Heran Stand - July 27th

"AH! AH! This... this is the most wonderful thing in existence!"

Within the ruins of the Sixth District and the desolate stands of the Heran section, Deadpool can be seen gazing at one of the many devices around. Was it the weapons? The medical supplies?

No.

"It's a PHONE!" Deadpool said, almost on the verge of tears. "Actual, 100% pure technology! No more letters! No more letters right here!" He turns to the booth running, a huge grin forming under his mask. "Please, you have to let us have this! This can modernize the world! I can give you a good cut... say... 25%? No, 30! 40, even! We can revolutionize the world the same way airships have!"

The stand runner is... confused and dazed.

Ales hadn't planned on partaking in this silly spectacle. His time is better spent in the lab, practicing the skills that would allow him to hack into Ultima WEAPON and finally a savior this world needs. However, even a mad scientist needs to let his mind rest, and the weather is decent enough to take a walk.

He picks the sixth district since that's the quiet part of town. Very few are willing to interact with the Herans, but he was fascinated by the magitek on display in Aqures Tosf. There had to be something good here.

He's distracted by familiar frenetic ranting over by one of the stands. Normally, he'd ignore the idiot, but Deadpool is one of the Heroes he doesn't dislike. That doesn't mean he likes him, just the he doesn't feel like screaming when Ales thinks about him. Something must have grabbed his attention, something like...

"A phone?! Johnny and I were crazy for one of these to be invented!" He leaps up to grab the top of a stool provided for the tiny residents and hoists himself into a standing position where he can better see.

"This could change everything! Leader can hash out treaties! Instant military coordination! Once we set up a network, Aqures Oxen will be the world's most modern city!"

[A. Mysidian Discovery - July 27]

[Ed loved Mysidia, and would probably be living there if it was more convenient to Aqures Ixen. Ah well. This little oasis in the festival is a nice way of visiting without having to leave home.

Video games are very novel to him, who'd never seen anything like it until arriving from Aqures Ixen. They're still a couple decades out from his own time back home. He's not very good at them either, but he's having fun losing at a motorcycle racing game.]

Ah, well, I was never the best at driving, anyway.

[What he spends more time at, though, is spending all of his money on spell components and books at the vendor booths. He's bought a lot, and seems to have gotten into an argument with a Bangaa who thinks he's owed more money than Ed gave him. Ed's claiming he's paid what the vendor quoted him and refuses to give over any more. It's hard to tell who's right here. Someone might want to step in before this escalates.]


[B. Mini Trano Goldsaucia - July 28th]
[It's no surprise Ed has no money. Here is is blowing it away at games of chance aiming at some eerily-familiar targets. His aim isn't so great but he's determined to get something for his trouble.]

[C. Midnight Airship - July 30th]
[Ed's got some drinks and a seat with a view for the fireworks display. Well, maybe a few too many drinks. He watches the show with a sleepy and wistful look, arms folded and chin resting on the railing. If anyone comes by, he manages a tired smile for them.]

Nothing makes you appreciate freedom than something like this, huh? It's really amazing. And looking out over the dark like this, you'd never know anything was wrong down there.

Carnival games. Somehow, time and space and different planets, but they're always the same. Jack slides up to the shooting gallery behind Ed with a grin on his face.

Game Stands, Mini Trano Golsaucia, Jul 27

Santa has already heard the moogle's fortune for him, and after he finishes cackling madly, he moves on to the game stand. He studies the 10 treasure box guessing game, but he's not picking up any epiphanies from the morphogenetic fields.

"Hey, what's the grand prize?" he demands from the bored-looking tarutaru teen running the stand.

"If you win, you getaru the big-wig moogle plushie."

Santa frowns. He doesn't really want it, but he hates losing. He studies the boxes a bit longer, not quite ready to commit to opening one.

Summer Christmas, 9th District, Jul 29

Santa snorts at the display, but Christmas presents for poor, orphaned kids are kind of his kryponite. He scratches the back of his head and sighs.

"Ok, geez. You're layin' it on kinda think." But he looks around to make sure nobody he knows is watching, then dumps the contents of his wallet into the donation box.

Midnight Airship, Jul 30th, hopefully with Duster
[A letter, sent to Duster after the festival starts.]
Hey, I was thinking of maybe going on that airship ride to watch the fireworks. It'd suck less if you came along. If you wanted to. You're usually up pretty late anyways, right? -Aoi]

Santa's pacing back and forth at the entrance to the airport. Not that he's nervous or anything. He's got on a real shirt, with real sleeves, and pants with a normal number of pockets and no extraneous zippers or chains. He may have showered with a body wash scented with cinnamon before he dressed himself. No reason.

Was this letter just sent to him? There was no mention of Akane, but Duster can think of other people Aoi would invite (he does have more than one friend. He's sure). The issue is that after that walk in the rain weeks ago, a simple invitation can mean something a while lot more.

Tamekichi continued his teasing that next day, asking how the "date" went, adding his own commentary whenever Duster said something that could even be remotely constructed at dirty. That was true torture. Not because he hated the idea of dating Aoi, no, Duster was surprised by how unbothere he was by the possibility. Aoi is kind of...hot. They get along well. But he can't tell if Aoi just thinks of Duster as a friend or he stays close to him on purpose.

The letter gives him some hope. Maybe Aoi does like him. Maybe they can clear things up.

Duster wears cargo pants with a bright T-shirt he won at a game yesterday when he arrives at the airport ten minute before departure time. He's fiddling with the insides of his pockets, only glancing up to check where Aoi is waiting for him. It would be weird to keep looking at him the whole time.

He stops just a few steps away, biting his lip while he thinks of what to do.

"...Hey."

Theater Plays: July 27, July 30, August 2.

