As hurt and trembling as she was, Tear still had enough stubbornness and will to her that she was able to understand the events that unfolded. A strange numbness befell her when she recognised the attack unleashed, remembering once Imitating the exact skill against other Heroes months ago. Narrowing her eyes and parting her lips to speak, her words were cut off when suddenly Natalia was beside her.

Shaking her head—and wincing as she did—Tear's attention turned to a far more important matter. "Akane..." Even though the impact would have undoubtedly left internal wounds she would probably need to go to the hospital for, her priority now was to keep the girl in her arms alive until they got her to safety, casting Curaga.

Lust stood over Garland's body, regarding him dispassionately through lowered lashes. The satisfaction she felt upon seeing him die was fleeting. Even if he'd fallen at her own hand, she found that it did nothing to erase that hollow and painful ache in her chest.

Her eyes drifted to the edge of the platform as if she were patiently waiting for something to pull itself over the edge. Nothing did.

She folded her arms and closed her eyes in silence, offering neither judgment nor approval. For now she listened. It was clear to her that something interesting was about to happen, but unless it resulted in reclaiming those that had fallen, she really didn't care how the matter played itself out.

Saori was going to hold Garland down in his weakened state but after Parasraya did that, something snapped. She grabbed Garland's sword and about to Throw it at her.

"Mercy? No, not after all of this."

"You got less than five minutes to explain what the hell you decided that you were the spokesperson for every individual here. Not to mention that some ability like that can't easily be tossed around."

Yuri narrowed his eyes as he was still standing in the front lines with the others that took the front. He held his sword tightly around his arm preparing to slice her up with Brutal Fang if she tried to do anything funny. He was very much pissed off at that someone decided it was okay to kill off a guy that couldn't even fight anymore.

They had questions for him, and other thoughts. This was not how things were supposed to end. He had a bad feeling about this as he stepped forward, planting his feet into the ground int front of him.

"Well? Start talking or I start cutting."

Perhaps the moment for mercy had not yet passed. While the others were confronting the traitor in their midst, Ramza sheathed his sword and knelt beside the fallen Emperor. Ramza had felt that attack before, from Johnny's Shadow, and he had survived it.

It cost barely anything to unstopper a potion bottle and press it to Garland's lips. Even if it did nothing, he could go on knowing he had not let the opportunity to try pass him by.

He had been keen on simply observing the aftermath, once Chaos' corpse dissipated to reveal the would-be ruler on his last legs. After all, many of the others had such higher stakes in this

"For all your talk of mercy, you certainly are slow to show it to those who hold the conviction you so sorely lack." So slow, in fact, that even a relative newcomer like himself could see plainly where this was headed. "Ahh, already at each other's throats? Well, don't let me keep you from tearing yourselves apart."

Yet for his words, he moved to grab hold of Saori to prevent her from throwing a sword into the crowd and thus potentially miss her target. At least before he addresses the other woman.

"Surely you saw this coming, what with that little stunt of yours?"

It was over? It was over! Lydia--still a bat--homed in on Ira. Sephiroth would be busy, and Ales was harder to see in the group although her thoughts went to both of them. Moving and shifting back to herself, she was going to relax... Or try to anyways, when it all happened so fast.

Definitely worse than a roller coaster, but adrenaline still ran high through her veins.

Ira drawing his blade, along with the reactions of others, was enough for her to be wary still. Dark-eyes turning, and while Lydia was under no illusion that all the 'Heroes' were good guys, this seemed too different, from just a disagreement in views, based on the reactions. Stepping up slightly, hands raised in clear non-threat, Lydia spoke. "Please, explain why you did that Miss...?" Trying hard to remember her name, even as she cast Charm.

Sheena was too shocked by what she had witnessed to move at first. What had happened? Then Parasraya spoke, and Sheena whirled, the sight of Dark Magic triggering a memory of one possessed.

The others' reactions, however, in naming the Calamity, triggered another. Eyes narrowing, she glared at the woman.

"Was it your voice we heard in the Rift when the ability to come back from death was taken away?"

Sonic made his way to Ardyn, his Magitek Armor clenching its fists as Sonic made his decision. "It's not the idea that someone did what others didn't it's the fact that someone did that with powers that are not ours!" He said.

