Summary: The first phase of endgame begins! The Heroes of Light are on their way to deal with Garland as they’ve left their unfinished businesses in the hands of their friends amongst the NPCs. [Cloud nods in agreement. Everything she said was true, though it's such a heavy weight to carry that the temptation to run from it all is very strong.]

Maybe, but maybe it's always been. But I don't think many of us were ever the type to back out of this sort of thing.

[He crosses his arms and sighs with a huff.]

At least fighting Garland is an easy thing to imagine. We just have to do our best, and yeah, I hope we can change his mind but I don't want another argument. What we've needed more than anything else is a leader. But there's so many of us I don't know if we'd ever even agree on that.

I guess all we can do is take things one at a time. Work on the little things first and hope it all works out in the end.

[Selphie could count off at least five people easily that she would follow under any given circumstance, Cloud included. She looks up at him with a hopeful look.]

Yeah, I think that's one thing that we'll never agree on... I think the ones who truly wanted to lead, and those that had earned the respect of everyone are either in the Crytalized Heroes wing or were murdered. We'll have to reach a consensus and get to it quickly.

We've all come too far to give up now, anyway and there's no time left.

[She nods to the blonde.]

It probably doesn't count for much, Cloud, but I've got your back 'til the end.

Yeah, if Ashe were here...Zelda.... [He bows his head. They were able to unite everyone's hearts.] Kaji suggested I might be a good leader for everyone but I don't know. Maybe in a fight or something, but I'm not the best on tactics. And I'm no good with politics.

[But there's more than just that to being a Hero. A Leader. He knows this. But it's something he'd not chase down on his own. All he knows for sure how to be is himself.

A smile comes back to his face as he looks to Selphie again. His eyes shine a bit with that happiness as well.]

That counts for a lot Selphie. More than you know. I'm glad to have you here.

[Leaders need support. If Cloud ever decided to lead, then Selphie would support him. She moves to poke him in the arm as he bows his head in Zelda's memory.]

I think you could do it. You just need to believe in yourself. Did you meet my friend Squall while he was here? He didn't want to be the leader either and while we kinda dumped it on him in the beginning, it really worked out in the end.

[She grinned confidently at Cloud, relieved to see some happiness back on those eyes of his.]

Anytime! What're friends for other than shooting each other with water guns in the middle of the summer. Which, by the way, I want a rematch on.

Maybe. I could probably deal with a couple people. All of the Heroes though...that's too many. And all too different.
