Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.
"Kali Shashidhwaja."
Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.
This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

"And I've been telling Yuna... 'Let's go to Zanaraknd together!' I told her all the things... we could-- we could..." he pulled at his hair, "And all along! The whole time, I didn't know anything!" And down to the ground he crumpled. "But Yuna, she'd... just smile..." he hunched low to the ground, as the aeon wrapped her wings around him, almost as though Valefor was trying to comfort him.

Small wonder that Lulu spotted Yuna first, and moved briskly to her side as the others were engulfed in the battle of the arriving wendigo. Effortlessly calling a spell to aid a fellow guardian in her peripheral vision, and be rid of a bothersome fiend in her path.
The black mage stands before her summoner, hand slightly out in case she needs to ready a spell as more fiends form from the errant pyreflies. Crimson eyes glance half down, worriedly - though her focus remains ahead. Torn, the mage cannot comfort and protection both at once. Her black skirts help block the fallen summoner from view for a few moments more.

Rikku met Lulu's half gaze with her own, noticing the black haired woman glancing down beside her...had she? Rikku's heart was in her throat...why was, why was Lulu looking on the ground?! Distracted, the pugilist barley manages to dash out of the dive of a Bomb fiend, made aware only by the grace of Lulu calling out in warning. The Al Bhed dances lithely back, stealthily moving away from the sights of the enemy - she left these ones for the big hitters.
Normally. Rikku reverses course, rushing back at the fire elemental as it changes its sights, from her to Pacce. A true child of Spira, the boy is as unphased by the fiend charging him as he is the bodies that lay around him - or perhaps simply unaware. Not bothering to assess the dangers Rikku darts in front of the child, punching with her pugilist arms with all the force she can muster. The creature jolts sideways, allowing her to yank the child guardian out of harms way just as it begins to expand. The act is quelled in an angry clash of magic, as Shiva - called by Isaaru, unleashes her vengeance on the creature.
"You ok?" She still holds his arm while he stares up at her, wide eyed.

There were too many fighters, it was creating chaos. He spares the child a glance with his good eye.
"Summoners, carry on. We will take care of the fiends. Rikku. Tell them where to go."
If there was going to be a protest or question of authority from the youngest of Yuna's guardian's, it was quickly quelled when Pacce begins to cough at the toxic air. She runs over to Dona and Isaaru, talking out directions with her hands.

Helping one of the guardians to their feet, he cleared his throat. "This way, ya? Rikku will show you..."

"I'm sorry -- " It was all she could say. It was all she could ever think to say. All this senselessness, all these lives lost, more death, more suffering... Wasn't being on a pilgrimage supposed to stop all of those things?! But here they all were... drowning in a sea of everything she had wanted to end. "I'm so sorry..."

"You've done nothing wrong. I wish, you had not seen that."
Lulu steals the briefest moment to place a hand to Yuna's shoulder, a gentle reassuring squeeze before she pulls away. Thundaga sounds an instant later, and with it a guardian's familiar yelp.

Rikku turned on her heels away from the orange haired blitzer, dashing to make her way through the chaos over towards Lulu. It seemed like Auron knew where Yuna was, for he was fighting to keep the fiends from heading that direction now.
The moment Rikku spots her cousin, the blonde throws herself to her hands and knees beside her. Caution be damned - the young guardian will deal with fiends when they get here. "Yuna..." The horror of it all, the lost comrades, so many deaths, the fall of Home - at least, she could still protect her family. "You're...you're here." Her voice is heavy, shaking with sorrow as she moves to try and pull the half Al Bhed into a tight embrace.

When a flurry of orange and blonde came clamouring her way again, returning the familiar squeeze helped to stop a new wave of tears. Rikku... she couldn't imagine what the young guardian was feeling, seeing, experiencing all of this... She knew that the storm of guado at Home would be disastrous but this... this was a whole new level.
"Rikku..." she sniffed -- what could she even say?

Turning back to see where Kimahri is - sure he can carry the healer if need be, what the Al Bhed sees instead brings her to her feet like a tidal wave. A dingo managed to break through the guardians, skirt Lulu's Blizzaga attack with its speed and is launching itself straight for the mage. Rikku intercepts, catching it with a left hook in the side of its head mid leap. The fiend plummets to the ground, hardening to stone.

The automatic doors to the sanctum opens, drowned out by the sounds of battle - though the incoming footsteps of the many Guado footsoldiers that fill the room are more than audible. The first row raise their gnarled hands - and those pyrflies that seemed free to wisp away suddenly condense. Still others appear and dance into hideous shapes. Where before it seemed manageable the sanctum is in mere moments, completely filled with fiends.

But when she heard his voice, that same voice she hadn't heard in so long, calling her name, after he had said all those things... Yuna stiffened, trying her best to void her face of any expression... which never worked when it came to Yuna, of course.
"Everyone's here..."
