Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

K'pandolu gave Yuffie a considering look, ears twitched forwards slightly. Yuffie had agreed, certainly, but something felt off. "You must miss her," she said, taking a guess at the matter.

Yuffie's fingers tightly gripped her legs as her eyes fell to the ground. Of course she missed her mother. She barely knew the woman who had given up so much for her.

"Yeah." She felt tears brimming to the surface threatening to spill down her cheeks once more.

K'pandolu made as if to touch Yuffie's face, then thought twice of it, hands clasped in front of her. "Those soldiers… what did they want?"

She didn't say anything for a long while. She didn't want to be questioned here with the scene playing out before her again and again. Why else did soldiers fight? Because they were told? Because someone wanted the land that they lived on. Why did anyone fight? It was to gain something that they thought was theirs.

ShinRa wanted Wutai's resources and Wutai wanted it's freedom. How could Yuffie explain the lowest point in her countries history? It wasn't so easy. She felt herself sink in on herself jumping at each shot that she knew sank into her mothers flesh.

She wanted a moment longer before finally finding her voice again. "They wanted to take Wutai from my family. They wanted to destroy my home." And they won.

The story might be familiar, but the players were not. Still, it struck a chord in her heart. One of her teachers had come from the conquered city-state of Ala Mhigo, after all.

"I'm sorry." She hesitated, gaze off to one side for a moment, ear flicking. "…but you've survived to now. Surely there's some hope in that."

Yuffie slowly shook her head. "I spent my life trying to get Wutai back." She wasn't a perfect princess but she knew that she loved her people and she wanted to protect them. Her grip on her knees tightened as the shots echoed through the air again.

She was almost happy to be talking about anything other than her mother but she couldn't stop hearing her mothers voice and feeling her arms warp protectively around her. It was only a memory but to Yuffie it felt alive.

Her hands pressed against her head trying to push the memories away.

K'pandolu fell into silence, unsure of what to say. What good were words in a situation like this? They could not bring back the dead, nor regain a country… "Ah." But then, the words Erik had spoken to Widargelt, and to herself… 'The duty that we owe to the realm is one to bring life, not death.' So, then…

The shot distracted her from her thoughts, and a rumble rose in her throat. With a shake of her head, she looked at Yuffie. "Let's see if we can move from this place," she said. "If we can speak without distractions, I should think that a great boon."

"I can't run away from here." She slowly began to look up at K'pandolu. Yuffie had tried to run but this was her memory to face. She couldn't so easily make it end but K'pandolu didn't have to stay.

Yuffie held out a hand. "I'll make it so you don't have to see..." Within a moment K'pandolu was ejected from the dream and into the dark place of memories. Yuffie would fight her memory but she'd do it alone. She was right in thinking that there were no comforting words for her. There was nothing that Yuffie could hear that would stop the pain in her heart.
