Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Yuffie’s Memory: Passive

The SOLDIERS didn’t appear to see Cloud. They shot their guns and the bullets pass through Cloud like he wasn’t even there. Behind him he’d hear the sound of their projectiles hitting its target but when he turned to look he will see a woman protecting the young child.

Yuffie was watching Cloud from a shadow feeling her limbs shake as her mother dies… again.

Fool.

The scene continues but this time from the beginning with the young girl running from the manor, the man shouting after his princess, the SOLDIERS moving forward, the shots firing and then the woman protecting her daughter.

Maybe he is a fool. Nothing he does can stop the loop but it doesn't stop Cloud from trying. He continues to do everything he can to try to change the scene, whether trying to interfere with the soldiers or trying to stop young Yuffie from running out.

In the end he simply collapses in his own exhaustion, forced to watch it play out again on its own.

Yuffie’s Memory: Passive

"JUST STOP IT!"

Yuffie couldn't stop herself from shouting though her voice sounded weak and frail even at the loud volume. Her arms hugged her torso tightly as her gaze fixated on the familiar spiky haired SOLDIER.

"just stop it..." Her voice was soft her head shaking to either side as she stole Clouds attention. She wanted it to end but there was nothing that Cloud could do to stop it.

Cloud glanced up from his position on the ground. It was the first time he became aware of the older Yuffie in all of this. For lack of a wound on him he seemed exhausted. He ran himself ragged trying to change this image and now he was so out of breath he couldn't move.

His eye settled on Yuffie and his lips pursed in whispered words. "I'm...sorry..." He pushed himself to his knees, ignoring the burning of his taxed muscles.

"Yuffie. This isn't your fault. It's ShinRa's. Not just for invading, but for convincing kids like me there was some glory in all of this. For making us fight and die and kill for their greed."

Yuffie’s Memory: Passive

Yuffie just shook her head feeling the weight of the scene on her shoulders. It was war and in war there was always a side invading the other. Wutai should have been able to protect itself and Yuffie should have know not to run outside.

Her gaze was cast down and her fingers balled into fists. "I was born into a country at war. Mom used to tell me that she was so happy. I was like a ray of sunshine for the future but all I did was cause another death." Her voice was soft, shaking as she tried to fight the tears.

Cloud watched Yuffie, listened to her words and the way her voice wavered. Part of him wanted to give her a hug but he wasn't sure if it would be welcome or simply too much forced sympathy for the independent young girl. Still, he sat by her, not leaving. He'd be by her side at the least.

"Still...I'm sorry." There was nothing more he could say. To tell her that it wasn't her fault would just be a rude lie. To tell her everything would be okay would be to say things he couldn't promise. Being a silent shoulder was the best he could do.

Yuffie’s Memory: Passive

Yuffie leaned against him after awhile smelling the scent she had come to associate with Cloud. There was a long pause and then the young ninja began to cry. True, she was older than Cloud now, but for the moment she pretended it was the Cloud that she knew. The Cloud that was her friend and had fought against ShinRa with her.

She didn't say anything for a long time letting the scene play as tears fell from her eyes.

Cloud kept there, a quiet pillar for her. The memory carried on around them like a television left on and unattended. Cloud had every intent to let her take all the time she needed, but after a few loops he felt like staying there any longer wouldn't truly be of any help.

He placed a gentle but steady hand on her shoulder, "Come on. Let's get out of here."

Yuffie snuffled looking up at him. "How?" Her palms pressed against her cheeks as she tried to wipe away the tears. Even as she asked the scene faded to black and the pair were separated in the mass of memories.

Whatever Cloud did, it ended Yuffie's nightmare.
