Where by luck or chance, or more likely in the rush to evacuate, Sephiroth had completely missed Zack where he'd been wandering the streets of the former Heran capital, beforehand. He'd never been really one to be in-touch with the chocobo of this world or his own, really.

However to see such a large bird wandering around inside the bowls of the Enterprise with all the crew rushing around was certainly odd enough to cause the once 1st-Class to abruptly come to a halt. He stood there, just a few feet from Zack and cast a look around for his owner -it was Cloud's bird, right?

Cloud didn't seem to be anywhere though, so it was with a mite of hesitation that Sephiroth extended a gloved hand out before him while approaching the golden chocobo.

"Easy..."

***

"Bonnie...?" Spencer found her, if only by chance, once the hi-elixir had been delivered to his Hero. Duty first and all of that.

He'd been looking for a similar alcove to bunch himself into, so that should the worst happen he'd be both out of the way and somewhere hopefully safer than out in the open where he might be thrown around.

Then the nerd moogle stopped, stumbled on his words. He wanted to let her know that he heard about Mary, but that he's sure it can't be the end for her; but he doesn't really know that. He wanted to ask her how she was holding up; but that kind of answered itself as well...

Instead, he floated down and landed just a foot or so away from Bonnie and tilted his hard to one side to try and gain eye contact. His over-sized pom falling to that one side as well.

"Have you space for another, in there?"

Sephiroth might have missed Zack but the bird had seen him while helping one of the moogles get to safety, but of course the bird's priority remained elsewhere on the ship at the time thanks to portals. Here and now the chocobo seemed to have calmed some, eager to see its companion but not panicked about his condition.

So as Sephiroth approached him, Zack quirked his head to the side, giving a curious chirp before leaning in the rest of the way to nuzzle up against the outstretched hand. He was glad to see Sephiroth was safe too. He knew Cloud would have been worried if he wasn't.

Bonnie was busy curled up against herself, so eye contact wasn't an easy thing to find. It wasn't until he spoke up that she started to peer out from under her own fluff. Her eyes were red and her fur matted from crying, and there was a little dribble from her nose too. If there was any question if she'd heard about Mary it was clear now she had.

"Mnhuh, uh, sure..." Any other time she'd be happy to share a hiding spot with Spencer, but right now she couldn't really think beyond the breaking of her little heart. But on the other hand, if it was any other moogle she might have told them to go away. She shuffled to the side a bit, opening up some space, and then went back to crying into her arm.

It seemed longer than it was, the moments that Sephiroth inched closer to Zack with his hand outstretched. He didn't really know what to expect, but he did know that inadvertently causing a chocobo to bolt inside such close quarters with near-chaos going on wouldn't help, either.

When Zack first chirped, Sephiroth froze all movement, carefully casting his eyes over the golden plumage before him as if he might be able to read body language. If he'd been any better versed with the large birds then the sound would have been positive but true to form, Sephiroth wasn't willing to leave anything to chance. It wasn't quite a sigh of relief, but a few rolls of tension certainly did start to fall away as Zack finally leaned the rest of the way in and nuzzled. Cautiously leathered fingers drew towards the back of the birds head; remembering that at least his own chocobo used to like to be scritched there.

Sephiroth stepped in closer, yet also took a quick glance around before bringing his gleaming green eyes to look back into Zack's. He had the chocobo's attention, the question now being; what now? He knew the responsible thing to do was to make sure Zack was not going to be in the way, but somehow it didn't seem right to just stow him away in the stables on board.

"...good job in getting out of there. Can't really have you wandering the ship though, hm? It's dangerous..."

He didn't mean to stare, really he didn't, but the obvious distress that Bonnie was in would have demanded any mog's attention even if it hadn't been Spencer. Yet he was a bit transfixed, so much so that the next two shuffly steps he took ended up with a stumble. He narrowly missed shoving Bonnie, but did bump his head in the process-

"Oooof- sorry, kupo-" He muttered as one large pom was flicked back to the other side of his head and Spencer near enough crawled into the space that Bonnie made for him. He couldn't do much, there really wasn't all that much room but if Bonnie needed another arm, he'd readily lend her his own.