July 27: The 4 Heroes of Light.
Jack is at the Ninth District each day, taking in the plays, because so far, one of his favorite things has been to see the different versions of the story of the Heroes of Light. The 4 Heroes of Light is familiar, but with the background that they now know, it takes on a more bittersweet feel to Jack. Perhaps the romance was true, an Ancient falling in love with one of the very people they had brought here to sacrifice to their world? It's a comforting thought.

July 30: The 12 Heroes of Light.
The operatic version, The 12 Heroes of Light, has also taken on a different meaning, thanks to Zelda. The Warrior, the Monk, the Thief, Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage. The Paladin and Dark Knight, the Archer, Dragoon, Scholar...and the Summoner. These were all real people, the real Heroes of Light who died, and their skills became the first Jobs. Just like the Job that Jack now carries, Bearer of Wisdom. But he watches the actress playing the Summoner carefully. Why did Kalki keep saying that Garland feared the Summoners? The power of these Eidolons? And the Eidolons are what, exactly? Belief? Thought become form? Jack isn't even sure anymore.

August 2: The 100 Heroes of Light.
You know what's weird? Watching a fictionalized version of people that you know doing something that you remember doing. Especially since Jack is pretty sure he is already...familiar...with the actor playing Sparks Nevada. He couldn't be more grateful that his own actions went under the radar during that battle.

But he grows quiet again when Kalki appears, towards the end of the play, waiting for the Heroes as the real Kalki was a year ago. He still remembers that real moment, at the Crystal of Fire, when Jack asked her to dance as a stalling tactic. The last time he would see her.

What is it he still thinks of Kalki? Respect? Pity, now that he knows how...small her true plan was? Becoming a god, was that all? He thought her goal was something more real. Maybe he is still disappointed.

August 2

Ales hadn't bothered to watch the play for most of the festival. That was just legends, myths, nonsense. However, the temptation of watching a dramatized account of a battle he participated in a year ago was too much. He missed a large portion due to heroically sacrificing himself and the airship he piloted to push back the enemy. Sure, the other passengers were killed, but sacrifices had to be made.

He remains silent for most of the play. Actors stream in left and right, some wearing only a mask to indicate which Hero they were portraying, others actually resembled the part. Airships sailed in the back, and fictional Ales was on there. There was a sinking feeling that he would never see himself. Was it because they couldn't figure out a way to dress up as a Teensie? Just get a Tarutaru! If he doesn't see himself, this will be a waste of time!

His irritation shows through as the first wave of Heran airships fly in. "Come one...come on..."

Game Stands

[Pyrrha's got a busy schedule with the blitzball tournament now that she's in the starting lineup, but that isn't stopping her from having a little fun. In particular, she seems to be cleaning up at the shooting gallery, and by the time she's finished she's got way too many cute plushies of moogles, chocobos, and goofy chibi versions of the Final Fantasy main series villains.]

Oh my... I think I got a little carried away. How am I going to carry all of these home?

Blitzball Stadium

[And, of course, there's the aforementioned tournament to consider. Pyrrha ends up on the offensive line, charging through the opposing team and delivering goal after goal for the Aqures Chocobos. When the game is over and she emerges from the locker room, she's mobbed by a crowd of fans asking for autographs after the game.]

Ah... hello again!

[She's clearly used to fame, but no better at dealing with the attention that comes from it. Still, she's smiling and waving and signing her name on peoples' blitzballs all the same.]

Game Stands

[Duster should have known better than to pick the luck-based carnival games, but as destiny would have it, he ran into those stands first. Five bankruptcies on the Wheel of Luck is more than enough to convince him never to pick up the Gambler Job.

He quits, and it's down the next row of games he goes. It's not long until he sees a pile of plushies with legs attached to it.

Um. [He circles around Pyrrha until he can see her face.] Need any help?

Mysidia

[Chiaki's finished working on her giant robot, and feeling a little better about Hajime, so she's back to doing what she does best - playing a lot of video games. When the airships start their circuit between the cities, she's one of the first people on the ship to Mysidia, and spends the first few days of the festival bouncing from arcade to arcade, playing as many games as she can manage before returning to Aqures Ixen. She'd love some company, though, if there are any fellow game lovers about.]

Triple Triad Tournament

[The reason she has to rush back, unsurprisingly, is for more gaming. Her first match was conveniently timed for a few days in, affording her the time she needed for her earlier trip. And she wouldn't miss this tournament for the world, considering she had to share second place at the last one after being matched up with Yugi. There's a particular fire in her eyes as she competes, even if her expression is its usual somewhat blank one.]

Heran Stand

Wow, this stuff is pretty advanced...

[In her spare time, Chiaki peruses the marvelous mechanical wonders at the Heran stand - most especially the Magitek stuff.]

Self-attacking weapons, huh? This is pretty close to computer AI. I wonder if it would be possible to install something like this in the Usami Z...

Triple Triad

The tournament a few months ago has made a regular player out of Kaji. At the very least, he feels the need to test that title of champion that he's got. Beginner players, even some higher level ones, he can beat. But he knows better.

Kaji stubs out his cigarette when his next opponent appears. The one he'd been hoping to see here. "Chiaki Nanami. The person who should have won that tournament."

Aquatic Minipark

[Now this is just the kind of relaxation Levy has been needing lately. As soon as the water park opens, she's off for a few days of fun in the sun, dressed in a striped bikini and a pair of sandals. She spends some time just floating in an inner tube in the middle of the pool at first, but it's not long before she's off to the biggest water slide the place has to offer. And if she sees anyone she knows along the way, she makes extra sure to drag them along for the ride - whether or not they're dressed for it.]

Culinary Attractions

[And what better way to cap off a day of summer fun than with a free buffet? Levy loads her plate up with all sorts of food from nearly every booth available, and especially plenty of pastries and sugary sweets. She's been burning the candle at both ends lately, after all, so she's got a lot of energy to get back.]

Mmm... everything looks so delicious! I'll have one of these, and one of those, and - oh, two of those...

