[The steam from the dishes is overwhelming, and one of the cooks has had too many onions chopped by his own hand to see white fur poking through the flap used as a door. Annie is hungry, and Mognet wages aren't enough to satisfy all of her needs.

She slides into the makeshift kitchen and hides behind the boxes of vegetables, waiting for her next move. Without a bowl, most of the menu can't be carried off, but the sandwiches and desserts? That's what she's here for.

[Annie's timing was perfect as Saori was tending to sandwich prep. The bread of choice: a large dinner roll cut horizontally. A thin layer of finely shredded cabbage went on top. She then reached for the star of the sandwich: two patty shaped croquettes just fried to golden perfection a few minutes ago. A light brushing of a tangy looking sauce went down and the masterpiece was complete.

Just as she finished, she turned her head when she heard her name and eventually had her back towards the tempting sandwich.

[Excellent. Annie rubs her paws together in glee. Not only did she pick the right stand, but a Hero that she knows is a great cook is making her a sandwich! That sauce...this has to be hers!

Like a spy she's read about, she takes a box of wood disposable forks, dumps the remaining contents into another identical box, and pulls it over her. According to the book, that spy hid under a cardboard box when the enemy got too closer, disguising himself as cargo. In case she didn't fly back to her hiding place in time, she'd have a disguise.

With the perfect opportunity to steal it, she flies up to the plate, nabs the sandwich, and zooms back to floor, holding the tight in her arms and staying closer to the edge of the room.

[Though the conversation with one of line chefs was brief it was long enough to gurantee a successful theft. She turned around to resume her work when...wait. Where did it go?]

Huh...? That's strange. Did any of you take the croquette sandwich that was here?

[There was an unanimous "no" from the others. She looked around her work station. Some of the panko breadcrumbs left a faint trail.

Meanwhile, Annie was in for a treat. The croquettes were still warm on the inside and crunched softly when she took a bite. The mashed potatoes remained fluffy while the chopped caramelized onions and corn added a subtle sweetness to it. In the middle of the patty-shaped goodness was a layer of gooey cheese. To top it off, a brown sauce provide a savory and slightly tangy note while the shredded cabbage added more texture to the masterpiece surrounded by the softness of the dinner roll. Saori figured a vegetable based croquette had a wider appeal to the different races attending the festivities and it was drawing a crowd. Plus deep fried savory food was always a winner for the drinking crowds.

It was only then did Saori notice upturned box of forks out of place. She crouched down and carefully lifted the box up.

[Annie couldn't help herself and took a bite out of that warm sandwich. Mmmmmm...

She wasn't able to voice just how delicious it was, but Saori knew how to put in the perfect about of cheese so it gave the sandwich a gooey flavor without overpowering the rest of the ingredients. The warm mashed potatoes filled her mouth with happiness, and the sweetness gave her a small burst of energy she needed.

Unfortunately, bliss is a fleeting emotion, and her enjoyment was cut short when the darkness of the cardboard box was replaced by the light of day and Saori standing over her. Annie looked up for a moment, swallowed what she bit, and flew up to the ceiling as fast as her small wings would let her. Time for the quick escape!

[Unfortunately for Annie, Saori was an Assassin and that required equipping one of the fastest jobs available. Except if she wanted to get up to where the moogle was, she had to jump on the counters which was pretty much a sin in the kitchen. Instead of being angry, she was rather surprised by the reveal of the sandwich culprit.]

H-hey now come back here! I promise nothing bad is going to happen. Let's get you out of here first.

Eep!

[Annie heard a squeak escape from her mouth and berated herself for being scared. She was an upcoming spy, not a scared teenager! She clutched the sandwich to her chest defensively as she flew the length of the wall, searching for a flap in the tarp to fly through.

She was at that stage where she didn't trust most adults to go easy on her, so escape was her number one priority.

There! She threw one section of the stand's cloth and shoved herself through the flap.

Oh for the love of...! You're so lucky I'm not with the police any more!

[She rushed her way to the exit to climb the closest building and to tail the Moogle. Teenagers. She hoped her own kids wouldn't be like this but priorities!

Free-running is great when chasing after sandwich thieves. Wait a second. Her target was a Moogle and what do they love more than anything?
]

Oh well, I guess that means I won't be making any of my Kupo Nut Macarons later!

[Annie dashed into the side streets to avoid the crowd and flew for her life. She didn't see Saori running after her, but she knew she wasn't safe. Crap, where could she go? She ran a list of tall buildings in her mind that were impossible to climb up quickly as she sped down the narrow claustrophobic roads.

And then. Her voice. Up above. Saori was already on the rooftops, which was bad news. Even worse, she mentioned the best dessert ever. Macarons that cost more than Annie's usual snack budget. Was the sandwich worth it...?

No! She couldn't give up! Annie shook her head, slowing down for a second before speeding up and heading towards the Mognet district.
