Wouldn't that be nice.

[He picks up his second ball. The last one was close, but close don't cut it. Still, he's got an audience of one to look good for. Barkeep winds up, shuts on eye, and aims for the center line of the stack. The balls arcs again...

and falls in front of the wooden counter the cans are resting on.]

[Lydia is duly stifling her laughter, because that wouldn't be encouraging now would it? A look is shared between her and the stand-owner, which makes Lydia bring her mouth up to keep the laughter back even more.]

Wind conditions, surely! One more try!

[If the atmosphere had a corporeal form, it would be facepalming.]

Last chance, got it. [The third and final ball is picked up. If the wind is really causing so much trouble, tossing it fast enough might work. The Barkeep winds up, holding a pose any baseball player would deem terrible and amateur, and tosses it at the cans. The arc is small, and it looks like it will miss...

Only for the ball to bounce on the bottom right can, knocking it over. As the can rolls off the table, the one it was supporting falls, causing the one above that to fall, until a smaller pyramid remains.

The stand attending is most impressed and relieved. This guy was taking up a lot of time.]

"Four points." [She sighs and reaches out to the basket of trinkets. This score warrants a Chocobo charm.

The Barkeep, on the other hand, is ecstatic that he finally won. He holds out his hand and grips the charm with a grin.]

See? If you just keep on tryin' you're sure to win somethin' or other! [After wasting 100 gil on a dumb carnival game, of course.]

[Lydia is familiar with carnival games, and she's applauding duly. Yes, they're rigged--but that means when you do finally beat one, you feel great!]

I knew you could do it, Barkeep. Having fun?

[She is. It's a nice distraction wandering around the festival. She wishes she had more film, so she could get some great shots she'd seen. Trying to conserve what she has though, for her friends and the Heroes.]

Sure am! Nothin' wrong with playin' a few games.

[He pockets the charm and pats it to make sure it's still there.]

You wanna go a few rounds on this thing?

[She'll shake her head, as she's not really up for carnival games at the moment.]

Nah, mostly I'm wondering. Trying to let myself enjoy the crowds, and then lamenting I can't take all the pictures of the great shots I find.

Don't got enough film with ya? [He pulls his robes over his shoulder and turns away from this row of stalls, cocking his head towards another set.] What about a different game?

[It's more she has a very limited supply, and maybe enough. Maybe. For what she wants to use it on first.]

Film isn't really found in this world, so I've had to use regains from Cid to get more both times. I have a different purpose for it in mind first, before I can really indulge in all the shots I want.

[She's happy to look over the other games though, and see if any look fun.]

[There's ring toss, cousin to the can game Mordecai was just playing. There's also whack-a-flan and shooting ranges, and the old man slows down his pace to allow time for Lydia to take a look at each stall.]

What kinda purpose? Lookin' for ways to help Cid out so you don't gotta do all these hard work just for film?

[If it helps save the world, maybe Cid won't give a Hero a dangerous quest.]

[She's looking at the different games, but she's really more interested in just watching all the people and their reactions.]

My own, actually. I don't think I'm ever going to really have an easy time getting film, unless Crystallis develops it on its own.