[One wonders where she's putting it all in that tiny frame of hers, but everyone in Fairy Tail is a big eater.]

Fireworks - Locked to Tsubomi

[Levy's been doing a good job keeping her promise of taking it easy during the Festival of Light, even if she has had to spend some time putting the finishing touches on the anti-Palitutu armor. And she hasn't forgotten that she also promised to spend some quality time with Tsubomi during it all. So on the last night of the festival, she calls her girlfriend up to the roof of the Fairy Tail building to watch the final fireworks display with her. And she may have a few other surprises in store, too...]

[And Tsubomi's been keeping up her end of the bargan, making sure that Levy was getting out and about instead of being all cooped up working on the armor. With everything going on, this little bit of a moment is probably one of the best times around.]

MIDNIGHT AIRSHIP: August 01st

[Terra isn't planning to dance though she isn't opposed to it. She's wearing the one very nice dress she owns which wraps beautifully around her thin frame. She spends her time on the ships deck, her eyes on the view that rolls beneath them. She's on the look out for fireworks though she'll greet anyone who comes her way with a smile and a friendly word.]

MOOGLE EXPOSITION: July 30th

[Terra is with Tempest as she walks around the moogle exposition. There is a light smile on her lips as she sees everything there is. She pauses at the bags and compliments those who are working at the stands. Tempest picks up Pom Shiner only to flush and quickly put it down. It isn't like there are any boy moogles she wants to look pretty for but then maybe there is.]

I don't need it. Let's go!

AQUATIC MINIPARK: July 29th

[Terra decides to spend a day sitting next to the water. She's wearing a red bathing suit and Tempest made sure that she'd be protected by sunscreen before heading out. Her bag sits a few yards behind her so its out of the way of the water and those splashing.

She has her feet in the water, her legs lazily kicking back and forth as she enjoys the warmth of the sun.

Tempest is with her too but the little moogle is floating on an inner-tube somewhere in the pool.]

BOTANICAL WONDERS: July 28th

[Bees and bugs don't really bother Terra. She's worked with flowers enough to be used to the side effects of their presence.

She goes to the Botanical Gardens as soon as possible and marvels at the bright sights of flowers littered through the area. She walks along the flowers pausing at the different species and leaning over to gently run the pad of her finger along a silky petal.

When a bug lands on her shoulder she brushes it away and turns to the next flower.]

FIREWORKS: August 2nd

[If there are fireworks then Terra will step out to see them. She loves the brightly colored orbs as they burst like fire in the air. There is something amazing about them, like fire that's formed into something warm and happy. They remind her of flowers and there is something comforting despite the loud noises.

Wherever you spot her there is a small smile on her face as her chin is raised towards the sky.]

AQUATIC MINIPARK: July 29th

[Even though it's been rainy recently, it's that type of rain that never really cools the summer off enough for the water park plans in the 15th District to have been called off; it's still warm enough that splashing around in a cool pool is refreshment at it's finest. Not that Sephiroth has had much chance, outside of his various duties, to enjoy the Festival for himself.

However, the peak hours of the day come and go thankfully without incident and having relieved his post for the day to one of the senior officers he has supporting the security detail, it's a short detour to the residential district before Sephiroth arrives in Terra's vicinity. Long black beach shorts sit down and their muscled legs drop into the water next to her while she might have been daydreaming. Or maybe she's seen him coming already and of course he'd join her.]

I wasn't sure you'd still be here.

[Meanwhile Spencer drops out of the air a few feet further down the edge of the pool and approaches cautiously, dipping the very end of a small paw into the water as if testing it in some way.]

Sparks Nevada | open

[Sparks convinces himself to come to the festival not to play, but to keep an eye on things and make sure everything is safe. No early Palitutu attacks, no monsters, no random murders. Just people relaxing and having fun. Luckily for him, that's just what's going on, and he starts getting bored just patrolling. Stopping for a few festivities wouldn't hurt, right...?]

[A. Chocobo race - July 28th]
[Sparks wants to try the race, but he's never been very fond of chocobos. He's speaking with the people in charge, standing alongside his rocket steed, Mercury.]

No, look. C'mon. I won't have him use his rockets or anythin' else. Yeah, I know you seen me flyin' on him before, but I swear, I just wanna do a ground race with him. See how he stacks up against all these big smelly birds. What, are you afraid he might win or somethin' just on his own? What are ya? Chicken?

[B. Mini Trano Goldsaucia - July 30th]
[In passing, Sparks decides to stop at the treasure chest game to try his luck. And it seems to be his lucky day! He picks the chest that gets him... an enormous stuffed fat chocobo. Sparks physically droops as he's handed his prize, looking at it in disbelief.]

[C. 100 Heroes of Light play - August 2]
[Just to get off his feet for a bit, Sparks stops to take in one of the plays. It's nice to see there's a new one being performed, too. But it all starts hitting a little too close to home. He pokes the Hero sitting nearest to him on the shoulder.]

CHOCOBO RACES: July 31st

[Yuffie participates in a few of the races just to feel the adrenaline pump through her thin frame. It's easy to forget depressing things when you're thoroughly distracted and she loves the feeling of the wind whipping through her hair.

She doesn't win all of her races but afterwards there is always a goofy looking grin on her lips. She pats her chocobo's neck who begins to lightly eat her hair.]

Come on, Butterfly. That's enough.

[She bats the chocobo away but it doesn't work and the chocobo keeps trying to ear her hair.]

MONSTER ARENA: August 02nd

[Yuffie has to watch this, more so considering she's helped catch a lot of the monsters. It isn't until she sees the velociraptor with a top hat that she bursting into fits of uncontrollable laughter.]

That's ridiculous.

[Her fingers clutch her stomach and she tries to stop laughing.]

AQUATIC MINIPARK: July 30th

[THE WATER FIGHT IS ON!

Yuffie has a large water gun in her hand and two smaller ones strapped to her hips. She's taking this fight a little too seriously so be careful if you're caught in the cross fires. She's using all of her abilities to attack including her invisibility which is most likely cheating.

