Too late.

[She replies softly but in a tone that suggests that she doesn’t care. There really isn’t that much to smile about around here and as always Vincent just sucks the fun out of things. She turns away from the parade and begins to slip through the crowd.]

Let’s go somewhere else.

[He certainly hadn't meant to suck the 'fun' out of it for her. After all, he'd come to view the parade too. Nor had he meant to make Yuffie sad, as she had been far too often for his tastes.

He didn't slip through the crowds as easily as she could, but he still made his way and was close enough to her to speak.]

Can I make it up to you by winning you some goofy plush toy at the shooting stand? You could add a pink ribbon or top hat to it.

[He's trying, alright?]

[Yuffie looks up and back with a smile.]

Hell, yes!

[Her steps become quicker as she makes her way through the crowd. She finally reaches a break in the bodies and waits for Vincent to lead the way. She hasn't had anyone win anything for her.

If it wasn't vincent she might even consider it a date.]

[Definitely not a date, or at least nothing more than a platonic one. He doesn't really have any romantic intentions towards anyone right now, not even potential old flames... He's still getting used to the idea of friendship, and that it is allowed.

But he doesn't like seeing Yuffie unhappy, and he doesn't like being the cause of it even more so.

Doesn't take him long to catch up to her, even if he's walking more slowly through the crowd.]

Let's hope it's not the regular owner there then.

[The normal owner knew Vincent on site, and wouldn't let him 'win' anything even if he let him shoot. He'd certainly figured out easily that the dark man was no beginner.]

Why's that? He'll peg you for a cheater won't he?

[Yuffie smiles up at Vincent, her fingers lacing behind her back as they begin walking at a more leisurely pace.]

I wonder what they'll have as far as prizes. Maybe a super large stuffed chocobo!

Why would I need to cheat, Yuffie?

[On the contrary, the man recognizes that Vincent actually knows what he's doing and how to shoot. Not to mention once you have the trick of them, the carnival games aren't hard to deal with unless the operators are blatantly cheating.]

Cloud won one, so I assume they have more.

You don't need too. I was just saying that you're so good that he thinks you would be. It's a compliment.

[She rolls her eyes at Vincent.]

He won a large chocobo?

[Yuffie wonders what Cloud will do with that.]

[Ok, that got a hint of smile. Mostly for the eye-roll and the banter. It was reassuring to him, that ultimately the dynamic between them hadn't changed as friends and allies.]

He did. There was a noticeable resemblance of feathers and his hairstyle.

[Yuffie snorts, her hand coming to cover her lips as she imagines Cloud, the chocobo.]

They have a lot in common.

[She pauses after a second.]

Where is the shooting game?

Over in the Carnival area brought from Trano Golsaucia.

[A pause, and there is dry-amusement in the low voice.]

And if the normal owner who recognizes me is at the stand, then we'll just have to play something else until I can win you a prize.

That might take all day.

[She teases as they continue forward.]

If it gets to hot will you carry me?

No, but I'll make sure to dump you in the waterpark so you can cool off.

[Okay, he wouldn't 'dump' her in the waterpark. But he wouldn't carry her either.]

[Yuffie sticks out her tongue.]

Yeah, you do that and I'll pull you in with me.

The attempt, should you try, will be interesting.

[Easy and familiar banter. But he's glad she's no longer moping at least.]

It'll be a good story.

[Even thinking about it is making her laugh.]

I hope the shooting place lets you play!!!

[She whines as they continue down the street.]

[The whining was familiar. Both from Crystallis, living with her, and from Gaia when traveling with Avalanche.]

We'll simply deal with it as we must, Yuffie.

[He was hoping the shooting stand would let him play too. Easier to not waste gil that way, than by trying other games that weren't in his forte or as much fun.]
