Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Rikku held her breath as Maduin grew into a full summon, but it did nothing to quell the intense thrumming of her heart. They were in deep, she had fought summons before sure, even before joining as a guardian...but just two of them against one? Besides...hadn't Terra called him Father? Even if they stood a decent chance, the last thing Rikku wanted to do was hurt him! He was probably in a blind rage after what happened!

She rose her pugilist arm and targe, ready to defend herself as best she could, eyeing those deadly claws warily. Rikku was about to call out to the Terra that they should make a dash for it when the woman suddenly stepped before her, and was just as quickly on the ground. The thief let out a frantic cry as her friend fell. Why? Why had she done that?! Rikku could at least try to deflect things!

The alchemist quickly reached into her pouch, whipping together a mix. It was a hazard, normally there were distractions for this. Her shoulders rose up and down with frightened breaths, sure she would feel those claws rake down her any second as well. She was nimble fingered and fast at least, in mere yet precious seconds she whips together her Mix: Hyper Mighty G, tossing it to Terra's prone form. Not looking to see if it lands before she throws herself between the mighty Esper and her friend once more, crouched into a defensive position - for what little time that might buy.

If it hits, the potion should help Terra heal, as well as cast Shell, Protect, and Haste on the half Esper. "Please." She begs not able to look behind her, eyes intent on the mighty summon, "Please be ok, we have to get out of here."

The potion lands on Terra and she slowly feels her wound mend and her head clear. She couldn't believe that it was her father who attacked her. Her hands shook as she curled against the ground trying to get her feet beneath her to stand. There was so much she had wanted to ask him, so much she had wanted to say. She softly whispered Rikku's name her eyes on the young guardian.

She's fighting for me. Terra's eyes look towards the creature who gave her the power that courses through her. Father

That thought triggers it as Maduin's presence washed over Terra. Pain shot through her and she hugged herself praying for the pain to ebb. It didn't. Terra screamed feeling the power within her swell as her fingers slowly began to shape into long purple-ish claws.

Maduin wasn't so interested in Rikku. He didn't see her as a soldier but as a bug, completely harmless to him. It was the woman behind her that he wanted to kill. It was the woman behind her that contained the power to destroy his family and he was going to give everything to protect them.

The young guardian doesn't dare glance back and give the summon an opening to attack when she hears the faint call of her name, "Terra, please run." She can only hope the potion's haste took effect and can aid in the woman's flight. "I'll hold him off and catch up." It wasn't exactly a lie because, she would if she could manage.

At the scream her eyes flicker back, though the thief continues to hold her defensive stance. Seeing Terra transforming, but more so - seeming to be held prisoner by its act, sets the girl in motion. She had not wanted to fight Terra's father, but it's clear Terra isn't running, and the aggressive way he was watching her prone friend... she felt there was no helping it. He might strike any second, and she doubted she could deflect such a direct blow. Better for Rikku to get his attention away from Terra and onto her. So he ignored her, people often underestimated the lithe little thief. It worked to her advantage.

She stealthily reaches into her alchemy pouch, pickpocketing herself so as not to draw the enemy's attention to the motion - she could not mix while fighting, but could use an item. They would not be near as powerful, but could still pack a punch. Retrieving an electric marble, she launches the small object at the creature paying her no heed. If it struck true, it would hit with the effects of a lightning spell. In the same motion the pugilist weaves right, moving to strike with her clawed fist around where she estimates the Esper's Achilles tendon should be so it should land just after the spell. So help her - why did it have to be a lightning item she first grasped? No matter.

Little, quick and deadly. The little rouge fought dirty when she was grossly outmatched. She was not about to just stand by while her friend was hurt.

Lighting didn't effect Maduin much but it was enough of a jolt to bring his eyes away from Terra and onto Rikku. He caught her attack with the palm of his claw, heedless to the pain that it caused him. His powerful hand wrapped around Rikku's arm and then pulled sending the young thief up into the air. When he released her his hand was bleeding profusely but he didn't care. He licked up the blood to close the wound and then brought his attention back towards Terra.

The Empire soldiers around him began firing which pulled his attention from the young Esper and onto the onslaught of bullets. Each shot bit into his skin but with a flick of his tail they were gone as well. Each attack was hurting him and it was obvious but the monster was still going strong.

The transformation surrounded Terra and she felt her bones shift and her muscles fluctuate. It hurt, it hurt more than her chilling screams could deny but as quickly as the transformation began it was over. In Terra's place was a monster. Her body covered in fur with magic pulsing through her like blood. Bright red eyes locked on the figure of Rikku that was sent into the air. She jumped from the ground wrapping her arms around Rikku before landing out of reach of Maduin's attacks. Once they were grounded Terra almost fell over again. She had no control of her powers which now pulsed and begged for a way to be released. She never learned to control it.

She feels the hot rush of his blood coat her hand when he snatches her. Just as suddenly, a swell of panic rises in her as the girl is flung into the air like a ragdoll. "Aah!" Twisting as she flies, the thief tries to gain some semblance of control for whatever impact awaits her. Instead she finds herself looking up into bright red eyes as the Esper catches her.

