Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.
"Kali Shashidhwaja."
Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.
This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

THE ALTAR.
Yuffie didn't know what was going on but it was clear that Yuna didn't want to be there. Her eyes narrowed at the gross looking man standing next to her and then at the old geezer. He didn't sound very nice. Her fingers curled into fists. What sort of sick joke is this?
"Hey! Shot me then!" Yuffie jumped forward her materia glowing as she jumped towards Seymour.

There was no where to run when Seymour took hold of her shoulders, standing face to face -- no, surely he didn't mean to...! In front of everyone, how could -- !
She was frozen in place, as his long fingers moved to brush the few errant strands of hair from her face, as he leaned closer and closer still -- pressing his lips against hers.

Then she watched him kiss her and the bells ring. Her anger only rose until she felt like it might burst forth from her chest. This was so stupid! If any of these people cared about Yuna they'd ignore her wishes and help her anyway. That's what she did. She didn't care if it was selfish or if she was reckless.
Yuffie would help because they were friends. Her life meant nothing as long as Yuna was safe.

What finally broke the silence, were the guado maester's words. "Kill them."
Yuna gasped, looking up sharply.

"Ice 3!" She shouted covering the area around the chubby Maester with ice. At least she had all of her high level materia with her or this might have been bad. She looked at those around her hoping that the spell was enough to stop some of the guards from shooting them.
Yuffie was the greatest thief. She'd steal Yuna back if she had too.

"We have to get to Yuna!"

While some of the guards worked to free themselves from the ice that had trapped them in place, a wave from behind the group advanced, firing on the guardians indiscriminately.

Yuffie turned pushing Tidus forward so that the boy could go after Yuna. She won't pretend that she knew what the hell was going on but she knew which side she was on. Her blade shined above her head before she threw the Shuriken into the closest guard.
She jumped up catching her blade as it came back to her and then began to cast Ice 3 again at the group of soldiers.

Out from behind the two of them, Auron stepped in, his arm pushing away the sleeve of his coat as he struck down on it heavily. It coughed and sputtered, but didn't go down.
And from behind them, the firing of a canon...
"Get down!" Auron shouted.

At the sound of the machina firing, she looked up, stepping backwards ever so slightly... when she found her resolve again. "No!" she yelled from her place atop the altar, taking her place at the ledge. "Throw down your weapons!" The fist she didn't remember making rose to her chest. "Let them go... Or else." Back and back she stepped, now dangerously close to the ledge.
no subject
"Yuna wait!" Yuffie almost tripped forward trying to stop Yuna from stepping backwards. This was stupid! It wasn't as if she could really jump! There was nothing their to catch her!
She turned away from any of the enemies hoping to still save Yuna, despite the hopeless arrangement.

"Leave now, please," the summoner pleaded, as soon as the group of guardians approached, her emotions running high. Her heart pounded in her chest, and her tone was desperate. "You must go! While you can, please!" she stressed.
no subject
She stomped her foot on the ground.
"Why would we let you jump!" It wasn't safe here for any of them and they shouldn't leave someone behind.
no subject
"Don't worry, go," her voice was strong, confident. She wasn't going to let them win, not anymore. Now was the time to carve her own path... shape her own story.
"This is foolish," Seymour interjected, still with that air of superiority about him, despite his disapproval. "If you fall, you'll die."
Glaring at the maester, Yuna's brow furrowed and she lifted her arm to drag it across her lips, a disgusted noise sounding from her with the gesture, as Seymour smiled smugly, looking on.
"Don't worry," Yuna spoke only to her guardians again, choosing not to respond to Seymour at all, "I can fly..."
no subject
"No..." Her voice was soft as she watched her friend. This can't be the only way? She wanted there to be another way. Her fingers curled into fists and her mind blanked on what to do.

The mage squeezed her eyes shut tighter. No, this wasn't that place -- Kalki wasn't here, the power of the dark crystals wasn't here!
A sharp pain in her side caused her to wince, but she stepped backwards all the same, falling, down... and down...

Rushing to the edge, the blitzer peered over the ledge, the very real distance that was between the altar and the ground starring him in the face. He reached a hand downward as the summoner fell further and further "Yu..."

It was crazy!
Yuffie watched in horror praying that something or someone caught the foolish summoner.

Valefor... Valefor!
Nothing happened. Yuna's descent seemed to gain speed as her heart raced faster. What... what was going on? "Valefor!" she called out loud, her eyes snapping open. No! Why wasn't she answering. "Valefor!" she screamed, her voice, and the desperation in it, surely reaching the high altar.
Panic-stricken, her faith shaken, her wide eyes looked up to catch the two figures looming over the edge. But where she had been certain Rikku had once stood, now there was only... "Yuffie?!" Yuna cried out, just before the gruesome splatter of flesh meeting ground sounded.
Quiet and still now, there was only a twitch from the summoner's body... as a dark red stained the white marble around her.
