The Fete at the Observatory

Characters: All (hopefully) uncaptured Heroes of Light
Where/When: At the Heroes' Observatory, the evening of February 10th
Summary: Ashelia has called a meeting - under the guise of a party - to discuss the next steps forward for the Heroes following the revelations revealed in the shared dream.
Warnings: N/A
Note: Each part of Ashelia's speech is centred around a different topic. Feel free to indicate what in particular your character is responding to in the headline for your top level! Alternately, if your character is bringing up something on their own, or not in direct reply to something Ashelia has mentioned, feel free to out the subject in the Subject line! There's a lot going on and a lot of ground to cover, so let's keep it organized so things are easy to find later!

"I would like your attention, please." With her experience as an accomplished politician, Ashelia's voice cut through the din of the gathered Heroes. The high ceiling of the meeting room lent itself well to the sorts of echoes that could easily cause headaches, unfortunately. The Queen planned to bring in some fabrics to soften the effects, but there had been little time for decorating, and it seemed there wouldn't be anytime soon.

The Lady Ashelia stood at the head of the incredibly large wooden table that dominated a good chunk of the room. Wooden chairs lined the edges of the tables, straight-backed and unfortunately not cushioned. It was clear that the Queen of Dalmasca didn't want anyone getting too comfortable in this particular room. There were papers in front of her, books and file folders and ledgers, all organized into neat piles. She picked up one of the papers, clearing her throat quietly before continuing. "If as many of you as possible could take a seat, I can call this meeting to order - and yes, I would like to apologize.

"As you may have guessed, this is not a fete. It is important for everyone to know..." Ashelia paused, waiting for the last straggling voices to quiet down before continuing, "that Mognet has been compromised. There is no longer such a thing as private correspondence, if ever there was. Keep this in mind in the coming months. The war has begun."

Ashelia paused for questions and comments before continuing.

"As many of us have realized, and Markus observed earlier over Mognet, the usual appearance of new Heroes of Light at the Crystal of Fire around the fifth of each month did not occur. This disturbance of the established cycle may seem abrupt, but upon further examination, 'tis not so." The Queen took a sip of water. "The cycle has been disturbed previously, though not in such a drastic manner. Last month, crystal statues appeared and disappeared within the hour. Heroes awakened from the crystal stasis were unceremoniously dropped from the sky. So you see, this disturbance has simply progressed. I welcome your thoughts on this."

Ashelia paused for questions and comments before continuing.

"Next on my agenda is the true motivation behind my calling this gathering. The night of February 5th, I had a dream." She stopped, shaking her head. "No, a vision. It did not take me long to realize I was not the only one to experience this. I've written the contents here." Ashelia held up a file folder. "However, if I am correct, many of you need only read it to refresh your memory." She stopped for a moment, putting the folder back on the table. "The ramifications of this new information are clear. The Empire holds four of our number captive, as well as countless other displaced Heroes in crystal stasis. It is my belief we must act on this information. We must save them."

Ashelia paused for questions and comments before continuing.

"The last subject I would like to cover is this." She held up a small, worn notebook. "This is the diary of the Lady Kalki, one of the Empire's Triumvirate. This woman, more than any other, has made clear her intentions are in opposition to us as a group. I encourage everyone to read through this document." Ashelia put the notebook down on the table and held up another file folder. "I have written a transcription myself, as the original is quite delicate." She put the file folder down. "This document provides invaluable insight into whom we can only assume is our enemy. It , unfortunately, poses more questions than it answers, but it does make clear that it is she who holds the answers that we need."

Ashelia took another sip of water, looking around at the gathered Heroes. "I once again open the floor to questions and comments. I believe it will take all of us to rescue our comrades; however, I also believe that if we do work together as one, we shall not fail."

"I think your right. I only hope we find her when we are ready and that she is safe." Zelda looked around the room with a soft smile. She was more concerned with the heroes than she was with those living here but then there was so much to think about.

She smiled confidently at James. "I trust you will keep your ears open? I know you're very skilled when it comes to finding information."

"I hope to be of more use going forward. My old skills are finally coming back to me. If I can be of any help with rescuing our own captive members I want to do all I can." She looked uncomfortable for a moment before she continued.

"I think I know what they're going through. I was in a similar situation back home before I came here."

"Oh?" It felt like a sensitive topic but Zelda didn't want to leave the comment without addressing it. "James. I know its hard to trust those here but if you ever need to talk to someone."

Zelda glanced around making sure there conversation was private. "I'd be happy to listen. Things are harder if we keep them bottled up inside."

It wasn't often that Kidd allowed herself to look uncomfortable. Sad, angry or troubled, perhaps. Annoyed with absolute certainty. But she always hid her worry about herself. It would be simple enough to walk away and bury it again, but Zelda was sincere, and clearly not the kind to gossip.

Kidd settled heavily into a chair. She took a long moment to look at all the others mingling around, giving herself time while she tried to find the words.

"I think...I don't know how this place works. Whether we were all taken from our worlds or if...I was dying back home. Not wasting away from illness. I was dying in that moment."

Zelda moved to sit next to him. She made sure to look confident and strong even as she spoke her own uncertainties. "There are a lot of ideas. Though, none of them have really been proven. Some say that time in their worlds had stopped and they dreamed it. Waking up older from the crystal stasis. We've also seen our worlds which means that the effect of both Link and me being gone from our home hasn't destroyed it."

Her gaze looked back at James, clear and strong. "I don't know what this all means. I know its easy to worry but all we can do now is look forward and search for answers."

Kidd appreciate her words, but she had a feeling Zelda misunderstood her concern. If something happened and they were all sent home, what would become of her. Or was this the afterlife perhaps?

"Right now it seems this Empire holds more answers than we do. That's why I wish to help in any infiltration." She took a deep breath and steeled herself as she thought of her final months, "I was in prison before I came here. A dungeon. I was dying of fever. A friend was trying to save me but I think he was too late." She looked Zelda in the eyes, "They have Edward. I can't leave him in their hands."

Zelda was sure that she didn’t understand and she did nothing to hide her confusion. She’d rather be honest with James. “Do you not want to go back home?” Her voice was quiet while remaining gentle and firm. She could understand needing to go home but not wanting too, knowing the fate waiting for you could be worse than anything that happened in this world.

She didn’t want to assume or pry but she didn’t feel as if she could let it go. If James dismissed her question then she would. She would drop it and thank James for his assistance but if he didn’t.. she wondered just what the answer might be.

"It's more like I'm not sure there's any place for me back there. I think my time there is all up." She looked around at the gathered heroes, "But as far as new lives go, this one isn't too bad. It's just taking some getting used to."

She looked back to Zelda with a serious look in her eyes, "That's why I want to be on the team to rescue our captives. If this is to be my new home then I want to be responsible for it. And I want to go out and see it with my own eyes."

"I see. I'm sorry. I wish I knew what to tell you." Zelda shook her head with a worried stare.

"Until then we are always happy to have your help." She smiled then not wanting her worry to affect James. She was sure that he was even more worried than she was and she didn't want to make it worse. "I know your will be a great asset."

"I will. Thank you." With a smile she turned back towards the crowd. There was so much going on and Zelda didn't want to miss a moment of it.