She disappears from her hiding spot in a puff of purple smoke teleporting closer to her target as she aims and fires.]

CULINARY ATTRACTIONS: August 30th

[Yuffie is eating everything in sight and will most likely end up with an upset stomach. At any point during the day she can be found with a different type of food. She likes savory over sweet though she isn't opposed to sweet things. Her favorite so far is the grilled meats.]

THE BATTLE OF THE CENTURY

[Some legends are told. Some are lived. Some... have to be experienced.

The event that takes place on this day is the latter of the three. Like Yuffie, Selphie is armed to the tee with water guns and one of the pouches at her hip might just have a water balloon or two in there. She's sporting a yellow bikini, a pair of denim shorts and flip flops with her tell tale impish smirk on her face.

Yuffie's barrage of water managed to get Selphie square in the back. The smirk takes on a playful look as the perky brunette counters with a quick pitch of one of her water balloons. The freshly turned eighteen-year-old knows that voice anywhere and can confirm that Aqures Ixen is going to be treated to one epic watergun fight.]

Don't think you're getting away with that Yuffie!

[Johnny stands with a Heran phone in his hand, his face frozen in awe and wonder.]

Oh my god. Oh my god. Youse guys made phones. Actual phones! There's hope for this planet yet!

[When not marveling over this new technological advancement, he'll be playing lots of video games. He'll be there every day actually, trying new ones or attempting to beat his previous high scores on others.]

[Monster Arena - July 29th]
[Thinking about entering the competition? Johnny is too, looking over the posters displaying the creatures up for fighting.]

Do ya really think the raptor's wearin' a top hat? Like... why?

[C. Culinary Stands - August 1st]
[Free food? That's the best news Johnny's heard in ages. He's walking around with a pile of food in his arms, enjoying everything he's got. Normally he eats like a famished horse, so he plans to take full advantage of this buffet.]

Have you tried this? I... don't actually know what it is, I think it might come from Aerlion? But it's great.

[Saori looked over at what Johnny was referring to. If there's one way to examine a region or a culture in her opinion, it had to be through its food. When she wasn't busy as a cop, or training as an Assassin, she was pouring over this world's culinary delights.]

Mysidian Discovery, July 27th

[Video games are a hobby that can be enjoyed by all ages, especially those from societies where technology is a pretty dang big deal. Why not take a break?

Unfortunately, it seems that all they have are old-fashioned arcade and puzzle games. No RPGs. Galactic Empire Simulator V is looong out of the Mysidian's scope. There aren't even characters with personalities he can write for. He doesn't want to vocally complain after all the work they put into it, but playing yet another platformer will be the opposite of fun.

So off he goes to the information booth to give his suggestions and a nudge further along the evolution of video games.]

So, for example, I was thinkin' about games more for the relaxed crowd. Nothin' fast paced, maybe closer to exploration? Make a dungeon, put the player in it, have 'em explore and fight monsters. Heck, make it text-based!

[The poor Elezen at the booth doesn't even know what to do. She writes down some of what he says, thinking she can push these notes off to her boss of the programmers. ]

Mini Trano Golsaucia, July 28th and 29th

[Meetings and attempts at encouraging people to keep on trucking is exhausting. This old man needs a break, and he'll spend most of it at knocking down cans.

This was a lot easier when he could shoot lasers out of his chest, but he can't give up. There goes the ball...and it grazes past a can, only managing to nudge it.

The stand attendant has noticed his poor luck. She wishes she could tell him that he shouldn't waste his money, but...this is the Trano Golsaucia part. They want everyone to give him all there money. She stays silent.]

Okay, okay, I'm gonna try this again. Gotta get my throwin' arm ready! []He jokes, and pays for another round.]

Space Saloon, every July 27th to August 02 during Fireworks

[Considering how much he was bothered by the fireworks in Aqures Tosf, you'd expect Mordecai to complain about being forced to stay up late night after night. This wasn't the case this year, as he had not come in from a fierce battle, traded words with Kalki, and had to suffer crushed ribs until someone was kind enough to heal his wounds. Now that he's properly well rested, he can enjoy the festivities like a normal person.

Every night, he has his best beer kegs out on the counter: bottomless beer every midnight until 1 in the morning, all for 1000 gil!

This is great for business. Noisy, but a lucrative business plan.]

Space Saloon

[Ramza has not been feeling up to much of the festival, but he does make sure to show up at the Space Saloon each evening, in case the revelers get up to any trouble.]

A. Summer Christmas - July 29
[As someone who had the Santa Claus job, she empathized with those dressed up in such inappropriate outfits for the current weather. After she had dropped off her donation, she got on the back of her chocobo with water bottles in tow. She would stop by the workers to pass the bottles to them as well as thanking them for their hard work.]

B. Aquatic Minipark - July 30 to August 1
[While this wasn't an official beach episode by any means, Saori couldn't say no to fun in the water. And it's not a summer party without a swimsuit. Nothing like a green halter style bikini to get some heads turning. If she wasn't in the water, she would be teaching the kids and adults how to play beach volley ball. Though sometimes a lesson can go astray like that incoming ball.]

C. Culinary Attractions - Anytime
[If there was a surefire way to get Saori's attention at a gathering, it's the food. Partially because food was a necessity but to watch how each of the makeshift kitchens operated. If she did notice one of the workers in need of the break, she was quick to volunteer her services. In between all the events going on during her time in this world, she always had time to learn more of the different food cultures her. Thankfully this world didn't strip her of her culinary expertise so any doubts the other chefs had about her melted like butter in a hot pan.]

[The steam from the dishes is overwhelming, and one of the cooks has had too many onions chopped by his own hand to see white fur poking through the flap used as a door. Annie is hungry, and Mognet wages aren't enough to satisfy all of her needs.

