Intro Log || The City That Never Sleeps

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Trano Golsaucia, Aqures Ixen, Airships.
When: The 5th of May. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in the Temple of Wind next to Trano Golsaucia, and they are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within a split second, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had are now gone. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you...

And at this very moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by a gentle breeze. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call once more, but is soon replaced by a much less graceful "Wake up, Kupo!" Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally bring you back to your senses. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Wind, in the Temple located right outside of a city called Trano Golsaucia. At this point, you may realize the breeze originates from the massive green Crystal floating nearby. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding.

Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures. They look pretty tired, but they will be more than happy to tell you everything you want to know. They shall tell you about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light and about what awaits you. Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

There are quite a few people around you as well. For the most part, they are people like you-- All clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. There are also some other Humans, Tarutaru and Hypello in the room, but unlike you they don't have a Crystal, nor do they have a Moogle following them. If addressed, they will say they are the Guardians of the Crystal of Wind and will confirm everything the Moogle said. They will reveal they found you unconscious around the Crystal a couples hours ago, and immediately contacted the Moogles and the government of Aqures Ixen.

If asked about it, both the Moogles and Guardians will explain that Heroes of Light have already appeared in this world within the past year, and they all are in a city called Aqures Ixen. It's the first time Heroes have appeared in this temple. In fact, you probably should go to Aqures Ixen as well. The Moogle will tell you this is where your house is and where the other Heroes will be able to help you. Thankfully, should you decide to take your sweet time to get there, the other Heroes may just come to you.

The Other Heroes
— Anytime —
And indeed, thanks to the efficiency of Mognet and Shoopuf Airline it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around. You may meet them in Trano Golsaucia or in Aqures Ixen, or maybe even in one of the Airships going back and forth between the two cities. They are those who arrived in this world months ago and they have gone through quite a lot. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you there were other Heroes of Light in this world. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you how they recklessly attacked the Heran Empire to free their friends a few months ago. And most importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a complete and utter disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

Trano Golsaucia
— Anytime —
Should you leave the Temple of Wind and head south, you will reach Trano Golsaucia. It's a gigantic city covered with snow-- To make it simple, this city is a gigantic amusement park. It is the most popular place in this world and of course, there are plenty of people all around. Thankfully, other Heroes of Light are easy to spot: they are the only ones who are followed by a Moogle and holding a Crystal.

And there is quite a lot to be done in this city. Maybe you could stop by the Triple Triad Center to begin a successful career in card games, or maybe you could buy a ticket at the Blitzball Stadium to support your favorite team. If you're the kind of person who relies on luck, you may have more fun gambling in the Casino or betting on your favorite Chocobo in the Chocobo Races. If you're more of a person who enjoys simpler games, maybe you could try one of the numerous carnival-style mini-games found in the city, such as the shooting stand or the treasure chest game.

Of course, all of this requires money and odds are that you may not have a single Gil yet. If your Moogle is nice though, maybe you could ask him or her to loan you some Gil...

Airships
— Every Four Hours —
Upon reaching Trano Golsaucia, you will also have the right to board an Airship. Exceptionally, there is an Airship available every four hours, all because of your arrival so that Heroes of Light can meet each other and go to Aqures Ixen with ease.

The flight itself should take between four to six hours as it will travel from one city to the other on route. This is nothing special for the denizens of this world, but for you it may be quite the experience if you never boarded a plane or any flying contraptions before. The service is nothing special, but there are some light refreshments offered free of charge. Note that most of the employees on Airships are Hypello.

Aqures Ixen
— After an Airship Trip —
Upon arriving in Aqures Ixen, the first thing you will see is the Airship Port in the 12th District. Following that, no doubt your eyes will find the Castle of Aqures Ixen, a classic yet refined structure standing in the city. From there on, characters are free to visit the city-- There are no attractions in this city, but there are scientific buildings, another Blitzball Stadium and even an Observatory serving as base for the Heroes of Light. If you'd like more details regarding all that is available in Aqures Ixen, you can find everything here!

Or maybe -and perhaps inevitably!- you could visit your new house in the 11th or 14th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. It's been a long day, so you could use some sleep. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with...

"I see." Her smile shifted becoming more gentle as she looked over at Sophie. "Well, first we can enroll you in school. They will teach you all sorts of things. I can't help you remember your home but I'd be happy to teach you what I can." Zelda was skilled at many domestic skills that she'd be happy to teach to someone else.

