Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Zelda didn't know what she was watching as the scene plays out before her eyes. She knew that Nanami had demons that she was running from but she didn't know what form they took. This young man made Zelda shiver as if she could sense the darkness within his heart.

Zelda walked up to the girl who watched the dream. Her voice was soft speaking her name so that she would know that she wasn't alone.

"Nanami."

Nanami looked up. "What are you doing here?" she asked. She didn't know why she was seeing things from her past, or and seeing them like she was someone else, but Zelda made this whole thing even odder.

"I don't know." She glanced around before letting her gaze rest on Nanami. No matter how she looked at it she didn't know this place.

"This is the second memory I've been in." She felt a shiver run through her at the thought of visiting other memories. She had seen things that she shouldn't have and she wasn't sure what it meant for Nanami.

"I'm sorry all this happened to you."

"Why are you apologizing," Nanami said bitterly. "You weren't even there."

"No one should have to go through that." Zelda glanced over at Nanami. It was obvious how these events had affected the pour girl.

Her expression was calm but Zelda didn't smile. "You are very strong to be able to keep going."

"What else could I do?" Nanami said. "It wasn't like I had much of a choice in the matter."

Well, she could have tried to pretend her brother's offer was a way to have someone care about her again. Even if she knew it was a lie.

Zelda didn't have an answer to her question. She had only seen part of the story. She looked over at Nanami with a gentle gaze.

"The question is what are you going to do now?"

"I've been trying to figure that out since I got here," Nanami said. "All the people at school want me to be a Hero." She was trying to think what she had that she liked. Feeling popular. Feeling like people wanted to be around her, but whenever she was with people, she always assumed they wanted something for her, or were looking for some weakness. So much of her time before Crystalis had been trying to be the perfect little sister and popular girl, that she'd never found other things to do with her time. Sure, she'd studied swords, but mostly because her brother had. And music and other things in class, because it was expected of her.

"Do what you want to do. Be yourself. You get to decide who you want to be. So why not describe to me the type of person you want to be."

Zelda watched Nanami curiously. Only she could decide her own fate.

"I want people to like and admire me," she said. "I don't want to be alone, or ignored. But... I want that to be because I have something that people can admire me for. Not just being Touga's little sister. Like, back home, Juri-sempai is always so fashionable and Miki is a genius at math and piano, and both are champion fencers. Even Tenjou-san has people fawning after her because she's good at sports and stands up to the teachers."

But, none of them could break away from the duels, and Nanami had. Was it because they had something they still wanted to fight for or because Nanami had something they lost.

"I don't know what I'm good at." She used to think she was good with people, but someone good with people wouldn't have been played so much by Touga.

"Nanami. You are young. You have time to find what you are good at. We hall have it and I know that there is something that only you can do. It might take time to find it but it sounds like you have a starting place." Her voice was soft and gentle.

"Work hard and you will be admired. I know that I admire you. You've been through so much and yet you stay strong. I think that's worth admiring."

"You admire me?" Nanami said, her eyes narrowing. Because she couldn't believe it. Even if Zelda said why. "Even if I just want to go home and I don't want any of this?" Even if she was an ordinary girl?

"Yes." Zelda smiled when she looked at her. "Is that so surprising?"

She glanced back at the scene. "Honestly, I don't think I could do what you do here. When I was your age. I didn't really know what to do. I turned twenty recently. I haven't told anyone but the reason that I act so mature is because there were memories that I was given. Memories of someone much older than me. It's hard to separate me from that person from myself at times."

Zelda shifted her stare back towards Nanami. "So you see. We all have things we face. You bare it well."

"Not just the dreams we had," Nanami had remembered someone who had reminded her of Zelda in the dream, but who wasn't.

"No. This was before I came here. I was... kidnapped from my home." She paused looking at Nanami as she spoke.

"Someone saved me and told me of my destiny. I was to pray to the goddess and receive her memories because I was told that I was her reincarnation. I was to give up everything to fight this darkness that I didn't even know existed. I had to even use my closest friend to do that."

Zelda took a deep breath. "I didn't want to do it."

"Why'd you do it then? if you didn't want to?"

Zelda just shook her head. "I didn't feel like I have a choice."

"That's why I always tell you, even if it doesn't feel like it. You always have a choice."

"I always have a choice." And she had chosen things. Or tried to.

Zelda smiled wistfully at Nanami. "So then do what you told me you want to do and believe in yourself."

Nanami was at an age that she could be anything.

"Right." She had to stop focusing on the past. She wasn't at Ohtori any more. Wasn't that the point?

Zelda smiled at Nanami. "I'm happy that this has made you stronger." It was admirable though Nanami might never see it herself.

"You really are, aren't you?" Nanami asked.

Zelda watched Nanami curiously. "Of course." She smiled then.

"Are you surprised?"

"Can you blame me?"

Zelda's smile remains in place but her eyes look sad. "I suppose not."