She slides into the makeshift kitchen and hides behind the boxes of vegetables, waiting for her next move. Without a bowl, most of the menu can't be carried off, but the sandwiches and desserts? That's what she's here for.]

[Ramza is not quite back up to full health after nearly dying last month, but with Rialynn pushing them both to go out and enjoy the festival, he thinks he can manage a race for a good cause. Tyche could use the exercise, if nothing else.

It would help if she would stop pecking at the other birds in the race, though. Ramza is not racing to win, but his chocobo apparently is, by any means necessary.]

Aquatic Minipark

[The last time Ramza went to the beach, he apparently disturbed poor Yuffie with his shirtlessness. So, this time around, he has selected a swimming suit that covers his chest and upper arms, as well as his backside and upper thighs. And it has classic blue and white stripes. How stylish.

He does not go on the slides, but he is willing to wade into some of the little pools that have been set up, and he is the epitome of a perfect water gun fight victim.]

Fishing Competition

[Ramza would not label his fishing skills as 'competitive', but it seems restful after a day out in the sun. He borrows a rod to give it a try.

When he pulls up his hook, there is a waterlogged leather boot attached. He examines it. Not a bad piece of footwear, actually.]

Ummm...is anyone here a size...let me see... size seven, perhaps?

[He drops his line back down into the water to see if he can complete the pair.]

The Plays

[Ramza attends all three versions, all the while hoping that the current Heroes have not irrevocably tarnished the Heroes of Lights' reputation. He prefers the first version, as it is the most similar to the plays he has seen in the past. His eyebrows are raised through most of the opera version. And he actually blushes and has to look away during parts of the final version. Really, the actor portraying him has such a large nose, and delivers truly ridiculous lines at strange moments.]

Well...that is...interesting. [That is the most polite way he can phrase it.]

[Rialynn hadn't thought Ramza would want to attend the plays, given how the two of them got hauled on stage the last time they went. So she hadn't brought it up. When he suggested it, her eyebrows rose high, and she had to admit that she did want to see them, albeit with a sheepish grin.]

[And so they go.]

[She watches the first two intently, leaning forward with her arms loosely wrapped around her legs, and seemingly unaware of anything else but the story they put on. Sometimes she picks up her journal and scratches a few notes, comparing the performance with the ones she's seen while traveling abroad, but she's quickly enraptured once again.]

[Then there's the final version. It takes her a moment sometimes to realize who's who, as there are some Heroes she's never met, and some that just don't look anything at all like their true counterparts. Like Ramza, for example.]

[As soon as the realization dawns on her, the corners of her mouth twitch into a smile as she looks from the actor, to Ramza, to the actor, to Ramza.]

Wait...wait, that's you?

[She didn't know much about the attack, and hasn't asked about the part he played, so this might be interesting and educational.]

[Aquatic Minipark - mid morning when open]

[Selphie isn't too fond of the heat having grown up in a mountainous region for most of her life. When she finds out about the Aquatic Minipark in the fifteenth district however, the girl throws on a yellow bikini, denim shorts and sneakers before running off at a mad dash from house C-04.

When she gets there, chest heaving and gulping down air, she finds not only the water slides, abundance of pools and people wandering around in swimsuits, but a small mountain of water guns begging to be used. She grins excitedly before sorting through the pile and finding a particularly large super soaker and several smaller handgun style guns that get pocketed for later use.

Suffice to say Aqures Ixen, you're going to have a pint-sized terror milling around the water park looking for victims who look like they need to cool off a bit. Friends and housemates are not exempt from this.]

[Mini Golsaucia - afternoons]

[Selphie seems to have fallen into the pit of the carnival games as she's gravitating from stall to stall to try her luck. So far, she isn't having much luck as she eventually sits down on a bench and pouts at the games. She ran out of the gil that she'd brought that day.

Her luck was non-existent and her aim was terrible. She'd eventually given up and let her head hang in defeat.]

Stupid games are rigged! [She'd eventually exclaim.]

[Cuppa Kupo - The rest of the time]

[The festival was going to be a profitable time for Cuppa Kupo and Selphie spared no detail in decorating the cafe to attract customers inside. There's colour windmills blowing in the planter boxes and streamers attached to the extended awning that covered a couple of seatings for those who wanted to enjoy the weather.

Inside, Selphie has decorated the interior of the cafe to bring it a fresh pop of colour. Crepe paper streams from every sconce and brightly coloured tablecloths adorn every table. The centre pieces on each table are unique and represent a different element, monster or creature on Crystallis. There was also a special menu crafted just in time for the festival featuring all sorts of special treats.

Even the moogle waiters were given brightly coloured bowties as Selphie paraded about the cafe in a yellow sundress with brown boots. When the door opens, the perky brunette is there with a flyer indicating the specials for the festivities.]

[The festival landed very close to Selphie’s birthday. Knowing that, Squall had spent some time looking for an appropriate gift for her, one that she would like but wouldn’t make a big deal out of. He wasn’t sure that was possible because she made a big deal out of everything but…

It was Selphie. One of the few people he cherished in the world. He didn’t care that it wasn’t on the exact day of her birthday he was giving this gift, but she'd understand.

He enters the café and instantly isn’t surprised that the place is dolled up in Selphie-Style festival decorations.]

Hey Selphie. Nice work you’ve done around here.

[He’ll give a compliment when it's deserved. Selphie’s business must be booming.]

[As Sephiroth has kept those soldiers he brought in enforcing the curfews and adding security to the streets last month stationed in Aqures considering what is coming, that means of course their commanding officer has to put some time in as well. He could delegate a larger chunk of his workload than he does but such is the life of a chronic workaholic.

In addition to the below prompts, it's possible to encounter Sephiroth both off and on duty throughout the Festival though generally while off duty he tries to spend as much time with Terra as he can make happen; though not so much as to appear overly clingy...maybe.]

[Monster Arena]
[What a hectic couple of days!