"As for what I try and do. Well, we don't know how long we will be here so besides collecting information I try and make the heroes comfortable and keep their spirits up. I think we are stronger if we are happy." She was trying to simplify it for the young girl.

School would probably be a good idea. At least then she'd learn how to read and write, among other things. Fortunately she was a quick study. Sophie nodded slowly, seeing no reason to refuse that offer. "Okay."

Taiga let out a sigh of relief, since most kids were a little rebellious about things like school. "I was hoping someone around here might know her, kupo, but no such luck so far."

"Happy..." Sophie hmmm'd. That was a familiar word to her.

"We will have to keep looking. Have you thought about sending out a notice to the heroes of light? It might be quicker than searching aimlessly. I can also watch her for a moment if you'd like to send such a letter."

Zelda knew there would be a chance that someone wouldn't know her. It wouldn't be the first time someone woke up with no memories. Her gaze trained on the young girl and she felt a slight tug at her heart. She hoped that someone knew her.

"That's right. Happy." She smiled. "So if you need anything just ask."

"I have, kupo, but I was going to send it once we reached Aqures Ixen." His hope that someone might know Sophie might be a -tiny- bit selfish though, if only so he could foist her off on someone who was familiar with her when he felt out of his depth! But he also thought she'd be more comfortable with someone who knew her too.

Sophie nodded again. "Okay...but ... like what?" Anything could be...well.. ANYTHING!

Taiga almost facepalmed again, "We're just waiting for the airship now, kupo," he added. "At least she seems to know what a ship is." Maybe. Just not one that flies.

Zelda's confident smile stays across her lips as she looked from the moogle to his hero. It was a rather strange situation but he was at lest trying to help. Though she was told the moogles were paid a fair amount to be companions to the heroes.

"Anything. Let's see. I can tell you some about my world or if you want to know more about here. We can also try different foods." Scents and tastes were known to trigger memories in people and so it was worth a shot. "I can tell you about the heroes and some of the legends I know or about the other cities here." She might have been repeating herself some but she wanted to make sure she was breaking it down so the topics would be less vague.

"Or about flowers."

He was trying his best, but having never dealt with children before, let alone female ones, there were obviously going to be some areas he would have difficulty. At least Sophie was a good kid - even if she did wander off a lot.

That was a lot of things Zelda could tell Sophie about, and all of them seemed interesting. But it was the latter one that really seemed to get her interest. "Flowers?" She perked up even more, "What kind?" She remembered flowers. Flowers were something important - what the significance of that was though, she wasn't sure.

Zelda smiled. "All kinds. When I get back to Aqures I'm going to start planting. Spring has finally thawed the ground. I was thinking iris's or daisy's though a few people suggested roses as well."

She couldn't show her and this place was far to cold for flowers to have begun to bloom. She thought about it for a moment and then smiled. "When I go to plant them, would you like to help? Maybe you can help me pick out more. There is a flower store in Aqures as well as a store that sells seeds."

Sophie nodded again, this time smiling. "Yes, I would like that." They can plant flowers all over the place - at least this is the what Sophie is thinking. But after glancing around the area thoughtfully, she did take note that no flowers were growing here. "How come there aren't any flowers here? Is it because it's too hard?"

"It's too cold here. Aqures is warmer and it's the start of spring when the grown thaws. There are so plants here but there aren't as vibrant as flowers." Her tone was gentle, like that of a mother.

Zelda smiled widely glancing around the area. "I'm sure we can find a flower shop here though." Her eyes then set on Sophie. "Want to go see?"

Sophie nodded again, more eagerly. Flowers were definitely relevant to her interest! "I want to see the flowers. Can we go see them now?"

Zelda laughed turning towards Kopula. "You don't know of a flower shop in town do you?" The little moogle nodded knowing one and it was only a short walk away. He flew in front of them and then waved his little paw. "This way! Kupo!"

She turned towards Sophie, "Let's go. Do you have a favorite flower?" Since she seemed to like them so much she just might.

"I don't know," Sophie said, "But, I feel like flowers are important." Turning as Kopula called them to follow, she started to trot off, glancing over her shoulder, "Tiger Festival, you'll be left behind if you don't hurry." She cautioned.

"Huh? Oh right k- hey wait! I said it's Taiga, kupo!!" The moogle protested, scrambling after the group.

Zelda laughed at the pair. It was new but she knew that the two would get along. Her eyes then fixed to the back of Kopula as he fluttered in front of her. "Let's see then. There are for-get-me-nots, dandelions, daffodils, and carnations."

