Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.
"Kali Shashidhwaja."
Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.
This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Crystal Before Becoming A Hero of Light - Link's Memory: Passive
when she met up with Link in again he didn't know. He hadn't made it this far in his journey. She felt tears in her eyes as she watched the proceedings. She couldn't tell if the Link in front of her was the same man she lived with in Crystallis. She wanted to reach forward, to say something but she knew that there wasn't anything that could change the truth.
This was her tomb until he woke her up.
Her palms covered her eyes to stop her tears from falling. She didn't want Link to see this. Not yet. They were finally able to be happy.
"I'm so sorry Link. I'm sorry for everything that I've done to you and I'm sorry for pretending that everything was okay."
All that time in Crystallis she could have told him the truth but she needed him to move forward. She needed him to follow her, come save her and be used by her. It was a secret she had kept with her all this time and even now the pain in her chest felt new.
It was what she had to do. She had to stop the darkness.
Re: Crystal Before Becoming A Hero of Light - Link's Memory: Passive
The Knight's face is a mixture of confusion and sorrow, painted with layers of emotions, all crafted from the reveal of a memory he had never known before. The feelings were real, the contact and the questions still lingering in either lobe of his mind as he tries to make sense of what had just transpired. When he's fully turned around, he spots her, staring at her with a gaze that begs response.
So often he'd remained silent, without words or opinion for what was coming towards his direction. There's little he can think to say, and so his eyes beg for some sort of answer, some sort of explanation that could give reason to what he'd just witnessed. He knows that she must have seen it, that she must have heard and experienced it just as he had.
He brings a hand up to his forehead, his legs feeling weaker and weaker with every passing second until they become like overcooked noodles. He drops to his knees, catching himself with his other hand as he finally realizes that there are tears swelling in his eyes.
Crystal Before Becoming A Hero of Light - Link's Memory: Passive
Tears gathered at the corner of her eyes as her fingers covered her lips. She slowly shook her head praying for it to end. As the scene faded it was Link, her and darkness. There was no where for her to hide.
She had known. This whole time she knew what their fate had been but she had only wanted to be happy. It was so selfish. She wanted to be with Link and forget about the pain she had caused him. It hurt and for as much as she wanted to reach out to him she couldn't bare it. She couldn't bear the pain she had caused him. Her eyes followed him to the ground and she found she had no words of comfort.
Zelda slowly shook her head, her voice soft as she spoke. "I knew... I knew the whole time." For the last 10 months she had lied to him. "I used you." Her tears spilled from her eyes staining her cheeks.

He cautiously picks himself up, looking at his hands as if they'd touched something beyond the plane of form and spirit.
".. Why?"
He lifts his head up, looking at the Goddess as the tears on his cheeks remain fresh.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Crystal Before Becoming A Hero of Light - Link's Memory: Passive
"I knew that you would do anything, even become a hero, to save me." Zelda knew that he would come for her, be it love or something deeper, they had a connection. He would always be her hero and she would always choose him for that role. After meeting Midna and Hilda she knew that a goddess would always call to her hero.
This Link was her hero and even though Zelda wanted them to be able to return home, she couldn't abandon her quest. "It was my duty. To save the planet. You had to become a hero Link." How many times had she told herself that? How many times had she repeated those words in her mind?
She knew that she might never wake up and yet she pretended that everything was okay.
Re: Crystal Before Becoming A Hero of Light - Link's Memory: Passive
"It was your duty?! It was your duty to keep this from me?!"
In frantic haste, Link undoes the scabbard which holds the blessed blade to his person, almost ripping the bindings that hold the belt together. With his arms held up, he pushes the blade out and throws it to the ground. It skids across the ground, coming to a halt a foot or so away from Zelda's feet.
"We tell each other EVERYTHING, Zelda.. If you knew this already-.. If you knew this when we arrived here.."
His arms come down to his sides, fists clenching tightly as the gloves he wears creak from the tension and pressure.
"I don't fight because you're a Goddess. I don't follow you because you're some divine power. I'm here because you're my friend, my precious Zelda, the woman I love! You said as much in that.. that vision! Maybe I was sent here to.. to be the one to wake you up? No, I know I was."
He raises a single hand, pointing it to the sword that now lies on the ground.
"I'm not a Hero because of fate or destiny. None of that matters to me. What matters to me is you, and I can't carry something like this without knowing that you will always tell me everything, especially when it is about us. Goddess or not, hero or not, I love you.. and I need for us to be honest with one another. If this.. this memory or whatever this vision was is back from our own world, without the weight of what we've gone through here, then you can understand why this makes me angry here. Here, in this world, with how we now feel about one another."

"I didn't..." Her words stuck in her throat. She hadn't thought he would come unless there was a prize waiting for him. They grew up together and while her affection for him was obvious to her father, she was sure that Link had never known. Would Link really had done something for her if only because she asked? This Link, the Link from Crystallis, would but then when would she be able to tell him? There were so many chances she didn't take.
Her gaze falls from her hero down to the sword laying in front of her. She slowly bent forward reaching for the sheath as tears dripped over the legendary sword. She gathered it in her arms like a child, rising up to look at Link.
"You were always my hero. I thought that keeping it secret was the only way. I couldn't... I'm sorry." She clung to the sword as if it held the memories and purpose that she was given the day she was kidnapped from Skyloft. Since that day she has wanted nothing more than to be by Link's side again but they had to save the world. She had to save the people she loved.
Re: Crystal Before Becoming A Hero of Light - Link's Memory: Passive
With a deep breath, he lifts a single arm out to the sorrowful girl at the bottom of the stairs. There had been a moment in his memory where it was Zelda reaching out to him. Perhaps it was his time to be proactive, to no longer be the boy who overslept, to not be a hero simply by destiny's whim, but by choice.
Fingers uncurl as he holds his hand out slowly, lifting his head up so that the soft, somewhat strained smile upon his lips can be seen.
"Zelda.. I don't ever want to leave your side. But.. We're in this together. Goddess, Demise, or not. We're a pair, and there's no point going on if I'm not doing this with you. I need you to promise, from here on out, that you'll tell me everything. I don't want to be in the dark any more. So please, like you used to, bring light to my life so that I never need to know the dark."
Crystal Before Becoming A Hero of Light - Link's Memory: Passive
She had known and she had remained silent.
They had slowly gotten close, with the help of a friend, and she found that she didn’t want him to ever leave her side. She didn’t want to have to be strong and she didn’t want to go to sleep. She was scared of the stasis and of the crystal that would encase her body the moment they returned to their world. All this time she had fought her fears keeping the uneasiness at bay; she had only thought of Link. With him nearby she felt as if she could overcome anything.
When he spoke her name she felt her eyes look up at his out stretched hand. Her heart hammer in her chest as fresh tears fell from the corner of her eyes unhindered. He was reaching out to her. She hastily wiped at her eyes trying to stop the tears that soon turned into tears of happiness. She felt a weight lift from her heart and shoulders as she slowly reached out towards her hero.
“I promise… Link.” She paused, her hand on the sword clutching the sheath a little tighter. “I don’t want to ever leave your side.”
It was more than goddess and hero. She loved him and she’s known that even before the memories of her past life had returned. There was nothing that would change that fact.