Marching over to Jade, he let out a small snort. "Didn't she say that she wanted to tell us something in November? Something that she said would make us hate her? Was that it?"

Rukia did not yet sheath her sword. It served an additional purpose besides cutting down enemies; it could also be used to bury souls, and right now, she was searching for Garland's. His was a unique case in that he was formed in an unconventional way. Were his soul to become lost or broken, it could result in a very dangerous Hollow should this world parallel the rules of her own. But she didn't see it emerge, not yet. There was far too much spiritual turbulence in this place for her to locate him with her reiatsu.

Her brow darkened. She should not have to be searching for his soul at all. "Reckless fool...!" she cursed, shooting a disapproving look at Parasraya. And yet, was it necessary after all? They didn't know how Garland would have responded. After his defeat, he might have reset everything with his dying breath, rendering all of their struggles and sacrifices meaningless.

But she did catch a faint pulse of Jade's reiatsu that drew her attention. Glancing back at him, he appeared calm and still, looking at their fellow Hero in studious silence. What had he done? Had it been noticed?

She walked across the platform to stand at his side, as she might have done naturally. But if his actions had been noticed and provoked an attack like the one that was just unleashed on Garland, she wanted to ensure that he was well protected. Rukia glanced up at him, her expression making it clear that she did not like this situation any more than the rest of them. Things did not feel as concluded as they should have.

It’s over. Chaos is dead. Garland is dead. It’s not as satisfying as he thought it would be, avenging Pyrrha.

Pyrrha. He drops to a knee, his sword holding him up while the physical and mental exhaustion of the fight hit him like a brick now that his adrenaline’s gone down. His wounds are screaming in agony but he can barely feel them, the loss of his love hurting more than anything else. It hadn’t fully hit him that she was gone until after the fight, but now that they had won, he-

Wait. Had they actually won? He’s pretty sure that the goal of today’s mission was to defeat Garland, but everyone still seems pretty on edge, even though so many of them had been all for killing the guy before. Looks like he’s still not allowed to mourn yet, though, so he weakly rises to his feet, trying to concentrate on what’s being said so that he can understand what’s going on and be ready for another fight should one break out.

As everything seemed to be blowing up, Tsubomi began thinking over something that felt odd. The Desperation skill. It kicked in when Akane and Tear died and she was sure it would when Santa did.

But, those who were banished by Chaos didn't.

Were they still alive?

"I think the others are still alive somewhere. I would have gotten stronger when Chaos made the disappear, but... we can't figure that out until we find out what's going on with her." Tsubomi said, furrowing her brow.

"Ramza..."

Minato bit his lip. Following the other quietly and kneeling down, as the others were caught in the tension of a betrayer, he tried to bring as little attention to himself as he tried to cast Life over Garland; he knew this probably didn't work on non-Heroes, but if there was any chance at all to save him... This move would be about as controversial as all other decisions regarding the man's fate, which a certain someone had just tried to cut short without any discussion.

Chrom was still reeling with the bitter sorrow of his partner's cry in his head. He hadn't even realized the other Seraphim had been one of the Heroes that had been swept off the edge until he'd heard Lailah scream. She had always been so cheerful, and so composed, and even after she'd cried out he was privy to her struggles to rein herself in and tamp down her emotions. The pain she felt was as keen as if he felt it himself.

~Did you hear what Tsubomi said?~ he thought to her. ~They still live. I didn't receive any significant boosts in power either. We'll find them, Lailah, I swear it.~

He'd only taken two steps toward Garland before the man's life was suddenly extinguished. He whirled around as well as the others, eyes wide as he scanned their numbers for the source. He looked at the dark energies swirling around Parasraya's outstretched hand as his expression hardened. He found himself agreeing whole-heartedly with Jack. One of their own shouldn't have done that...and shouldn't have even been able to do that. Was it Narasimha? Was the man not truly safely locked in his prison cell after all, and stood before them now in the guise of an ally?

Chrom stood in front of Minato, using his broad frame to keep the young man shielded behind him as he brought his flickering sword of flames in front of him. "We're going to need a damn better explanation right now for what you just did!"

Kenshin had no reassuring smiles to give. Exhausted and frayed from the fight as he was, and as grim as the killing of Garland by Parasraya had left him, he'd not stopped staring at the precipice since the battle's end. The ones called Tear and Akane breathed life again, which set him greatly at ease...but his thoughts were for Rialynn and the others.

