Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

Cloud held fast for a moment as he caught Auron's nod. He looked back to the troops as they milled about. The risks were high but the chance was there. He waited for them to be far apart and concerned with finding their positions once more. Waited until their guard was down.

And then he darted forward, rushing the alter with his weapon away. He needed speed and he needed to be there. This wasn't an attack on Seymore. Concern for Yuna was what was fueling Cloud's steps.

Seymour's foul tasting words brought back the immediate memory of his lips pressed against hers, prompting Yuna to wipe at her mouth with the length of her arm. There was a soft "Ungh," that she voiced with obvious disgust.

Seymour, for his part, seemed almost delighted by the action.

But when Cloud rushed forwards over to where she stood, the look in her eye reflected something different entirely. Regret, worry... admiration. The idea of what the blond blitzer must have thought of her now, well...

"Don't worry..." her words were soft and gentle, as though the two of them were the only ones there at all. "I can fly."

At her words, Cloud's eyes shifted from here to the parapet behind her and then back to the summoner. He didn't fully comprehend, but he understood enough. "No...come on, we can fight our way out of this. We can find a way." He glanced back at the guards closing in but he still held out a hand to her. If she got down, if they went back to back, they could find something.

Through it all, hearing that, hearing him say that, it made her happy. There wasn't another way out, the Maesters would never let her escape their grasp but now -- it was time for desperate measures. She wanted more than anything to reach out and take the hand that he offered, gazing at him fondly, the mixed up colours glistening as she nodded. "Believe."

If she removed herself, they would be able to flee. It was just as he'd said -- they would find a way, yes.

Along with the rest of the guardians, with nothing stopping him now, Wakka rushed up towards the edge of the altar, looking down, gritting his teeth as Yuna fell too far from their grasp. The lined up with Cloud, all of them getting a view off the ledge, anxiety thick in the air.

Cloud thought he'd talked he down. He thought he'd given her a bit of hope. He didn't know what they'd do but he didn't want her to do what she was planning above all else. Even if it was a hopeless fight it was better than just giving up.

And then she dropped out of his sight.

His body slammed into the edge of the ledge, his body moving before he even had time to think about it at all. He was half leaning over the edge, one of the others holding onto him to make sure he didn't fall as he reached out to the falling Summoner.

"YUNA!"

From the moment she'd stepped off, Yuna closed her eyes. Her hands were clasped in front of her in prayer -- all she had to do was summon. All she had to do was call for Valefor and she would come. The pact that she had made with the fayth, after all this time, still held true. She had promised never to use their power in vain, never to --

A horrific cry intruded into her thoughts, then. The twisted, agonizing cry of Bahamut when she had summoned him in Kalki's lab. The pain he had suffered, because of her.

As though suddenly she couldn't breathe, Yuna's eyes shot open, wide and panicked. She couldn't do that again! Not to their aeons -- not to her friends! She felt as though she was choking, one hand reaching for her throat as she looked above at her guardians, at him. Only... it wasn't him anymore.

Outstretching her other arm, her fingers spread out, grasping upwards helplessly in the air between them as her voice finally cracked through. "Cl--"

Thwack went her body against the hard stone ground, as all around her still form a dark puddle formed, growing wider and wider, as the memory ended with a loud, horrifying scream in Cloud's ear.
