GET BACK TO WORK!
Characters: MarKus and OPEN (mostly newbies?)
Where: Aqures Ixen - Haley's Anvil
When: March 7th - 11th
Summary: MarKus starts hammering out gear for the rescued arrivals. Upon request, of course!
Warning: Foul language?

After having that slacker Kugami put up new advertisements, MarKus has finally put himself back to work, at the forge where he belongs. He'll be on break from adventuring for a while, but there was a hefty handful of people who were going to be in need of gear that fit them, since they surely didn't start with a damn thing being imprisoned right away. Surely someone needed that special sword or arm guard just to feel a little more comfortable with things.
And you know, defending oneself from the creatures beyond the city walls, though by now they'd probably chumps after everyone's recent excursion. In the meantime, however, he already had someone's armor to check over, having left his employees to manage things, so he's got his nose buried in Sephiroth's armor

With me there is no "late"
Or they were unsellable rejects made during experiments.
Another Moogle fluttered past Manami, and shortly after it had disappeared from sight, the rhythmic hammering in the smithy lessened, and approached a man behind a metal mask.
"Yo"
Perfect o7
Whoa~!
"Yo!" He's always wanted to try greeting someone with 'yo'. Feels so ...foreign.
And he's completely forgotten what comes next. What is he doing again? ...Oh, yah!
"A lance, please!" (Don't make it sound like you're ordering a burger, Manami.)
Re: Perfect o7
"So you need a lance huh? Chocobo Knight?" he asks, having once used that job as well, as well as having a Chocobo of his own.
He should go visit Gundam sometime...

But other questions first- "Chocobo Knight? What's a Chocobo?"
Did Tia tell him about that? ...Mmm. He's not sure. She's been stuffing his head full of stuff ever since he got here. It's hard to remember.
no subject
"Uh... wait... so you DON'T know what your jobs are but you want a lance anyway? That's gutsy." But maybe he didn't know. He didn't see a moogle in tow, but as soon as MarKus was going to pipe up, his Moogle shuts him down to explain.
"A Chocobo Knight is a warrior job that utilizes his, or her, Chocobo as their greatest weapon. From what I understand from him, it is like a two-legged motorcycle bird. He has deducted from your request for a lance that one of your jobs IS Chocobo Knight, meaning that you have also yet to go and get your own Chocobo from the farm."
MarKus pushes the wordy smartass down to silence him in return. "Yeah basically that. You get a big yellow bird to ride around. They're roughly the sizes of horses or small motorcycles."
no subject
"Sorry, I don't have one of those. I'm a Dragoon." He takes out the letter that he'd gotten when he first arrived and opens it to show him. "Dragoon and Illusionist, actually. Tia said to ask for a lance, seeing as Dragoon is the first job. No, wait-" he tilts his head, doing his best to remember Tia's last lecture before coming here. "Spear... Is there a difference?"
no subject
Though why pair that with Illusionist? What good would that do? Says the guy pairing Blacksmith and Thief
no subject
"Oooh." Manami echoes that sound of realization as he gets a visual aid in what the difference is. He nods emphatically, remembering the weight of the spear he'd borrowed during the escape.
"Haha! Even spears are heavy. I wouldn't want anything even heavier! My legs are plenty strong, but my arms, well, not as much. Heh."

He takes the spear and hefts it carefully. Somehow he feels a bit more comfortable holding it than the first time he had, but it's still a bit strange. And, well...
"Sorry, it's a little heavy." Trying to find the center of balance, the back end hits the ground with a clunk. Ah. "Just a little though. I might be able to get used to it but... Oh! Oh, could I try it? The difference between wood and metal? Do you have a target around?" (This isn't exactly a training yard, Manami...)
no subject
That's also an important question! This, again, presents more options but with a shrug, MarKus digs out a spear from the back, basic damascus metal tip along the wodden shaft. "Here."
Hmm... maybe the Illusionist bit was making him more nimble than... what's the word... tanky.
no subject
He hefts the wooden spear, trying to see if he could. ...Mmm.
"Maybe not? I was actually thinking of Jump! It's great! I fly through the air, and then bam~ can land on the enemies. Well, in theory. I haven't tried it on an enemy yet. I'm sure it'll be different on something that moves. But I feel like being light is important, when you're flying! It's like having a good light frame for your bike! It has to be strong enough too though, or it'll break, like you said."

bikes...
"You know, you're the second one to bring up bikes." he says. "You used to right back home?" He says it as if he used to as well. Sadly no! "Someone else asked me to make them a bike. I haven't yet but... I don't know that I have the right tools to make a light one."
And POUT...
no subject
That's how it works, right? The character gathers the money and materials, the blacksmith magically makes the thing out of the stuff!
He's way eager for this. Please say you'll try to make him a bike!
no subject
He DID want something more hype.
"Except for the parts about it magically happening. I actually HAVE to make it, the chain, the piping, the wheels. It's not magic around here. There is magic, but stuff doesn't just poof into existence."
no subject
"Oh..." More disappointment. No magically formed parts, eh.
But still! That was close enough to a 'yes' to cheer him up considerably! And all he needs is money!
"Okay! I'll go earn a lot of money for you then!"
And he turns to run out of the shop (still holding the wooden spear).