Miss Rialynn. Adrenaline and his own sense of urgency for the Heroes' hour of need had bayed his dread for a time, but now it locked upon him, and a profound sense of sorrow weighed upon his heart. He thought of the kind young woman he'd met in Balicea, and felt his expression turn ashen. Kenshin's fingers tightened on the handle of his sword. Please be safe. We will find you. Just...please, be safe.

He tried to convince himself of those thoughts. He shook his head, looking wearily around him as Parasraya made a display of strange, dark power before them. Nearby, he could see Jaune Arc struggling to his feet. The younger man who he had met in Naliba had fought valiantly, standing his ground against an assault more brutal than any ought to be expected to ever take - but the anguish on his face did not speak of Chaos' might or magic. Those he had withstood bravely. It was only when the other, red-haired young woman, Pyrrha, had been taken along with Rialynn and the rest that such pain wrote itself on the young warrior's features.

The others approached Parasraya with caution, and Kenshin was sure they would meet the slightest provocation from the mysterious woman (for she was a mystery to him, still so newly arrived) with full defense. So for the meantime, he went to Jaune's side and laid a hand on his shoulder. "Easy now, friend," he said quietly. "You fought well, Jaune, but it was a hard battle. Don't push yourself. We should have someone take a look at those wounds soon."

There wasn't enough time to process everything that just happened. Selphie had witnessed two of her friends and some acquaintances get tossed into the ether and hoped that they were still alive somewhere outside of this hell hole they'd been placed in. Next thing, Garland was down and then the mysterious character that she'd never interacted with was out for blood and speaking for all of them? Selphie's gaze snapped up to look at Yuri's before she nodded sharply.

What right did Parasraya have to speak for all of them when they were perfectly capable of figuring out what to do? Granted, it probably would have ended with a lot of bickering but they would have figured it out in the end. Watching this stranger murder someone in front of in cold blood had the floor falling out from underneath the perky brunette as she pointed her sword toward the traitor and levelled a dark glare at the woman.

"You shouldn't have done that," Selphie growled. "You have no right to play the leader with so many lives at stake!"

As the others raged Cloud was quiet for a moment. There was no need to throw his anger into the din, and her "attempt" to relive them of arguing over one choice led to another. Instead he followed Ramza over to Garland, looking at the man who now lay dead before them.

He had resigned himself to this. Garland had. Cloud had. They were ready to fight to the death. Both were willing to lay the final bows as needed. Cloud was worried for the others who were cast away but right now they had a potential new foe standing in their midst. He didn't want to leave the others in trouble if they were, but they couldn't risk turning their back on her either.

After a moment longer he turned about, trying to call out over all the other voices.

"Yuri is being generous giving you five minutes. I imagine the rest of us will give you a bit less. I'm willing to bet you have one chance, one, to explain to us plainly what's happening here. We've had more than our share of people stabbing us in the back and telling us lies and laughing at us for one reason or another in this world. Telling us we're fools who don't know what we're doing and how we're ruining everything with every action we take."

Like Reno he remembered that attack and where the energy to use it came from. He still ached from that memory.

"I'm willing to bet you can probably take us all in a fight. Odd are it'll get pretty messy very quick. No matter what there's a good chance a lot of us will get killed. It'll also probably ruin any plans anyone has about saving this world or destroying the Calamity..." He narrowed his eyes at Parasraya, "Or taking control of it?"

He looked around, and then gestured to her in invitation, a faint smirk coming across his lips. If they were being treated as fools then perhaps they should be fools. Fools with a habit of breaking things. "So, tell us who you are and what you're planning here. And please choose your words wisely. As many people in this world have taken the time to tell us on many occasions....we are very stupid."

Ace couldn't bring himself to pity the Guardian's fate, nor did he care much for Parasraya’s apology. The woman's intentions had been laid bare the moment she cast her spell, therefore dictating her own terms in a discussion they hadn't been invited to.

His mind belonged elsewhere, and so did his heart. Lowering his voice to a soft whisper, he directed his words at Akane and Tear as he joined Natalia on the ground beside the wounded pair.

"I will try to teleport you both out of here the first chance I get. Until then," he caught Tear's gaze to better underline the importance of the advice, "conserve your energy." Regardless of whether or not he could follow his plan through, the boy hurriedly searched for a way to alleviate their pain. There had to be something he could do! After all, healing spells only seemed to work to an extent….

