Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Yuffie’s Memory: Passive

Her hands moved to cover her ears. He was so close but she couldn't say anything. She couldn't reach out. Tears spilled over from her eyes as she heard the shots again. Why wouldn't it stop? Her breath was heavy and each inhale of air hurt like the air was stolen. She was just a thief. She shouldn't be the one that's alive. She wasn't the princess that her mother had wanted her to be. She couldn't protect anyone.

Yuffie heard his footsteps. She knew every sound of the dream and so picking out MarKus was easy. She focused on the sounds he made; his footsteps and his breath as he looked for a way out of the nightmare.

She wanted to be strong. She wanted MarKus to know her home but not this place, not this memory. She wanted him to know the wonderful city that it used to be. She slowly opened her eyes. Her tongue glided across her dry lips as her eyes watched the scene again. She moved without even realizing she had stood. Her feet lift her and guided her to his side.

Yuffie's arms wrapped around MarKus's waist while her face buried into his chest. She remembered doing this once before. She could still smell the hint of the forge where he worked and that memory slowly began to fill the hole she felt eating at her heart. She wasn't alone.

"MarKus." Her voice was soft and muffled from his shirt. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to see this."

The dream started again with the man shouting after baby-Yuffie and the young girl running towards the streets.

Well that was sudden. More along the lines of Yuffie suddenly being up against him. He thought this was some mad hallucination but now it was clear that... he was in her head, her dream, somehow, and shit was stuck on repeat like a corrupted file.

He didn't know what to say to her this time. He didn't have some TV-show scrip to pull from to comfort her on the repeat of seeing her parents die. Hell, HE didn't have nightmares about that!

He had to say something though, as he ran his hand through her hair, holding him against it. "It's okay Yuffie. It's not your fault. It's not." Was he talking about him being there? Or the repeating dream? Or the fact that mommy gave herself up to keep her alive? Who knows...

Yuffie’s Memory: Passive

Yuffie shook her head slowly, her arms tightening slightly around his waist. She was happy that he was there even with the shots sounding behind her. She flinched at each pop of their guns as if it was her who was struck.

"MarKus? Am I allowed to be happy? When my life was paid for with someone else's? I thought I was happy and now... I don't think that's okay." He had made her happy. Each time that she stopped by only to sit on the counter and watch him work. Sometimes she'd only smile at him and wave not daring to say a word or to break his concentration. Thinking back on it, it was a happy memory filled with light.

"I don't know what to do."

If anything, he was making it up on the spot... but he might've been right.

"Of course you are. They saved you so you could be happy. Your mom... maybe she was happy to protect you. My parents died smiling at me. Or... that's what I remember." he says.

And he shares her memories too. Of her just sitting around waving at him, smiling, being a pain in the butt. Camping, hanging out, going off that one time to get materials... well the beginning of that at least.

"You are allowed to be happy, no matter what happens, or what anyone else tells you. There's always a reason, just... find it. Even if it's me."

Yuffie’s Memory: Passive

She turned her head so that her ear was pressed against his chest. She could feel his heart beat and she felt a smile tug at her lips. It hurt, she hurt so much. She closed her eyes focusing on his fingers as they ran through her hair. Her hair had grown a few inches below her shoulder but the feeling of it long was still new.

"Thank you." Yuffie whispered softly. "I am happy I met you."

She was surprised that she felt so comfortable. Her body tensed every time the shots rang through the air. How could she just accept it? How could she accept that her mother was dead because she had been impatient, rash and reckless. That didn't even change. She was still like that.
