Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

"I don't even know her. Not really. But the lass doesn't look like she's in any position to fight back against you two. And if there's one thing I don't like it's someone being kicked around when they can't fight back."

She glanced back over her shoulder at the prone woman. "I'm not doing this because I have to. I'm doing it because I want to. But you, lass, you need to stand up." She turned back to face the approaching duelists and took stock of them. The man seemed to be the one in charge and the woman, "She's important to you. Isn't she? She sacrificed herself for you. That takes strength. It may have been for your sake but it's not your fault."

She kept her gaze focused on Utena. She had no weapon of her own but maybe she could disarm this one. "She wants you to live."

"I can't," Anthy sobbed, watching as this stranger - the voice, she knew this voice- defended her. "I'm the reason they are like this."

Looking between the Phantoms of Dios and Utena, she sighed heavily and felt the tears run hotly down her cheeks. She lied, she used - she selfishly clung to others when the best thing would have been to leave others alone.

"I have to live with what I did to her, she wouldn't be gone if I hadn't -"

"If you hadn't lied!"

The Phantom of Utena raised her sword and swung towards them as the Phantom of Dios watched, his own blade lowering.

"Maybe so. But do you want to be punished or do you want to make amends?"

Mary stepped in low and tried to intercept the pink haired girl's swordarm. If she could deflect it then she had a chance of stripping the sword away. Then she'd at least have a weapon.

"Nghh, those aren't always the same thing!"

It was too easy to disarm the pink haired girl, Mary's assassin training giving her a deft touch that the phantom failed to out maneuver. Behind her, Anthy began to stand and kept her gaze locked on the male phantom. They regarded each other with an odd intensity as the younger girl began to move, keeping out of the range of his sword with delicate steps.

"I don't know where to start." came the final admission, making the girl-phantom's eyes snap to Anthy.

"She gave everything so I could leave this place. I want to make amends but I don't know how."

The sword didn't even have time to hit the ground as it was pulled from Utena's hand. Mary caught it and raised it with an expert hand. An epee or a saber by the look of it, though she didn't have the time to examine it closer. Not as sturdy as she'd like but it was something she was familiar with.

Mary moved with Anthy, trying to keep herself between the young woman and her assailants. "Getting out of this place would be the first step I think. Dying here would be a terrible way to pay her back. You can worry about the rest later."

The phantoms both froze at Anthy's admission, the boy seeming to blanch for a moment. No, not blanch, fade. Sufficiently agitated, the Phantom of Dios began to howl epithets that were lost to the charged air of the arena. The Phantom of Utena simply watched, looking between Mary and Anthy with dead eyes.

The woman stood before her, stance familiar, even if her build wasn't. For a moment, Anthy could almost see the future she snatched from Utena in fear and selfishness. A backbone of steel, weary but still compassionate despite herself. She'd borne witness to someone standing in defence of her too many times.

"Go on," the rose-haired girl's voice seemed to distort slightly, the rage draining out of her voice by the syllable. "The hard part's over, Himemiya."

The Phantom's eyes cleared suddenly, brilliant baby blue for a moment before the color started to fade. Anthy gasped and dropped to her knees, sobbing as the floor of the arena began to shake.

The reaction of the spirits at first caught Mary by surprise but she quickly realized that it shouldn't have at all. Of course. Anthy had to face her fears and worries and guilt, just like she had. It wasn't easy to break away from a harsh and warped memory, but it was within their power. This place just gave them life of their own.

Even so, the shaking of the arena was a bit disconcerting. She said nothing but stood by the crying woman with her sword at the ready. If the place started to come down she was ready to pull her to her feet and run but an exit to this place wasn't precisely clear.

All she could do was put her trust in Anthy's will to live.
