Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.
"Kali Shashidhwaja."
Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.
This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Re: Let us start in the beginning!
And perhaps moreso as she touched down on the ground, standing proudly and utterly unfazed by their efforts to stop them at this point. It was only Taz herself that stopped her from totally wiping them from the battle field, and off into some other county as their carried on the wind.
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
Tazendra nodded to them. Last time, she'd come with Khaavren to arrest Prince Adron. Here... well, she wasn't exactly an enemy. She'd acted in self-defense. Perhaps she should have made signs she wanted to parley. Well, too late now. "We bring a message for Prince Adron." How much time did they have left? Should she just charge in? She recalled these guards would be killed by her past self and that of her friends.
The guards exchanged a look. On the one hand, these were obviously two sorceresses. On the other, Tazendra's House was clearly visible, even if there was some doubt if her companion was even human. A Dzurlord had all the deceptive ability of a sack of stones. The first guard spoke. "Identify yourselves, sheathe your weapons, and give your parole, and we will see if His Highness can be interrupted."
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
As for identifying. "I'm not of your world. I am Valvalis, Elemental Lord of Wind, and I come at behest of my companion. So show your respect."
As much as she can be angry and authoritative, were those the right words for the act?
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
"Bah," Tazendra said. "This is taking too long. Valvalis, if you could clear these two from the area..."
She suspects the two are expecting they will attack, and not anticipate a less violent attempt. And wind could launch someone a long way...
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
"Like so?" she says, falling in step behind the Baroness.
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
There was a man crouched there, fair of skin and hair, but still having the height that marked Tazendra's people. His hands were positioned over a collection of blue-purple opalescent stones; both he and the stones were glowing and he was deep enough in concentration that he had not registered the intrusion.
Tazendra looked them over. She'd learned a lot in the hundreds of years since first seeing Lord Adron work Elder Sorcery. The spell was quite advanced, but she couldn't yet tell if it was finished. "Your Highness! You must stop this at once!"
He looked up, his eyes almost seeming to be glowing with the same light. "I'm sorry. You are too late. The spell has just taken effect." He seemed relaxed. Perhaps a little smug, but like he was trying to downplay it.
Behind Tazendra and Valvalis, the arrival of another party was evident.
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
Well, it could but it would still take the tent with it as a consequence. "Do you mind, we're having a private conversation here." she huffs as she steps up towards the invading party.
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
"Bah," the present Tazendra said. "There is no time for that, Khaavren." She looked at Adron. "You must end the spell quickly."
"Even if I wished to, which I do not, it is beyond my control," Adron said.
Valvalis might not sense it, and the three men with the past Tazendra certainly didn't, but both versions of Tazendra and Adron startle. "What was that?" the two phantoms of the past said, with Adron adding, "It was not of my doing."
Present Tazendra looked down. "We are now decidedly too late."
[OOC: I'd say one more comment of plot is in this memory before it loops, but Val is free to ask what the hell.]
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
"So... what is it we should prepare for. There's chance for the two of us to escape, is there not?"
Re: Let us start in the beginning!
Adron had left them for the moment, his head bowed as if he'd realized exactly what was about to happen. He'd drawn the few people he could together -- really, only the people Valvalis had knocked down, including Tazendra's past self. He beckoned the current Tazendra and Valvalis over. "Take hands, all of you, if you value your lives."
The glow was getting bright enough to blind, and the ambient power around clear enough to sense.
After everyone was in place... Adron looked at them all one last time. "Farewell. And, don't tell them I meant well."
* * *
the teleport was disorienting enough to knock most people on their backs, but Tazendra was up right away. Because even before she opened her eyes, she knew that events hadn't continued. It was morning, they were back to the hill she arrived at, the armies were preparing to fight, her past self was dismounting some distance away, and she could feel the Orb humming along in her mind as if it wasn't about to be ripped out of the universe to save it.
"Blood of the Horse. This is the same place we were but an hour ago, and at the same time."
She didn't understand what was going on here. Though, perhaps revisiting her own past twice wasn't that much stranger than once. "Valvalis? Are you present?"
And now we're at the end!♥
Well, no matter...
---
Because she was awake now. Awake in her bed, looking about as though expecting it to be part of a dream. She'd left Tazendra behind in her own dream.
