GET BACK TO WORK!
Characters: MarKus and OPEN (mostly newbies?)
Where: Aqures Ixen - Haley's Anvil
When: March 7th - 11th
Summary: MarKus starts hammering out gear for the rescued arrivals. Upon request, of course!
Warning: Foul language?

After having that slacker Kugami put up new advertisements, MarKus has finally put himself back to work, at the forge where he belongs. He'll be on break from adventuring for a while, but there was a hefty handful of people who were going to be in need of gear that fit them, since they surely didn't start with a damn thing being imprisoned right away. Surely someone needed that special sword or arm guard just to feel a little more comfortable with things.
And you know, defending oneself from the creatures beyond the city walls, though by now they'd probably chumps after everyone's recent excursion. In the meantime, however, he already had someone's armor to check over, having left his employees to manage things, so he's got his nose buried in Sephiroth's armor

"Look, you're new, so, lemme break it down. This world has "rules". Jobs are a set of rules, mostly dictating what kind of fighting ability you can use and more importantly, what kind of weapons you can use. I don't know why but that's just how it is." he retorts.
"You're trying to use a gun with, by what the rules state, a job that can't use guns. Of course you can't shoot straight. You're not supposed to." But MarKus is never a man full of negativity, no no!
"It is a little dinged up, but I can get that straightened out and everything in a day's time. There're more complicated guns here so I can get this tuned up just fine. However YOU are going to have to completely retrain yourself. Break the mold, if you will. That is, if you're that desperate to keep using this. What you DO want, is a spear, or a whip. Maybe a knife as a backup."
And MarKus's Moogle perks up, if only to scold the seedy looking fluffball hovering around Gaston. "You did tell him that, didn't you?"

"Well, kupo, Mister Gaston said he was a master hunter at home. It made sense that he should be able to use his gun. That's what he said." The moogle huffed and frowned. Clearly the blame didn't lie with him OR Gaston.
"That's right! I can use it just fine back where I came from. How can a world simply take away my skill like this!" Gaston's boots tromped as he turned and looked at the weapons on display. "How much for one of these?" He ground his teeth even as he appraised the weapons. The indignity of all of this!

"This world just... does things. After all, I would've easily been caught taking this back home." he says, pointing that so-very-important handmirror of his that was formerly tucked under his belt. Thieves man, but at least he was immediately returning it by displaying it.
But to the weapons at hand. "Because you're new here, and I'm fucking awesome like that, you get one for free. I don't like the crap they're supposed to 'give' you for your job. I'll get you suited up so you can make money and buy something better." It was his business model. Set them up with 'level 2' gear, but anything better costs. "And tuning your gun is on the house too. Matter of fact, I want to SEE someone break the job mold."

He was pulled out of his thoughts by MarKus' theft. A dark look came over his face as he lunged for it, snatching it away and ready to lay into the man. He stopped again when the smith made his commentary on newbie weapons. He smiled, finally feeling like he was getting some respect in this place. "Excellent. What did you say? I should be using a spear and a whip? I suppose they will do."
"Now then, be sure to take good care of my musket. It's a mighty hunting too. I don't suppose you'll see a stronger gun in this world." Feel free to tell him about all those fun advancements in firearms, MarKus.

"Alright. You'll probably need some armor too. But... that depends on your tastes. I don't think I have anything right away that fits someone as big as you but..." he brain shifts gears. "I think you'd do just fine if we just go for paldrons and gauntlets. Maybe something around the waist. Protected, but not hidden behind a wall of metal so the monsters will respect you." he goes on.
"Oh... ohohoho, sir sir, I'm from a time where these are vastly outdated. If you're talking a single shot, I'm sure you can easily blow heads away but." he waves his finger. "There exist much bigger, much more complicated weapons. Maybe not here, but they exist. Put this against some of the more modern guns here. Really, check them out. But I will take good care of your gun."
no subject
"More complicated guns you say? Something from your world I take it? Do you mean to say that there's a way to fire a rifle multiple times before needing to reload?" The hunting potential made his head spin. "Keep me well equipped and I'll be sure to be a steady customer. Deal?"
no subject
"I can't help you with a tunic, but they might hook you up down the road if you let em know I sent you over." Gaston is provided a very modern thumbs-up as far as their deal is concerned. For now, he is provided a spear and come get his gun in a couple of days, which will have a couple of pieces remade and refitted, otherwise precisely the same! Even the wooden parts re-laquered!