It begs one to wonder, who did the old-man who ran the Monster Arena have to bribe, exactly, to get the green-light for such a outright dangerous parade of dressed up monsters that various Heroes of Light had worked to deliver into captivity. Sephiroth had a hunch it might well have been Biggs' idea, just based on what he knew of the mans character.

Not only innocent, curious citizens, but children too..being encouraged by pink ribbons on Malboros, ridiculous costumes on zombies...glitter painted on red bombs. Clearly this is a recipe for disaster.

Hence the security reinforcements in and around the 14th District on both of those days. Indeed, if Sephiroth had been given the clearance to line the streets with barricades he would have seen it done personally if that's what it took, but instead he's pulling long hours coordinating and executing patrols just on the off chance that -somewhere- something might go wrong.

Not that he doesn't have faith in the abilities of other Heroes that live in the area to act as they might need to should a monster decide to break rank, but better that it doesn't get to that stage at all if it can be helped.]

[A small gathering in the 13th District; 02nd August]
[A year ago on this day had been the climax of the Battle of Aqures Ixen, when Kalki had met the Heroes of Light at the Fire Crystal and then displaced them all back into the past some 28 years.

Anyone could now see the 100 Heroes of Light play to get the basic gist, albeit with a few dramatic inconsistencies, of the fierce battle which had gone before. But to the more-solemn group gathered in the morning at the foot of the great four-piece statue that stands vigil over the vast graveyard, it's still much too soon to be taken so lightly. Citizens from both sides lost loved ones, family members who would never be replaced. Both armies had suffered losses which had then been made worse once Palitutu had commandeered the Weapon for herself; and now heavy on a lot of people's minds is the looming fact that this looks set to be repeated.

As the masses of Crystallis enjoy the Festival of Light for what could be the final time, a wreath of white flowers is laid at the foot of the central statue by a junior officer clad in full Esdham colors, as a mark of respect to the fallen.

Sephiroth is somewhere on the front line of the soldiers, all dressed up for the occasion, that have come to pay their respects with a moment of silence, along with anyone else -being native to Crystallis or not- that has gathered to do the same.

Afterwards, some stay to share their stories, to recount their losses to anyone that might hear. But it's not all in mourning still; it's as much of a celebration of the lives of those that had died, as any of the festivities that have gone on elsewhere for the last few days.]

[It's impossible to say when she walks up behind him, a boon of the Assassin jobs, but also Mary not wanting to interrupt what Sephiroth is doing. She's watched the whole ceremony, keeping her hood up to hide her face. The heat from the recent murders has died down but she still doesn't care to be too public following all that had happened. Thus the hood and the otherwise neglecting of the Kidd guise.

It's Mary who's preparing for the next battle anyway.

She steps up alongside the tall man, looking at hi briefly before her eyes trace back to the monument.]

It's good of you to take the time to come and do this. [She can't blame the others for taking the time to play games and relax, but sometimes she wonders how much they actually care about this world and its people.]

A. Moogle Exposition, July 27th

[Moogles. Moogles. All of them congregated around one district. How can Duster not spend an entire day there?

Duster buys a hat with the Mognet logo branded on it to show his support and wanders through each of the stalls to listen to each speech about each invention with all the intent usually reserved for sages. Moogles are cute, but they are a vastly intelligent and wise species (minus some bad eggs) that Duster can't help but be reminded of the Mr. Saturns.

The Moogles love him in return, particularly because he buys so many of their products and offers hugs to the younger Moogles wandering the stalls. He is in heaven.

Tamekichi, meanwhile, is only here for one thing. Dye and free stuff. You can see this Moogle wearing sunglasses all throughout the day, checking himself out in the mirror, walking up to a stand only to swipe a free pen, and hitting on any other Moogle he finds attractive.]

B. Botanical Wonders, July 28th

What's so bad about them?

[A young woman recoils in horror as Duster lets a long-legged insect crawl over his hand. He's seen these kinds of bugs back in Tazmily, and he knows they're completely harmless. Insects are a natural part of gardens.]

Look, it's just relaxing, don't worry.

[Nope, she has had enough of this. Another patron backs away, leaving Duster alone crouching by the flower bed.]

C. Culinary Attractions, August 1st-3rd

[That date with Santa turned out pretty okay! Much more than okay, judging by how Duster's humming as he limps from stall to stall to sample each of the dishes. He hadn't bothered to cook much in the past few days, and with the extra bit of gil in his pocket, he's going to treat himself for the upcoming battle by getting the best meals and dessert the city can offer. He regularly wakes up near noon, so it's not like he's ruining his eating schedule.]

Mmph, this is good!

[He compliments every dish he tries. He doesn't know if it's because he's in such a good mood or if the food is that amazing, but he's having fun.]

A. Moogle Exposition, July 27th (Spencer)

[The stands had only come with a certain amount of free pens and they were certainly not for any moogle to sneak up and just take! Spencer flits from the other side of the stand and eyes Tamekichi intensely. He knows this moogle took it just now, he saw it out of the corner of his eye!

Never mind that Spencer wears glasses; he knows Tamekichi took it.]

[ Chocobo Races ]

[Squall was actually pretty decent with chocobos. And since he didn’t have his own chocobo yet he had to rent one of the provided stable chocobos. It wasn’t… the greatest. Actually is was pretty terrible.

But Squall had promised Selphie he would try some activities and this seemed like the least ridiculous thing to do.

So he saddles up, adjusting the reigns in his hand and glances over at the competition.]

[Squall thought this was absolutely ridiculous. Why would they dress up monsters and irritate them like that when they were clearly dangerous? Who thought it was a good idea to put a ribbon on a Marlboro and think it wouldn’t start bad breathing literally everyone in sight?

And then they just had a whole damn parade of monsters all over the place… This festival was run by morons.

Squall eyes one of the velociraptors carefully, hand twitching at the sword latached at his side.]

