[Plays are not so bad when Ramza is in the audience. He only minds when he is forced up on the stage...

...Although it is weird when his fictional counterpart is acting out a part. He winces at Rialynn.]

I believe so. Accuracy is not prioritized in this adaption.

[He is praying that his actor will silence himself and let the Sparks player go back to narrating in his stilted drawl.]

Yeah, uh...wow. I can't say I see the resemblance.

[It's actually fascinating just how much he DOESN'T resemble Ramza. But bless his heart, he's trying so hard to make the play entertaining. Rialynn rests her elbows on her thighs, her hands cupped over her mouth as she watches in morbid fascination. She'd like to hear what really happened that day, since it took place long before she ever set foot in this world.]

[Her gaze travels surreptitiously to Ramza with a side glance as subtle as she can manage, then moves back to the stage.]

...Want me to get his autograph for you after the show?

[Griiiiiiiiiiiiin.]

No, we are not speaking to him. [Ramza is pretty sure that would make this situation even more mortifying. He is glad that Rialynn is finally in higher spirits, but he wishes it was not at his expense.]

In any case, would you rather not find the script writer and...talk to them about...their poetic views? [Anything to distract her from the not-Ramza actor.]

[His vehement refusal surprises a laugh out of Rialynn.]

[Too bad it was during a quiet moment where one of the 'Heroes' is dying in another one's arms. A lot of stares turn their way, from the audience and the actors both, and Rialynn claps a hand over her mouth as her face burns in embarrassment. Great. Bad enough she killed Zelda, now they're going to think she finds it funny when Heroes die. She hunches a little lower in her seat, trying desperately not to be seen. She answers his question in a soft whisper.]

Maybe the writers for the first two. I'd like to know their sources. The story of the Heroes of Light changes so frequently, I've been trying to separate fact from fiction.

[Ramza ducks his head in solidarity with Rialynn as she slouches down. Perhaps they were being a little loud...]

The first, at least, is an old adaption. I wonder if the playwright even still lives. [He whispers. Perhaps the second, the musical dramatist, could be found...if they wished to trust one who would adapt the solemn legend into an opera.]

Hard to say. I've researched all kinds of libraries, and each time the story changes. I suppose it can't hurt to check it out before we go up against Palitutu.

[That's something she's not looking forward to.]

...Do you like plays, Ramza?

[She honestly thought he'd had his fill, but now she's curious. Is he here because he likes plays, or because she likes plays?]
zodiac_brave: (hmmm)

[personal profile] zodiac_brave 2016-07-26 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.]

I do not dislike them. I prefer the more...traditional versions. But it is...informative, seeing how different folks reshape the tales.

[He knows Rialynn loves all forms of storytelling, and he does not wish to speak ill of them. Opera is terrible, though.]

Isn't it?

[Her excitement takes over as her grin widens, and she looks back at the stage.]

You can watch the same play a thousand times, and it'll always be different. Different actors, different directors...even the way you change the inflection of a single word in a sentence can make a world of difference. It's fascinating!

[Don't mind her, she's just nerding out about one of the things she really loves. But. She glances at Ramza again, nodding toward the aisle beyond him.]

If you're tired of it, though, we could go look at the chocobos and register for the race. I heard you're a natural.

[Sometimes, though, those retellings paint the characters in very different lights. Heroes become heretics in the stories some folk tell. But he understands how that could be fascinating for someone who had never been on the wrong end of a story.]

I do not know if I would go that far. But I would like to exercise my chocobo. It would be a good opportunity to let Tyche stretch her legs.

And a good opportunity to see you ride with my own eyes.

[She'd gladly sign up to race too, if she actually knew how to ride one of the birds. She kind of doubts horses would qualify as a valid entry.]

Want to go sign up? We can stretch our own legs while we're at it.

Very well. [He offers Rialynn his arm so they can walk together without risking getting separated in the crowd.]

Are you planning to ride, or to watch?

[[ooc: do you want to thread out racing or handwave it?]]
rialynn: (AMINALS)

[personal profile] rialynn 2016-08-04 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[OOC: I'm good with either! It could wind up pretty funny, but we can also skip ahead to other attractions if there's one that strikes your fancy.]

[She takes his arm, only just a tiny bit pink in the face when she does so. It's a chivalry thing, she tells herself, something she shouldn't read into too much. At the very least, it's coming from him, so she doesn't feel the urge to flee into the crowds with some pitiful excuse about horse feedings.]

Um...hm. Good question.

[She grins up at him.]

I mean, initially I was thinking about just watching, but it's a pretty long race, so I'm not sure how much moral support I can give. Five seconds or so, right?

[She taps her jaw lightly with her other hand.]

Are they hard to ride? I could give it a shot, if it's just for fun.
