Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.
"Kali Shashidhwaja."
Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.
This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Her eyes shifted uncomfortably, dreading what she knew was coming next. This was the only way for all of them to make it out alive, and so... Seymour reached out, framing Yuna's face with his long-nailed fingers as he stepped forward. Leaning in close the maester leaned down, their lips meeting, though Yuna's were pressed hard together...
The altar fell into silence, so quiet the tightening of her hand could be heard as the fabric of her gloves scrunched together... if you were listening closely.

So what now? He might be able to survive a few gunshots with his Magic Guard, but the people with him were a different story. Did it even matter? This was a memory, not reality. These people weren't really there. Getting Yuna through the memory alive took priority. Jade had his spear hidden; if he could just get to one of those important-looking men, he'd have an effective meat shield...
It would have been helpful if the group he had come with had a plan beyond just rushing the altar. As it was, Jade had no choice but to wait for the right moment.

As she stepped back and away from him, she cast the group of guardians a worried look, as the guards around them began to open fire.

The only advantage he had right now was that no one in the memory knew about his spear, merged with his right arm. The plump master was standing close, apparently confident that none of them could draw their weapons quickly enough to harm him.
Time to test that theory, then.
His spear flashed into existence in a blink of an eye, knocking Kinoc's gun out of his hands and pointing at his throat in the same movement. "One shot and he's dead," Jade said sharply. Here's hoping he had guessed correctly that this was someone important enough for the soldiers to hold their fire for.

The foot soldiers halted for the most part, but Seymour remained unimpressed. He cared little for the life in question and didn't seem to care if the disposal happened sooner than later.

With that was his first sour look of his wedding say, Seymour waved off the guards, allowing the group to draw in close to the summoner, finally.

Nevertheless, he followed the others to the altar, where Yuna stood at the very edge of the platform. She had nerve, he had to give her that. "Are you alright?" he asked her, while still keeping a close watch on the maesters.

"Leave now, please," she pleaded, a fist raising to her chest. If they stayed here it would surely lead to their capture... or worse. "Don't worry, go."

No, letting her out of his sight was unacceptable. But he couldn't fight the groom, either -- the force of his fonic artes might push her off the edge. That left only one option.
"Yuna, come here." Jade stepped closer and added quietly, so that the others wouldn't hear, "Trust me."

With her eyes on the party of guardians again, she looked towards Jade fondly, but shook her head. It wasn't that she didn't trust him, trust all of them. It was the opposite, in fact. She knew that her guardians would be able to make it out again, escaping the clutches of the clergymen. She trusted above all else... that they would be able to find her. The ones that knew her best.
"It's all right..." And finally, almost a smile. "I can fly... Believe."
Leaning back into the open air, she clasped her hands together. As if in slow motion, Yuna's feet slipped away from beneath her and she began her descent.

Surprise flashed across Jade's face for a fleeting moment. Then he scowled, whirled around and ushered the rescue party away from the altar while the maesters were still distracted.
Summoner. If the word meant the same thing here as it did in Crystallis, maybe...

The sudden flash of a memory in Kalki's lab broke its way into her mind just then, the image of Bahamut contorting in pain. Yuna's eyes burst open wide, all of the air somehow pushing itself out of her lungs as she locked onto the altar. Instead of the last glimpse she had taken of Auron's coat -- a different man now stood, his long hair looking as though it shone in the afternoon sun as he whirled.
Reaching her hand out and up towards the stranger, the realization that her call for the aeon would go unheard, now that she had betrayed their trust. Her mouth opened to form a scream, to cry out somehow -- just as her body made impact with the ground. A sickening stew of vital fluids coloured the ground below -- and the memory ended with a chorus of wails.

He stopped half-way down the stairs, turned, looked down from the high building just in time to see her plummet to her death, one hand stretched out for help that couldn't reach her.
"No..."
The last thing Jade saw, before the memory vanished around him, was Yuna's body breaking against the ground below with a terrible wet cracking sound, and the white wedding gown soaking up the dark crimson of her blood.