Zack quirked his head at Sephiroth. He knew him as a friend of Cloud's and he was intelligent enough to understand what he was saying in his own birdy way but....

There was something that had his pinions on edge. Couldn't the white plumage man feel it too? Something was wrong. Even if they were on the ship they might still be in trouble. Zack chirped again, fluffing up his feathers and gave an antsy flap of protest, trying to get the message across.

But he wouldn't resist if Sephiroth tried to take him somewhere. The bird trusted the man even if the air was full of bad vibrations. Maybe he knew a safer place to be.

Bonnie glanced up at the soft thump. Her eyes were still read but a soft smile came to her face at his distress. It wasn't his pain but the effort that was at least warming her little heart. As he crawled in next to her she leaned against him, one pawn nervously kneading her own thigh.

"She'll be fine, kupo. I know she will." She sniffled loudly. She had no way to be sure, and all evidence at the moment pointed in bad directions, but these were the Heroes. Surely there was something that could happen to save them. All hope wasn't lost, no matter how hard it was to hold onto. But telling herself that didn't make her feel much better.

Given all of the events that had now led to them fleeing from an ever expanding, violent sea of crystal, it might be either the remnants of adrenaline or even general battle fatigue that might be jarring Sephiroth's focus. Either that, or circumstances were already very wrong and perhaps the silver haired man were over focusing on keeping it together and carrying on.

Sephiroth did retract his hand when Zack fluffed up and flapped, quickly his eyes darted over all the movements -although he wasn't particularly in tune with animals- in an attempt to read what the chocobo might be trying to get across. Either the bird were being ansty toward the prospect of being shut up in the stables, or there was something else.

"...how about Cloud?" Though really Sephiroth hadn't seen his guildmate at all since getting back on board the Enterprise. A weight pulled in his gut some over the prospect that the young man might not have made it at all but ever stalwart he straightened himself up again. Cleared his throat like a discarded thought and then started again.

"Should we go and try to find him?"

---------------------

Though moogles had very stubby paws -and Spencer was smaller generally than most boys- in such small quarters it could be argued that it was ideal really. He managed to settle finally beside Bonnie in such a way that his over-sized pom wouldn't knock too much against her head, either. His whiskers quivered a little, it was a little dusty in their hidey-hole, but he managed not to sneeze. Instead, before long they might seem just a larger ball of fluff, than two separate mogs.

"This isn't the end, you know. Heroes of Light...they just don't give up that easy. Though we might be away from their side for a little while, it'll all turn out ok. I'm sure, kupo."

Spencer wasn't the best moogle at making anyone feel better, but if anything he'd been doing this job for a long time now and prior experience was very much on his side. It's likely he'll never forget that first time it appeared that his Hero had died in a sickbed one October.

Zack chirped again, bobbing his head in a nod. Looking for Cloud was a much better idea than just being put away in the stable. Also Sephiroth didn't sound worried about Cloud so he must have seen him on the ship. Emboldened, Zack was a bit more insistent now at the prospect of finding his companion and started walking. If Sephiroth wasn't going to take him to Cloud then he was going to have to do it the other way around!!

"I know, kupo." She sniffled softly. But that stubborn confidence fell away chip by chip each time she tried to reassure herself. The upcoming crash of the airship and the vanishing of the Heroes would break her for a time as the world fell into ruin. She would be herself again, but she was just now at the edge of a steep drop.

"I just wish there was more we could do, kupo." The legends, the moogles were able to make all sorts of magic happen to help the Heroes, right? She clenched her eyes shut and tried to concentrate. She wasn't sure on what so she focused on her eyes, her nose, her pom...but nothing. That was the worst part inside. What if she really couldn't do anything?

She was letting Mary down.