How had...it seemed like she she had not even been able to touch Maudin?! Rikku was fast, she'd never been so outdone. It was like being a child again, fighting Brother. Espers here, surely they weren't invincible? When they land, the crimson blood dripping from her arched claws to the floor proves otherwise. Even still, she hadn't made a notch. Was this the power the Aeon's would have, had they not been slowed by the human hands that summoned and controlled them? Did it add some human element of error and delay? She didn't think so...she heard the soldiers machina and yet he was still going. It seemed more like when a fiend was in overdrive, becoming many times their strength. She'd never heard of an Aeon going into overdrive before. How terrifying. Yet the young thief did not know who posed a greater threat, the Esper was aggressive - but the soldiers were cruel.

"Terra." She rights herself once they land, crouching beside the former green haired woman. Her hand, the one not covered in gore and blood, goes to the summon's shoulder to help support her. Rikku does not understand what her friend is fighting, but it was easy to see she was struggling. The guardian shows no fear or hesitancy at the woman's changed form, there's not an ounce of her that believes Terra would ever hurt her. "It's gonna be alright. Hang in there. You'll make it through this."

Terra wanted to say something to Rikku but her words were lost the moment she transformed. She was able to help the girl but she wasn’t able to do more. Her claw dug into her shoulder making bright crimson droplets trail down her arm. It helped clear her head but she wasn’t able to say more to the guardian.

Her bright red gaze looked back at Maduin. Rikku’s attack had hurt it but it was the soldiers around him that were doing most of the damage. Terra knew, even in this form, she couldn’t hurt her father. She didn’t know him but she loved him. She didn’t want to fight. Her tongue flicked along her upper lip tasting the copper scent of blood in the air as bullets and missiles were fired at the dangerous creature in front of them. Maduin roared and Terra felt herself tense under the power in his voice.

“R-run…” Her eyes looked back towards Rikku. She knew what would happen because this had already happened before.

Maduin was distracted and Terra didn’t look like she could move as she fought the beast inside of her. She wanted to fly away and run but she couldn’t leave Rikku either. They’d both run or they’d both die.

There's a gasp as the thief tries to pull Terra's claws away from where the Esper gorges into herself, heedless now of the stain that coats the weapon at Rikku's armed hand, blood of father and daughter combine, "What are you doing?! Don't!"

At the deep resonance of the roar the guardian instinctively hunches closer to her friend, as if her small frame might offer some form of protection to Terra from whatever may be coming. She doesn't know, having not been a part of the memory, but any warrior worth their weight could sense there was something coming in that sound, feel the unsettling charge in the air.

"Only if you run too." Her lips press together firmly, clover eyes meet crimson with a fierce resolve. "I'm not leaving you behind." Rikku would piggyback or drag Terra if she had to, but she was not going to abandon her friend, her expression makes it crystal clear the thief will not budge on this.

The guardian wraps her arms around the woman so many would consider a monster. Mindlessly maneuvering her wicked claw, she's so used to the weapon being a part of her - so it stays clear of doing harm. For the briefest moment she gives a squeeze, an encouraging, stolen hug - then she tries to haul the unsteady Esper up to her feet, "come on Terra." She's surprisingly strong given her small size, but then she's always been athletic and muscular - the adrenaline is a big plus.

Terra couldn't say anything more. She felt her power draining as quickly as it spiked. She was fighting with herself to take control and it was leaving her weaker than normal. She nodded to Rikku letting the girl pull her to her now clawed feet. She looked away from her father not wanting to see the monster that only sought to end her life. She wouldn't ever get to speak with him and she knew that now. She would have to accept that.

She fell against Rikku as pain shot through her body again. Bit by bit she transformed back into the delicate green haired girl that Rikku had met that day in the flower shop. Her arm was still bleed and the claw marks looked deeper as crimson droplets continued to flow down her arm.

"R-rikku..." Her voice was soft as she tried to steady herself. She felt dizzy and she wasn't sure if it was because of her transformation or something else. This was her memory and her world but she knew nothing about it or how it might effect her.

She recalled their first meeting, when Terra had asked what having a father was like with timid curiosity. To think, that innocent curiosity had met with this. Attacked by your own father, then watch as he's merciless attacked by the onslaught of soldiers. Rikku winced at the screech of his talons on the floor. If only, she'd been able to reach through to the man, they should both be protecting her. It wasn't fair. Sorry. I know you don't mean it. I'll keep her safe.

Rikku keeps a tight hold on Terra as the summon devolves. When she's back to the woman she first met, the thief assess the shoulder injury with concern. Fingers darting to her alchemy bag only for her to grimace with irritation. The girl has been through several memories by now. She used her last potion in the previous mix. No time to waste though, her eyes dart about for any oncoming danger. Hoping the soldiers were too occupied by Terra's father to notice the less dangerous Esper, as she moves to place herself under Terra's good shoulder, careful to continue holding her friend upright. "Hey flower girl, come on now."

Wrapping an arm behind Terra's back, Rikku starts moving them forwards. Even if the green haired woman can do nothing more than stumble, the guardian will be half carrying her. "Let's get out of here."

Terra's vision was slowly fading. It was hard for her to keep her eyes open even as Rikku slipped under her shoulder. She knew what was happened but she felt her heart ache knowing that she would never get a chance to meet her father. Her breath was slow and steady as she hid behind a curtain of green hair.

She didn't want Rikku to see her like this.

Terra looked up at Rikku her eyes still glowing a bright almost startling blue. "I-" Her voice was cut off as darkness surrounded them. They were separated and then sent into new memories.
