Probably not. Maybe somehow this is to draw in more people. Or celebrate the festival. I dunno.

[Johnny notices the camera around Lydia's neck, and lights up with surprise.]

Whoa, where'd you get that?

[Lydia blinked, as she hadn't seen him light up like that before. Still cute, even if her crush has faded.]

I've had my camera awhile, it was one of my first regains. I recently went and got more film for it though.

[And had to fight a nasty dog. She still thinks maybe they could've tried harder to be friends with it. She'll hold it up anyways though, proud and happy to let him examine it.]

I wanna get pictures of all the Heroes of Light.

That's pretty cool. I can't even remember the last time I've seen one like that. Feels like a hundred years ago. Maybe you can help get real photography to this place. Crystallis needs to get caught up in a lot of things when it comes to technology.

[A idea hits him, but he looks disappointed in it after a moment.]

Man, makes me wish I had, like, some books on technology back home. Stuff on, I dunno, steam engines or electricity. Regain 'em, and give them to all the Scholars here and get things movin'. I did donate my solar-powered amp to Cid for research, but without knowin' how it works, I dunno if they were ever able to reverse engineer it or anythin'.

I could try and regain them, but I'd rather use it on my film.

[The way she says the last word indicates how much she loves her hobby. If she has to, she'll sacrifice--but being able to photograph again? She's so thrilled.]

Yeah, I... don't know any of it. I'll leave that up to the eggheads. Leave the fightin' to me.

[Johnny has this things where he thinks he's really dumb. But really, he just never paid attention in school, ever. Money was what got him a high school diploma, and that was just barely.]

Yeah, I guess you'll go through a lotta film fast, huh? And you probably need, like, developer and all that stuff too, I'm sure.

Book smarts and practical smarts are different things, trust me on that.

[Look at her friends. Even her non-neitherworld friends, the two she has anyways.]

I'm...trying not to. So trying to not waste my 'shots'--not that I think any of my friends would be wasted shots.

[Her film was precious to her though. His comment about the developer though made her grin.]

Actually I have a dark room started in the basement of our house. I was able to find chemicals that will work. It's not quite the same as home, and well--it was easier at home.

[There's an easy shrug and grin still.]

But the physical setting up in moving shelves and what not was harder in some ways, not to mention the task set me to get my film.

Some people got one or the other, but I lost both of those lotteries. Guess all I got was guitar-playing smarts and fighting smarts, whatever those are worth.

[A small shrug. Better than nothing.]

Though if ya needed things moved around, you shoulda asked me. Next time.

[His latter comment made her duck her head sheepishly.]

I didn't wanna bother you.

I sort of didn't plan it out well either, I just...got sick of doing nothing, and needed the distraction. Nanami and I cleaned the basement out a few months ago after Henry was gone, but it had been standing empty. Decided to claim it.

That's fair. Next time, though, I gotcha. Hey, can I see what pictures ya took sometime?

Once I've developed them, sure! Nanami was asking how it was done too, so I said I'd show her. I can have you over and show you too if you want? It's boring at some points I mean, to some people.

[There's a sheepish grin there.]

I think it's really kind of amazing. You've seen negatives right? It's really neat how photos go from them, to the blown up prints we all know!

[Clear she loves her hobby. Especially if she knows how to develop her own pictures.]

Not in a long time, but yeah. [He was born in 1992. Film was quickly on its way out when he was growing up.] Sure, I could take a look sometime. I never saw stuff gettin' developed before. I know it involves a mess of chemicals and a dark room, that's about it. I pretty much only ever used digital cameras or my phone for pictures back home.

[Oh gosh you mean she's technically older than him? Wow.]

You can take pictures with your phone now? Deadly vu!

[That is new to Lydia. That sounds amazing!]

HOw is a digital camera different than a regular one? It sounds heavy.

Nah, not at all. It just takes pictures 'n stores them on an SD card, so you can put 'em on your computer or print 'em out. It's way easier with your phone.

[Hmmmm.] ...What year was it where you were from?

[Those are some very large dark eyes, and clearly Lydia is impressed. That sounds so cool!]

1992. I can't imagine how expensive those phones must be. I mean a computer is pretty expensive, how would you fit the phone near the printer? Is it like a fax where it's all 1 unit?

Computers 'n stuff get a lot smaller real fast. But some of 'em are still kinda expensive, I guess.

[His family had the cash to get him the newest iPhones, so he never thought about it much.

The year she mentions makes him grin, though.]

What, really? Huh. That's the year I was born.

[That'll make those wide-dark eyes blink in surprise. Then she'll chuckle at herself.]

So what you're saying is even though I'm 15, I'm older than you?

[There's an impish grin to go with that.]

Seems that way. Huh. And I came here from 2012. Meanin' you'd be 35 in my time. Weird.

[He never considered something like this before. Surprisingly, between Exsilium and Crystallis, Johnny hasn't met a ton of people from worlds or times close to his. Something else dawns on him and he looks weirded out.]

... That means yer, like, only a year or so younger than my mom.

[Okay, Lydia looks weirded out by that too. Especially since that just about killed the last of any crush she had on him.]