Suddenly, it dawned on him. Levitate. Perhaps through the use of this simple spell he would be able to reduce the pressure, at least for the time being.

"Akane...!" Now that things had settled down somewhat, Hisui ran over to Tear and Akane and knelt down as he held Akane's hand in his own, strain overcoming his muscles and voice. "I'm so sorry... I couldn't do anything for you...!" He bit his lower lip. She was so kind to him when he first came to Crystallis, and she even stood by him during his Shadow encounter and invited him into her home. It was like having a little sister all over again... or perhaps something else, that he couldn't quite explain. But whatever it was, maybe it was too late. She was alive, but she was barely holding on. Thanking Tear, Hisui just sat there, not knowing what to do or say as tears filled his eyes.

The others could figure things out with what happened to Chaos and the bitch who killed Garland.

He was going to pray that Akane would make it.

It never ceased to amaze Flynn how strong Yuri was. Everyone had basically said everything that there was to be said, so Flynn took a step back and let the capable hands of the natural leaders from their group take charge - from their journeys together and all the battles, he knew they were more than capable of anything that would come their way. Yuri had been here more than he had and had been more involved than Flynn could ever dream to be. This belonged to the people who lived here, who build so many memories here.

Walking to Lust's side in part to make sure she was all right, he shot a glance at the new woman he wasn't entirely familiar with. What would happen next? Everything wasn't so simple once Chaos was defeated, was it? Neither was it when Alexei was felled, or when the aque blastia was returned to the lower quarters. All Flynn could do now was watch, and support his friends' decision.

Taking to heart Chrom's words, Lailah felt exhausted after the adrenaline rush faded and tiredness began to settle in. The flame that burned twice as bright also burned half as long, was that not correct? And Sir Chrom was correct - she wanted to believe that Mikleo and the others were safe, somewhere out there, and would come back.

Ideally, if it came down to it, this new foe would not be resistant to fire.

She wanted to go home. She wanted her friends to be together again. She wanted to return to the place where she had so many memories of her journeys throughout the ages. Yes, she made new friends here and made plenty of memories as well, but...

Undoing the Armatus, Lailah stepped ahead of Chrom, her hands clasped in front of her as she approached the woman.

Staring daggers into the newly arrived entity's beings, Lailah's eyes narrowed. There was really nothing left to be said before they heard her response, and she doubted anything they said or asked would change the outcome. But as the Lady of the Lake, the Prime Lord of a distinguished line of Shepherds, Lailah was in no mood to joke around.

K'pandolu's ears flicked one way and another, trying to take in what she could. The others might still be alive? She wanted that to be true, but then- what exactly had happened to them?

More immediately, though- regardless of Parasraya's supposed intentions, much of that attention was now on her. Was that what she'd wanted, then? Why? Others had asked that, though, and she moved to check on the other Heroes around her, though part of her attention remained on Parasraya.

"I can close those up a little," she said to Jaune, one hand raised in preparation to cast.

Any attempts at healing Garland would prove futile. Life spells didn't work on natives and he seemed to be dead for good.

"Garland isn't unlike a primitive computer. No matter how much he evolves, he is prisoner of his original design. All he can do is repeat pre-set patterns and reject any alternatives. You speak of mercy? I showed more than you did, for I freed him from his fate."

Parasraya shifted her gaze to the Heroes of Light who were now threatening her, as well as to those who were questioning her actions.

"I have no desire to hide anything from you. After all, you have protected me for the past year and a half while I guided your every steps. With our enemies no longer a threat, I no longer have need for this ruse."

For a second the woman seemed to phase out, before re-appearing, but in a different form--

For some Heroes of Light, the change in appearance would most likely mean nothing. For those who had been there during the first year and had the misfortune of encountering her, they could recognize Kalki.

"The cycle has been broken. With Palitutu and Garland defeated, no one can prevent the Calamity from breaking free."

"Worlds, dimensions, realms-- All shall become one within the Calamity. And at the center of it all, shall be us. By merging with the Calamity, we shall evolve beyond our mortal existences. And thus we will have the duty of shaping the new world, one where all shall be free of life and death. A world where those who perished will be amongst us once more. A world free of cycles."
