Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.
"Kali Shashidhwaja."
Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.
This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Yuri was hardly ever serious but as a visitor to a memory of someone he knew, he couldn't help but be the person to give them comfort of some sort. His hand rested on her head, and even if it seemed childish, it was something he sort of knew how to do. He's not very good with expressing himself otherwise. (AKA those fights with Flynn were standard ways of showing how he really felt.)
He could understand however, that kind of feeling. He remembered watching Nylen and what he did for them all. His Blastia suddenly ached.
no subject
She just wanted to disappear and as she wished it, her hand slowly faded as if becoming forever part of her nightmare.
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no..." She was changing as if the word was stuck in her throat and never able to full form.
no subject
Maybe it's the first time in a while since he properly addressed her by her name and not some nickname he gave her. He knows that sort of heart wrenching feeling, that's why he was going to do what he thought was right and even if he got hurt for it. Both Flynn's father and Niren were people he looked up to and both were no longer of the living.
"Hey," He shook her a little after calling out to her, "Stay with me, you hear?"
no subject
"Y-you said my name." Or had he? She didn't remember. She kept her eyes on him winching when she heard the sounds of guns. "It's happening again and again... it doesn't stop." Her hand shook as she reached out hoping that Yuri was really there and not some apparition that her mind had made up.
"You're here?"
no subject
"Yeah, I did. Now, put yourself together so we can figure out how to stop this little messed up thing they're doing."
He's not in the mood to deal with any of this right now, because memories are the types of things that should be kept alone. He didn't need to be reminded of his past. The man kept a firm grasp on her, reminding her that she's not by herself. He's not used to seeing Yuffie like this.
"I'm right here," he replied again.
no subject
Yuffie wanted to stop shaking, she wanted to stop the pain in her chest that made it hard to breath. She looked up at Yuri realizing that he was seeing her like this and she wanted to stop that too.
She clamped her eyes closed and leaned forward against him. "This sucks." It's all she could say to show her frustration and pain.
no subject
He's only assuming. He's not a hundred percent sure, but the hunch, he's going to go with it. What else could it be really? Well, actually he shouldn't be asking that question in his head at all. It's not like he'd judge her for being the way she was. He wasn't exactly any better living in his own made hell of memories.
He held her as she leaned forward. He was really just a caring person. There was no way he could make the situation any better.
"No kidding."
no subject
After a long moment Yuffie stopped crying and quieted. Her grip on his shirt didn't lessen and she's sure that it's stained with her tears.
"Can't it stop?" She wanted the sounds to stop. Even when she looked away she knew it was happening. She could feel her mothers arms around her.
no subject
He obviously had no idea what to do beyond this. He hardly knew that this was some sort of fabricated memory lane. He rested his hand on her head until she calmed down enough for him to scope the area.
"Good question," he replied, "but I got nothing. Stick to me and don't move anywhere."
He's good at this...so how to get out of it?
no subject
Yuffie rested her head against him not looking up at him. This was stupid, she should feel so weak but she can't stop the trembling of her heart or the unsteadiness of her breath.
"There has to be a reason." Her voice was quiet as her mind tried to work everything out. "There has to be a reason they are showing me this."
no subject
He's not betting on any sort of useful reason for this. He had been more or less against this "Heroes of Light" bull shit, and other things. He's not going to believe they have a a good reason for digging up people's past.
He's not particularly unfamiliar with comforting others, but it was obviously strange for him to have Yuffie the way she is right now. He didn't really need to see her personal memories, but she obviously needed it right now.
"Yeah well, we're going to keep moving. You're going to have to loosen up if we're going to walk anywhere," he replied, though there was still a strong sense of concern in his voice but sitting here and dawdling wasn't his style.
no subject
She snuffled once and then used his shirt to wipe her face off. She didn't really care what it might have done to his shirt.
The shoots fired again and Yuffie jumped but she didn't appear to be in so much distress anymore. Her fingers of her right hand curled around his shirt hear his waist line and they have no plans on moving. She was fine with him leading but she didn't want to be alone right now.
no subject
"Yeah, and I'm the guy that's gonna change that thought," he replied as he started walking. Even if it took them back, he had to figure how to stop it. There had to be a clue or something. Yuffie might be more aware of it than he was, seeing it was her memory, dream or whatever the hell they want to call it.
Geez, she's paying for his dry cleaning later. For now, Yuri's just letting her do waht she wants since she needs it. Then again, it's highly awkward walking around with Yuffie clinging to him. He ruffled her hair a bit, "Hey, no need to squeeze the life out of me. I' m not going anywhere."
no subject
It's easier to joke about it and she released his shirt a little bit though she was still attached to him.
As they walked into the main house the young Yuffie ran pass them. The man that had shouted after his princess was an older gentlemen most likely the man who was charged to protect Yuffie during the war. They don't get far into the house before the dream flips and then are walking back outside of the building.
"I'd rather show you my home when it's not doing this." She wiped at her eyes and bit by bit her composure was regained.
no subject
"Yeah, well, your hair is the least of our worries right now, isn't it?" he replied, a sort of smug look was plastered on his face. He proceeded to continue to ruffle her hair for a moment longer to lighten the mood.
He wasn't the type to stick to be depressing and serious all the time. He's glad that she was catching wind of everything and trying to push it behind her. Hell, he didn't really blame her for feeling the way she did. Yuri watched as the scenes played themselves out, vividly and realistically. No wonder she had felt so unease at it all.
"It can't be helped. Now, we should figure out exactly what we should be doing to get out of this mess, starting with what you already tried, Yuffie."
no subject
"No matter where I ran. I ended up here. I couldn't fight and I couldn't stop it. I couldn't do anything." She paused taking a deep breath. "It's just a memory."
Yuffie looked over at Yuri. "There is nothing you can do to fight a memory." She just had to accept it. With that thought in mind the world began to fall away into darkness. Yuffie's eyes widened as she looked at Yrui.
"What's happening!" Her voice sounded distant and with the rest of the dream Yuri and Yuffie both vanished being sent to different memories.
no subject
"Man these guys sure know how to make a twisted carnival."
He muttered sarcastically. He didn't get to add much else, because the surrounding was starting to dissipate in front of him.
"It's just one thing after another isn't it?" He's seriously so done with all of this.
