't deserve good things? Perhaps she ought to keep an eye out for him.]

Dylas. she nods, committing it to memory.] What kind of world did you come from, may I ask? [maybe that'll tell her a little about his background.]
sullenstallion: (1)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-06-09 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people are awful. That's all I'm saying.

[The conversation is taking a turn for the weird, and just like his deerlike features might suggest, he feels like making a run for it. But he stays firmly planted to the ground, half out of fatigue and half because there's a pervading sense of maybe needing to address this at some point anyways.]

I've been to two worlds. This isn't the first time I've been yanked somewhere against my will. It's still a pain in the ass the second time.
unyieldingspirit: (puff puff)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-06-09 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose there are people I wouldn't wish a good day for… But the less said about them the better.

[she's the one to start instead, ears twitching in distress.]

Two- you mean there are other places like this?

[Twelve forfend.]
sullenstallion: (93)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-06-09 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I can agree to that.

[Especially if it means he gets to keep his own mouth shut. His ears fall back against his head as his tail gives long, uneasy lashes behind him. He's strolling into an uncomfortable territory now, but he can be vague about it.]

Yep. There was a goddess. And a war. She needed soldiers. None of us wanted to be one. I'm not even sure the war was real.
unyieldingspirit: (biting is imminent)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-06-09 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her own tail lashes in turn, quickly from base to tip, and she just manages to cut off a hiss.]

That's- simply despicable. Pulling people from their own homes, just to serve your own purposes…? What gives people like that the right?
sullenstallion: (92)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-06-11 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
She was a fog goddess or something like that so I'm pretty sure she didn't care about the right. She was a real piece of sh...

[Er.]

I avoided her as much as I could. I did pretty well. I think. It's hard to tell, she had a lot of power.
unyieldingspirit: (aether)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-06-11 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[K'pandolu hmphs all the same, shoulders held tightly, a mix of what she's learned of Crystallis and the primals of Eorzea burning in her gut.]

If she could reach across worlds, perhaps she did. But why not recruit people from within her own world? What benefit did that bring?

[What did she gain by using those people of other worlds, she wonders.]
sullenstallion: (93)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-06-12 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. I think it had something to do with...something that happened a long time ago. They couldn't be. [Monsters, like him.] Useful.

[He's growing increasingly uncomfortable. Aside from his tail, the rest of his features are cervine, like an agitated buck, but that doesn't stop him from grinding one hoof on the cobblestones like an upset stallion.]
unyieldingspirit: (how do I put this)

[personal profile] unyieldingspirit 2016-07-01 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing we can ascertain from here, in other words.

[and she can definitely recognise that as a sign that they should move on, stilling for a moment at the sound. time to do that.]

So- what do you like to do for yourself?
sullenstallion: (2)

[personal profile] sullenstallion 2016-07-01 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Nothing I can solve from here, anyway.

[And he could answer her, but there's that dark part of him that's urging him to do what he think is best. He goes for it, but he feels guilty for it at the same time.]

...you should probably ask someone else that. Someone you'll actually speak to a second time. I'm hoping we never cross paths again.

[He just goes straight for the jugular with his words. He doesn't really mean it, not like he used to, but now he feels like he has to say these things. It's for her benefit, not his.]
