Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Morgan nodded at Robin before turning to respond to Chrom.

"I've got you covered Fa--" Morgan paused awkwardly, "Fantastic Leader!" He hadn't been very careful when he was speaking, and the word had almost slipped out. But he'd managed to catch himself, the king of telling convincing lies that he was.

Thankfully, Morgan hoped that the Risen would prove a suitable distraction for keeping Mother from noticing his strange behavior. Speaking of which, he should probably do something about that. Chanting a few lines from his tome, he sends a line of fire towards the Risen flanking Chrom's left, before sending an identical spell towards the monsters on Robin's right.

Chrom gave Morgan that confused look that he wore so well. "F-Fantastic Leader?" he asked, with a briefly confused look. "Um--thank you?"

The prince's hesitation did not extend to battle, though, and he focused on the important thing. He belted away from the Risen that Morgan blasted down, fire ripping into their ranks. Then he went for one on the other side -- and stabbed Falchion clean through one, before he twisted hard, and tore it out of the side.

Robin flashed a quick grin at Morgan. Maybe he was flustered to see Chrom? (She might be a little oblivious to the obvious.) She turned, though, ready to shoot the Risen that came from her right -- but Morgan's spell handled it. It burst into flame, then smoke and ash in front of her. She fired a bolt of lightning threw it, shredding into another Risen.

"Watch out!" she cried out, though; one Risen broke through the ranks to rush for Morgan.

Morgan relaxes as he smiles back at Robin; that had gone rather smoothly. Neither of them expected anything.

He switches his focus back to the battle in front of him; everything seemed clear for the advance but...what was that Mother was shouting? "Watch Out?"

It's not long before he sees what she's warning for; one of the Risen was rushing at him from his blind spot. The Risen was coming pretty quickly too, and it was unlikely he'd be able to get off a spell in time to stop it. Of course, a master tactician always has a spare trick up his sleeve!

"Checkmate!" he calls out as he switches for a sword and blocks the Risen's strike. At least, it would be a checkmate if he could manage to actually do any damage with the sword. For now he's just kind of awkwardly blocking the Risen's advance.

Robin heard the clang of steel upon steel, where Morgan's sword blocked the blow of the Risen's axe. She whirled, then, and held a hand out towards the Risen. Lightning danced across her palm.

"We can do it!" she called back.

Then she cast Thoron. The beam of lightning shot off her hand, piercing through the chest of the Risen as it was locked into a parry with Morgan. The blast shredded through it -- and it slammed down into the ground, before bursting apart into so much ash and smoke. Robin looked down at it, then up at Morgan.

"You okay?" she asked, smiling. "That was closer than I'd like."

Morgan nods in response, "Thanks!"

"And I'm okay. I've yet to meet a Risen I can't handle." Despite his response, that last encounter had been a little too close for comfort for him as well. If nothing else, it reminded him that he should probably start taking his sword training a little more seriously.

But, that day was not today, and so he switches his sword back out for a rather powerful tome before motioning towards the remaining Risen.

"Shall we continue?"

"Let's!" Robin replied. She turned, eyeing one of them, and lifted her hand. Another blast of thunder shot off it; this time, the beam of Thoron took the Risen's head off. It crumpled, then, to its feet.

Then to dust.

This, unfortunately, began to draw Validar's attention. The sorcerer eyed the mother and son; then he lifted his hand into the air. Shadow began to swirl and gather around his outstretched hands.

After sending a plume of fire towards another Risen, Morgan catches sight of Validar gathering power. Uh-uh, not happening.

"Not on my watch!" Morgan calls out before casting Arcfire. Was it going to defeat Validar? Almost definitely not. Was it going to stop him from casting? Probably, and that's what Morgan cared about.

"Gh--you!" Validar spat, as the Arcfire rushed him. It caught his cloak and robe, which ignited for a moment -- but his magical defenses winked the flame out a moment. The sorcerer stumbled, though, with the powerful spell that he prepared being interrupted and lost. "Don't think your efforts will matter here, boy! This future is written in stone, as decreed!"

Robin swung her hand out, to point at Validar. She loosed yet another bolt of Thoron. The beam hurtled, but caught him only in the shoulder -- and darkness spider webbed ouyt where it struck, as he defended against it.

Validar thrust his hand forward, throwing a smaller bolt of darkness in Morgan's direction.

Even though he wasn't the most nimble person in the army, Morgan was still able to step out of the way in time. Being observant certainly had its advantages.

"No way! We'll challenge our fate!" Maybe he was stealing his sister's catchphrase here, but it was pretty fitting. And it helped psyche him up as he prepared another spell. Unfortunately, this one was a little more powerful, so he'd need a little time to gather energy.

Robin saw that Morgan was preparing a more powerful spell. That meant that she needed to get his attention quickly. She decided that more spells, instead of more spellpower, was the reason. She pulled a new tome from her things. This one was bound in dyed green leather.

Then, she threw her hand out again -- and again. Two blades of wind fired towards Validar. The first knocked him back, but he smashed the second aside with a bolt of darkness.

"Your determination will amount to nothing!" he snarled to Morgan's sentiments. Then, he summoned another bolt of darkness, and loosed it for Robin. It struck her hard, throwing her across the battlefield. She flew, slamming back into a wall. The sorcerer, however, was momentarily distracted with her.

It takes every bit of Morgan's focus not to call out when Robin flies back. Even though he trusted that his mother was strong enough to be okay, it still didn't stop him from worrying. But if he wanted to get off this spell, he couldn't lose focus.

Thankfully, Robin's distraction provides him just enough time to gather energy. He didn't care what Validar said, they'd be able to carve their own future. With Mother's power, he believed in at least that much.

"Checkmate!" Morgan calls out as he unleashes a rather powerful Valflame spell. The sorcerer was definitely going to have a hard time walking that one off.

The huge gout of flame slammed into Validar hard. The sorcerer screamed, stumbling backward, but the fires caught him -- and hurled him. He flew back into another wall, then crumpled down into a fiery heap. He wasn't getting back up.

Robin rose, slowly, with a groan. She stared down at Validar -- and then looked at Morgan. She smiled, then.

"Well done."