Her smile grew wider. "I like iris's though. In the language of flowers it means the power of belief." Zelda loved flowers as well.

Sophie listened intently as Zelda rattled off a couple of the flower names, keeping pace with the taller woman easily. "Flowers have a language?" She asked, impressed. "Can you talk to them? Can I learn how to speak flower in school?"

That stifled snrk would be Taiga, doing his level best not to laugh out loud. Good on ya, Taiga.

"Not exactly." Zelda just smiled, unphased by her mistake. "You see people use flowers to tell things to those they care about. A rose to express love or carnation to represent friendship. It's what you do when you don't have the words to express how you feel."

She smiled against hoping that she was clear while trying not to cast a firm gaze at Taiga. It was better to be patient so that people could learn on their own.

"Oh." Sophie didn't seem embarrassed by the mistake, at least. "What does a carnation look like?" Because being able to use something to express the way you feel might come in handy for Sophie, since she didn't know emotions very well.

Taiga at least managed to keep from laughing out loud -- mostly. He could already tell staying with his Hero was going to be very interesting.

"I'll show you." Zelda's pace slowed as they approach the simple store front that Kopula was floating in front of. "Found it Kupo!"

Zelda looked towards Sophie with a smile. "Let me know if you like any of the flowers in particular." She walked in and as soon as she found a carnation she moved towards it. She lifted a single carnation from the stand as she waved Sophie over. "Here, see. This is a carnation."

"Okay." Sophie agreed, following Zelda into the store. It was easy for her to be distracted by the many, many flowers - Taiga wasn't particularly interested, but he plopped down on top of Sophie's head like a hat, so he wouldn't lose track of the small girl. Most of the flowers Sophie paused by were particularly colorful, but she was crouched to a potted set of wind flowers when Zelda called her over.

She got up so quickly, that poor Taiga tumbled right off of her head, his wings fluttering like mad to right himself as he hurried after her. Sophie, as she reached the carnation, leaned tilted her head slightly. "It's pretty...and it smells nice. These ones mean friendship?"

"Yes." Zelda's voice was sweet, almost giddy, as she handed the flower over to the young girl. "They come in all sorts of colors too." Her smile widened as her bright blue eyes shifted back towards the collection of flowers.

"Why not pick out a few? I'll buy them for you."

Zelda sure wasn't kidding, about the assortment of colors the flowers came in. It was really something else. The offer to buy a few flowers for her was met with a smile, and Sophie nodded. "Really? ...Okay!"

She took her time picking out the flowers, until she had a small handful of no more than three or four flowers, two purple and two blue. "Is it a different meaning if they're a different color?"

"Not that I know of but if you want you can assign them meanings." Zelda smiled. "Should you give them away or keep them. It will make it so they mean a little bit more." She believed in these small things, trinkets and flowers. They brought hope and light where it felt that all light was lost.

Zelda stepped over to the counter placing the gil on the counter and then picking out a few flowers herself. They were just daisy's and she thought that Link might like to see the bright colors decorate their kitchen table. Once she was finished she turned towards Sophie with a wide smile.

"Have you thought of what you might want them to mean?"

"I can give them meanings..?" Hmmm, this will require some extra thought. She kind of likes the friendship meaning though. As Zelda paid for the flowers, Sophie studied her gift thoughtfully. "I'm not sure." How do you word things!?

"How about..." She held up the purple flower, "This one means friendship, and this one... this one means protection.." She decided of the blue one.

"I like that." Zelda's smile was wide as she guided the young girl from the shop. "You can also keep the flowers if you don't want to give them away. I believe there is a flower shop in Aqures also. They might have different flowers there."

She looked over at the girl hoping that she would find comfort in these stems when she knew little else.

"There is?" Awesome, she wanted to see the other flowers too. This made it perfect. Sophie glanced down at her flowers, thoroughly pleased. "Thank you," she remembered her manners! "I'll take good care of them." She won't let anyone hurt these precious blossoms.

"How do I get what you used to take the flowers?" In case she wanted to get more. Oh sure, someone could buy it for her, but she was curious enough to want to get things for herself too.

"Oh? You mean gil?" Zelda thought for a moment looking over at the young girl. "How old are you?" She let's the question hang in the air briefly before continuing. "I'm sorry. What I mean is that those who are young enough can go to school. You will get a small allowance for food I believe as a student. Otherwise you would get a job."

Zelda smiled hoping that she explained it okay. She wasn't sure if Sophie was old enough or wanted to get a job.
