[ Yeah, her cheeks weren't exactly cool right now, either. They were turning a shade of pink that matched the color of some of the flowers around them. A sure sign that he was having an effect on her, as well. ]

Yeah...things haven't exactly been smooth sailing, have they?

[ She squeezed his hand gently; both of them took care of each other. The words had been awkward, but she had been able to figure out what he was trying to say. Something they both were getting better at--if she said so herself.

Smiling impishly, she shook her head before looking at him. ]

You know, my friends were surprised when they found out that I like flowers.

[ And here, he had picked up on it without even trying. ]

Why?

[Albel looked surprised. It wasn't so much that he'd guessed something about Sheena, exactly -- he just assumed flowers were a feminine thing. Didn't all ladies enjoy flowers? Offering flowers was a staple of courtship.]

Why wouldn't you like flowers?

[ Sheena chuckles sheepishly and scratches the back of her neck. ]

Well... I am a bit of a tomboy. [ A bit? ] So, I guess I really didn't give a hint that I liked flowers or other pretty things.

But you're a woman?

[As if it weren't already super obvious that Albel came from a simplistic, medieval time. Nel and Claire might very well have been two of the strongest women he'd ever known, but surely even they still enjoyed flowers? More than a female thing, it was a cultural thing. That was just a societal rule -- when courting a woman, you offered her flowers. Or, in this case, took her to see a garden collection of exotic ones.]

[ Sheena gives him an impish look...and a matching smile. ]

Glad you noticed.

[ And her cheeks pinked slightly at her own comment. She wasn't about to elaborate that she wasn't exactly mainstream back home, so she didn't always follow the societal rules.

Besides, he's the first person to ever court her. ]

[Albel massaged his forehead.]

I don't understand.

[In the end, it didn't matter. Those other men were clearly fools for being so ignorant. It was their loss. Albel shook his head, certain of that.]

Never mind. As long as you like them, I am satisfied.

[ She covered the hand on his forehead and pulled it away so she could look him in the eye. ]

It's okay. You don't really have to, Albel.

[ She gave him a sweet smile. ]
