Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Jade stepped slowly over the grass, taking in the sight before him. The crystal was cracked, much like the one they had seen in Sub-level 27, but where that one had been bright enough that they'd barely seen inside it, the one before him was giving out. Now, what could that mean...?

He scanned the area for people. The little girl was a new face, but the others... Kalki, that Ib girl... The man from the other dream, Igor... and there, under the tree...

Jade swallowed hard, trying not to think too hard about what he was feeling at that moment, and knelt by Professor Nebilim's side. "Professor?" he ventured. She didn't react, not even when he gingerly touched her arm.

He turned to the little girl. There were a number of more relevant questions he should be asking, and yet... What left his lips was an uncharacteristically spontaneous one. "What is she looking at?"

"She is looking for an answer."

The little girl didn't turn to look at Nebilim, but after a while spent staring at him, offered him a few more words of explanation.

"The real Nebilim is dead, both the one here and the one from your world."

Jade nodded slowly, keeping his eyes on the girl. He knew she was dead in his world, and supposedly the Professor in Crystallis had sacrificed herself... whatever that had entailed.

"This one isn't real, then. So, what is she? Why is she here?"

"A memory."

he took a pause, but answer the second question as well.

"They're the reason behind my existence."

The Professor, Ib, Igor, and Kalki... The ones who had chosen to go through with the plan to stop the Calamity from spreading.

"Then you were created because of the plan they made 2000 years ago? Just what did they do?"

"They wanted you to have a chance."

"That much I could tell."

Hearing her thoughts had been the worst part.

"But how? What did they do with the Crystal of Fire to stop the crystallization?"

"They did not stop the crystallization. The guardian did."

"The guardian?" Every answer seemed to beget more questions. "What is this guardian?"

"He is the one who ensure the continuity of the cycle. He is neither good nor evil, he only exists to prevent the Calamity from devouring everything."

"I see... By keeping the Calamity occupied with Crystallis, he's stopping it from spreading elsewhere." Did that mean he allowed the Calamity to awaken each time, then stopped it just before it was too late?

"If he was the one who restarted everything last time, then... Did the Heroes accomplish anything, in the end?"

"They defied him and rejected his way."

"...I suppose that does mean something."

He glanced at the memory of Nebilim. "You said you were created because of them. What is your purpose?"

"..."

She slowly extended a hand toward him, and with a pulse Jade was ejected from the garden and kicked right into another memory. Probably not something she was ready to answer yet.