[It just so happens that Sephiroth is nearby when Squall makes his comment, his own long sword not yet unsheathed from the reverse cross-back harness he wears it in but his hand rested near to the handle all the same. Judging by his attire, he seems to he wearing some type of military uniform and even his long silver hair is scraped back and tied up high; for maneuverability? More like to try and keep him cool.

For the most part eyeing the boundary between the street where the parade is passing and the front line of the crowds. He can count the men, from both military and police forces, standing and holding where he had stationed them.

For the time being though, the monsters were behaving...]

A: Botanical Wonders - July 27th - Closed to Albel

[ It was beautiful, it was romantic, and it was the last place Sheena had expected to be. After last "year's" festival and the events earlier this month, the ninja had had no intention of attending the celebration.

That was until Albel--in his own way--had convinced her otherwise. Had it really been only a year ago that the ice between them had started to melt?

And now look at the two of them, strolling slowly hand-in-hand through the blooms. Right now, the insects weren't too bad--keeping mainly to the flowers themselves or hidden completely from sight. Coming to a stop, Sheena drank in the sight: a gentle reminder of the beauty still in the world--brought to her by the romantic gesture of the man beside her.

Turning to Albel, she squeezed his hand before placing a shy and gentle kiss on his cheek, blushing as she did so. ]

B: Moogle Exposition - July 28th

[ Sheena hadn't gone to the Exposition the day before, and boy, had she heard about it from Corrine. He had laid on a guilt trip so thick the ninja could still feel it. Not that she really couldn't blame the little guy. She really hadn't been too much company for him lately, and felt she should make it up to him. Especially since he had been so excited about this from the very beginning.

So, early that morning--or as early as they possibly could with a Moogle Exposition, they headed out, the ninja finding it pretty hard to keep up with the happy furball in front of her. ]

Hurry, Sheena! Or you'll miss everything about Kupo Nuts! Hurry, kupo!

All right, all right!

[ Her laughter stopped as they approached the attraction, her steps slowing until they, too, halted. Hands on her hips, she looked around at the various displays, her voice low enough not to be overheard by the Moogle flying ahead of her, but loud enough for anyone passing by. ]

Man...that's a lot of nuts.

C: Theater - July 30th

[ Okay, so maybe the last Festival of Light she had attended was the one from 28 years ago, but from her experience, traditions tended not to change. Sure, they were added to, but not changed.

Especially plays that were "reenactments".

Standing outside the theater, reading the blurbs, she turned to the person closest to her. ]

D: Fireworks - All days

[ There was just something about fireworks that no matter how many times you saw them, you just couldn't get enough of them. So, every night of the festival, Sheena could be found watching them from various places in the city.

On the roof of her house, in the city itself, or perhaps even on the Midnight Airship, friendly and welcoming to anyone who might want to join her.

And she might be overheard saying as she lay back with Corrine in her lap to watch the show: ]

[There's still time before the fireworks start and Mordecai has to manage the Space Saloon during Festival Happy Hour, meaning that taking time to enjoy a play. He already saw the play about four Heroes of Light, and he hated it. The the princess and the Warrior no chemistry, the Black Mage and White Mage needed more screentime, and Monk/Princess was the ship that should have sailed. Maybe this version would be better.

He looks over the list of actors when Sheena catches his attention.]

Video games! Video games as far as the eye can see! Oh, if only Yang were here! She's more than certain she would enjoy them all! She can't help but zip to each one, all in awe over them all. She can't help but grab someone out of curiosity and a huge smile.

Aquatic Mini-Park - July 30th

To be quite fair, Ruby and water parks probably aren't a thing for her. Donning a simple red one-piece swimsuit, she looked positively out of place here. She should be going elsewhere and doing other things and yet... this was here.

"Oh, why am I here again? I'm going to get all sunburned." she mumbled. "I also feel naked."

Mini Trans Golsaucia - August 1st

"Ma'am, I really suggest using one of our guns for this. Not yours."

Hey, there was a shooting gallery and what better place to do so than to use Crescent Rose's sniper mode. Of course, the person in charge wasn't too keen on the idea of her using her gun and wanted her to use one of the more safer ones.

"Whaaa?" Ruby complained. "That's not fair - it says shooting gallery, but it doesn't say why I can use!"

Midnight Airship - Also August 1st

Ruby and heights were a good combination, to be honest. At least it wasn't being accompanied by the sounds of someone getting airsick. She opted to just stand outside and enjoy the view, her now-long hair and crimson cloak flowing in the breeze.

"It's nice up here, isn't it?" Ruby idly asked. "The view, the parties... all of it."

"You look great though," said Erika, sidling up and poking Ruby in the sides.

She was dressed in a frilly pale blue swimsuit with her hair up in a ponytail. "Here, have some sunscreen."

Moogle Exposition-Ophelia-
Ophelia knew the Heroes were worried. They had a lot going on, and she herself was worried. It was almost a year's anniversary to when they all vanished before, not to mention everything that had happened the last few months. Plagues, murders... She frowned to herself, as she hadn't even been able to organize storytime recently!

Hopefully being around other moogles would help, plus she was always willing to help educate. Her red scarf was distinctive as she fluttered around the crowds.

Some might think it an odd choice, but one of the things Vincent did actually want to see was the botanical exposition. Given his leaving of flowers for whom he regarded in the Crystalised Hero's wing, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. He's taking no notice of any insects that might be around, and wandering with his thoughts kept to himself as he does so.

No one who knew him would be surprised, but Vincent was at the shooting stand. Mind, he was only there at certain times once the main-guy in charge of it seemed aware of who he was. No more playing at being a lucky beginner for Vincent anymore, at least not all the time.

Still, it amused him and any prizes he won that were appropriate were going straight into the donation box at the Christmas booth.

[With just a week left until their meeting with Palitutu, you might think Jade would be working hard to prepare. The truth is, he's now in the mood to do just about anything else. There's little left they can do now, and certainly no point in scrambling for some last minute plan.

