Santa barely looks up. He recognizes K'pandolu's voice, and he's concentrating.

"Nah. They don't open 'em and shuffle 'em or anything. It's just pure luck, looks like." Since he wasn't getting any sense of the right one from the abilities from his home world, it was really just a glorified guessing game.

K'pandolu nodded, staring at the chests anyway. "What do the other chests contain?" What were they worth?

"I dunno. Prob'ly crap. It's not about the prizes, anyway. It's about winning."

It pisses him off that he's only got a 1 in 10 chance of getting the big prize, and that all his weird knowledge of stats and game theory won't be of any use.

"I guess I just gotta pick one." Laaaaaaame.

She looked up at him, and grinned, tail flicking. "You're pretty competitive, aren't you?"

She straightened up and tilted her head, considering. "I've got a good feeling about the ones on the left side."

Santa shrugs at her. "If you ain't playin' to win, then what's the point in playin' at all?"

He looks at the boxes on the left. What the hell? It's a fifty-fifty chance that the winning box is on that side. He settles on one that is closer to the center, but on the left side. Seems as good a choice as any.

K'pandolu hummed for a moment. "Well, for the thrill of it, I suppose!"

"So, thataru's your choice? Let open it up…" The tarutaru fiddled with the chest for a moment, before the lock clicked and the lid sprung open. It's-!

"A pile of gil!" K'pandolu exclaimed, clapping her hands together- and then she dropped them, looking over at Santa. "…It's not the big one, but it's not bad, either, is it?"

Santa shrugs, but he's pleased with his prize. He scoops it up and gives the little gil pouch an experimental toss in the air to gauge its weight. "Not bad. More useful than some giant toy."

He turns back to K'pandolu. "Why don't you give it a try? We can see who gets the better prize." See, there's still a way to win or lose. That's where the real thrill comes from, let's be real.
