Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Yuffie moved when Ramza's fingers directed her gaze. she felt so raw like there was nothing left of her except for her soul which born it's wounds to the world. Her eyes shined brightly the dark almond orbs reflecting his stare.

"Her life..." She choked a sob. "It's worth so much more than mine." Her voice was soft. This is what she truly believes. "I could never be the princess she wanted me to be." Her teeth clenched as if trying to swallow the words that caused her so much pain.

She was trembling as every defense she had left wavered and fell. "I wish she was here."

"You will always miss her, Yuffie. 'Tis a pain that never fully goes away," he told her honestly. Ramza still ached for his and Alma's mother, years after her passing. "But she chose you, and that cannot be changed."

He released her and searched through his pockets for a handkerchief to offer her.

"So all you can do is dry your tears and live your life the way she would want you to. It has nothing to do with worth or royal blood...she traded her life because she loves you. You shall live yours because you love her. Can you do that?" he asked, catching her teary eyes once more.

Her gaze was trained on Ramza as she tried to steady her breathing. She listened to him but she didn't have an answer.

"I don't know"

Yuffie wanted to believe him but it was so hard. Her heart hurt so much. She couldn't make the pain vanish even if she tried. She missed her mother and she didn't think that she could be the princess that her mother wanted her to be.

And all of this didn't change that it was her fault.

Ramza sighed. He knew Yuffie had the strength to move past her past, even if she was uncertain.

"I know. You can do it. You have been doing it. You cannot blame yourself for the actions of that child there." He nodded toward the little girl. She was barely more than a toddler.

Were princesses allowed to be kids? Yuffie hadn't thought so which was why she always rebelled against her father. It was one of many reason why she ended up going on her journey outside of Wutai. The day she had gained her fathers acceptance was the happiest day of her life but when she returned a year or so later he was sharp and cold.

She didn't know what changed.

Had he blamed her for this? Had he ever looked at her and thought he saw her mother looking back at him? How much had Yuffie really hurt him without even knowing? She knew the lose of her mother was what made her father end the war. He hadn't wanted anymore do die like the lost of Yuffie's mother meant a lost of his spirit as well.

Yuffie swallowed the lump in her throat looking up at Ramza. He had always been there for her, like a family that she never had. "It's hard... I feel like... it's all my fault."

Ramza bent down and plucked up a stray blade of grass. He held it up to Yuffie. "You told me, when I told you about Tietra, that I should not blame myself. That she would not want that. Do you think it is any less true for you and your mother?"

She looked at the grass before carefully taking it between her fingers. Her palm quickly wiped away any stray tears before she placed the grass between her hands. Her movements were slow and her breath uneven making the noise she produced shaky at best.

Yuffie didn't answer him. She kept blowing on the small piece of grass trying to play a song either to remember or forget the passing of her mother.

After a few failed attempts she lowers the grass from her lips. "Thank you. Ramza." She didn't smile. She felt to tired and to weak but she kept the blade of grass in her hands as the dream slowly began to fall away.