Besides, you can only work on saving the world for so long before you need to take a step back and remind yourself what you're trying to save in the first place. Sometimes grounding yourself in the mundane is the best thing to do.]

[Sephiroth has only popped into the coffee shop while the latest rain cloud was deciding how much it wanted to pour on Aqures on this occasion. Over the last few days it's been rainy quite often, but it never really releases much of the summer temperatures. Still, it's times like this when places such as Cuppa Kupo get a sudden rush of clientele, all waiting for the rain to pass. He's stood in the queue at the counter as it seems they've started to take orders from the line of people waiting.

The double-take is real as Jade gets to his turn. And though he doesn't say it, the surprise lingers in his tone well enough.]

Betel-Po isn't always the most reliable, except to his hero, but he's still happy to drag Lydia to the Moogle Exposition. He takes particular pride in pointing out the mognet machine, and the different kupo nuts. Lydia didn't know there were so many varieties of them.

Considering how pale she is, and her vampire-job, people might be surprised to find Lydia at the Water-park. Nevertheless, there she can be found at times. Red one-piece swimsuit and she's having a blast on the water-slides, or she's relaxing by the side of a pool with an oversized hat and sunglasses on and people-watching.

At the play on the 27th and 30th

Lydia had missed the plays last year, and was curious about the origin of the Heroes of Light. Yes, the play probably took some liberties--but that was alright. She'd enjoy it anyway, and go look up inaccuracies later.

Come the next play, the Opera on the 30th, Lydia is intrigued that the number of Heroes went up. The idea of a 13th Hero was interesting, and she wondered if this was supposed to reflect a historical event too. Could it have been one of the previous cycles?

Lydia is pleased to have more film, and while she plans to get pictures of all the Heroes of Light, she's also looking for good shots anywhere. She'll be found at various points of the festival with her camera seeing if anything catches her eye.

Sunlight is healthy, after all, and the stalls do make for an interesting sight. As he wanders through the streets of the research district, his dark cape should be familiar to Lydia.

[Akane hovers near the tables, turning her new box of cards over and over in her hands. She's definitely interested in the games, but a little unsure how close she should move in to get a better look. She wouldn't want to risk hovering and annoying some players, nor would she want to break their concentration. But she'd sure like to be a better player, that's for sure! Maybe she just needs a more diverse set of cards to play with.]

[Hence, the new pack she just bought. Originally she bought them with the intent of opening them at home, but... No, she can't wait that long! Eagerly she opens the pack to see if she got any rare cards.]

...I guess that's not too terrible.

[Her rarest card is an Abyss Worm, level 3. Which isn't rare at all. She glances over her shoulder longingly at the little stall that sells more cards, but... No! She must resist the urge to buy another pack! So why are her feet slowly carrying her forward? Won't some hapless bystander please obliviously walk in front of her to interrupt her fate of abject poverty and a bunch of low level Triple Triad cards?!]

[But...just one more pack. One more to see if she can get a Level 10 card. One. More.]

This is strange.

[Akane's head is tilted, her cheek pressed against her hand as she stares at the monsters, torn. Are they cute? Horrifying? She just can't seem to make up her mind. She glances at the person beside her, wondering if they're just as perplexed as she is.]

How did he manage to get them all to sit still long enough for this? Maybe the owner of the Monster Arena is much tougher than we thought.

[Honestly? Were it not for the obvious risks, she would be mostly impressed by the feat of cute-yet-horrifying. Hello, Akane, by the way.]

Either way, I suppose it is something to admire... though perhaps only at a distance.

Heran Stand

Chrom arrived bright and early to assist the refugee Herans in setting up their stall. A few diehard patriots might have objected, but if so, Chrom reassured them that if they truly were up to no good, he'd be close at hand to deal with any problems that arose. It seemed to pacify people enough that there wasn't much difficulty in arranging things to the Herans' liking, save for the occasional glower or judgmental stare.

When the stall opened, Chrom was one of the first to hold one of these...'phones' as they were called lol phones were CALLED. "How does it work?" he asked. They handed him one of the phones and grabbed a nearby visiting Hero of Light. Then they were made to stand at opposite ends of the street, far apart, where each were instructed on their invention's use.

Tentatively, Chrom held the phone up to his face. "Hello?" The Heran sighed, took the phone, turned it around, and gave it back to Chrom so he was actually speaking into the mouthpiece. He tried again. "Hello? Can you hear me?"

Behold the noble lord of Ylisse! In shiny swimming trunks that bear the illustrious mark also emblazoned on his shoulder! Gaze upon his manly physique and reddened face as he wades into the pool, led on by his sassy little blue-hair-topped Moogle.

"I'm not sure I see the wisdom in visiting this particular attraction," he said uneasily, feeling woefully exposed like this.

"It's for the kids! Lots of kids hang out around here, and a lot of them want to fight with swords the way you do," Kulevi smiled back over her furry shoulder.

"I'm not sure a swimming pool is a suitable place to meet children," Chrom replied, now even more self-conscious. Kulevi just smiled innocently, leading him further into the pool and, oddly enough, not toward children at all. Instead she led him to the side of the pool where many female townsfolk reclined in deck chairs. Several pairs of sunglasses slid down noses as they got a good, long look at Chrom in his swimming attire.

"Oooo, if only someone would rub suntown lotion on my back!"
"Oopsie, I dropped my towel~"
"I wish it were summer all year long~"

Selphie is not having any of that. First of all, those ladies need to cool off a bit as the perky brunette flings a steady barrage of water balloons at them. Some have the common sense to get out of the way but most level very hot glares in Selphie's direction while taking the assault.

"Go find someone else to swoon over," Selphie retorts with a cheeky grin before pointing to Chrom. "That one has a playdate."

With that in mind, Selphie pitches a balloon directly at Chrom.
