Summary: The first phase of endgame begins! The Heroes of Light are on their way to deal with Garland as they’ve left their unfinished businesses in the hands of their friends amongst the NPCs. [Aboard the Enterprise, Sparks was sharpening and cleaning up his gunsword. He really didn't know what else to do to keep his mind from wandering over what was ahead. He didn't want to think too much about it. His moogle, Red, clung to his shoulder, uncharacteristically quiet and worried.

To anyone who comes by, he tries to make idle conversation. But he's never been good with small talk, and his head definitely isn't with it now.]

So, how 'bout that, uh... um... Aw, heck. Never mind.

S-Sparks? Is everything okay?

[Yeah, Tsubomi's taken notice of how you're acting.]

[Sparks attempts to straighten himself up a bit and put on a confident air. It's semi-successful.]

Ah, yeah, y'know. It's just... [Sparks had always been confident in his abilities, but a lot of the time, his successes in life were luck being on his side. In Crystallis, he'd never been as lucky, and has had to work twice as hard for half the results he used to have back home.

It's been a long two and a half years. He's tired, and he's actually worried that this all won't work out for the best.

But of course, this is Sparks Nevada. What is sharing feelings? Time to deflect.]

How're you feelin'? You, uh, ready to kick some butt?

[Cloud chuckles at the attempt at conversation. He didn't have much to offer himself but the botched effort helps ease his nerves a bit.

His own fingers fiddle with the bracer he's now wearing on his left arm, and slung over his back is that jigsaw sword he also used against the Knights. His eyes drift to the sword that Sparks is using when a thought occurs to him.]

You're going with Magitek Knight too huh? Think we should try to coordinate when we use our Armors?

Oh, uh, sure. It's pretty much been my ol' reliable Job since we got it way back when. [It was fun to ride around in a big robot, ok.]

Mine's set for fire magic, if'n that makes a difference.

[Cloud nods in understanding.]

Yeah. It was the first melee one I was using here. Mostly out of spite for getting blown up by Deweg. Though I guess he had a reason to be mad at me.

[He shifts uncomfortably before continuing.]

We'll see. I have the one I found in Palitutu's lab but I haven't gotten any of the modules for it I think. Guess it's a little late to think about that but at least the missiles and the laser do their job.

[Sparks Nevada wants to talk about emotions but is afraid of making that first step. This is something the Barkeep knows very well.]

[So there. He goes quiet again for a moment as he continues to work on the blade.]

Y'all suited up for whatever it is we're gettin' ourselves into?

Don't sound like nothin'.

[But he does ask a question, which counts as a conversation. It's progress.]

Yeah, took up that time and illusion stuff. It's a bit of a personal favorite combination of mine, not even countin' the explosion bonus. [It's the looking into the future thing. That's always handy.

He pulls out the Crystal of Illusion from inside his robes.] With all this talk of fightin' I thought bringin' more skills on the stealthy side. Get all spy-like and lower enemy defenses, all that.

[To demonstrate his point, he begins transforming into various NPCs they're met on Crystallis. One of the shopkeepers, Cid, O'Aka, and finally ends with Sparks.]

[Saori looked at Sparks while Brigid flew over to Red. Her moogle offered the other with a Kupo Nut cookie.

She pulled her sword out of its scabbard just a bit, revealing the blue to purple hue of the blade. Somehow seeing the unusual color of it calmed her a bit. There's no snark or prodding fun at the Marshall of Mars this time around coming from her.]

I don't blame you if you're getting nervous, Sparks. Think it's safe to say we all are. Hell, even after fighting things for some fifty odd years or so, a fight of this scale is new to me.
