Let's talk about those past few days
Characters: Barkeep and all Heroes
Where: Observatory
When: June 1st
Summary: All Heroes are invited to visit Barkeep, have a drink, and talk about the past few days.
Warning: Alcohol, lots of angsting over the last event.
He was looking forward to opening The Space Saloon in a few days, but with the sudden disappearance of almost all the Heroes, his priorities shifted away from organizing the Grand Opening. He may not like living in Crystallis, but the Heroes were his neighbors. They all lived in the same area, which he might as well consider his new place, and they were part of it. Any trouble concerning them deserved his concern.
He was surprised the previous day, when he had gone outside and seen the housing district filled with people again. They looked as if they'd had an exhausting adventure--and he was glad he swore off them long ago--and weren't too willing to talk about it. There was a solution for both things.
The evening of the 31st, he had Annie post a note on each house's door:
To all Heroes of Light:
We invite you to the Observatory on the 1st of June for a chance to relax and chat. Alcoholic drinks and snacks will be served, while juice and milk will be available on tap. Proof of age may be requested.
Be advised that all weapons must be put away in the designated storage room.
The Meeting Room
Several folding tables were arranged throughout the room, each with eight chairs. The sturdiest one was moved to a corner of the room, where the Barkeep stood. He brought in his entire personal alcohol cabinet and several glasses and mugs he bought for his business, all which would be put to better use today.
On other tables, containers of juice and milk were available to those unable to legally consume alcohol. Small cakes and snack were there as well, as well as a pot of thick potato soup, though it was beginning to get cold, as the Barkeep had no method of heating it himself.
"Afternoon," he greeted each newcomer. "What've you been up to lately?"
[OOC: Feel free to make starters and reply to others. Barkeep is likely to join conversations held by the bar.]

[ah. But that story… She quiets down again, ears twitched back for a moment.]
I'm sorry to hear that. What… what happened?
no subject
[And then Croach was fully back from the dead, so...it was all for the better.]
First thing I did with my new space powers was save Sparks and Red from an alternate dimension and fix up my saloon. I've been usin' it mostly for little things; can't risk unravelin' the fabric of the universe by usin' the Force Galactic to do everythin'.
no subject
Then it ended well enough. [a small nod at the last.] When you say an alternate dimension…
no subject
[He shows no signs of pity for V'Stalu, who he barely knew and was detrimental to the entire mission by his "watch, don't participate" philosophy.]
I mean alternate dimension. V'Stalu tried to get them to stop evil future Jim before comin' to us.
no subject
[curious. She's no fondness for possession, given her experience with Ascians, but she'd half-thought V'Stalu would have been a friend of sorts, to give Barkeep those powers…]
I… see. [she thinks. maybe.] They kept him occupied?
no subject
[On a distant planet, in another universe, Croach feels the need to shout "I still feel pain!" defensively for some reason.]
Sparks and Red are the go-to humans on Mars when you need a-savin'. Makes sense V'Stalu would round them up first before gettin' a new team. [Cosmic beings are not friends with mortals, but they give out powers when they deem it necessary. Barkeep's gift was one of convenience.] Keward, Pemily, and Chicky Sullivan did some fightin' til they died, but it gave me enough time to figure our that the situation needed drastic action.
[In truth, he spent the majority of the battle hiding behind Croach-V'Stalu and whining why a mere small business owner was brought into a dangerous situation.]
no subject
I suppose so. [two people for an entire world, though? It'd explain a little about Sparks, at least.] Other friends?
[it does sound a little as though that call could have been made earlier- but it's hardly as though it was her call.]
Was that when you separated his sides, then?
no subject
[He doesn't understand K'pandolu's shock. After all, these sorts of occurrences aren't uncommon on Mars, though when he thinks about it, he's most likely desensitized to this sort of thing after all the trouble in his place and seeing a handful of people die before that.
...That's kind of creepy to think about so let's focus on another topic.]
Keward's from the military, Sullivan's a cyborg, and Pemily's young, but she won Punishment Soccer. That made them much more qualified to fight a giant robot than I was.
no subject
…are you sure Mars is actually any more together than Eorzea.]
A cyborg? Perhaps… It took our entire team to bring down the Rubicantus model. Where did that robot come from? [all these elements… she's starting to lose track.]
no subject
The what model? [He tilts his head. Was there a giant robot in Crystallis he wasn't aware of?]
Jim's robot suit turned into a giant robot.
no subject
It did!? Incredible… [admittedly, now she's imagining a colossus engulfing a person. It's a little terrifying.]
no subject
Modern technology, that's what. Even in my time, that's impressive stuff.
[He straightens his back and view the room one last time. A few other Heroes are beginning to enter, and he has to get back into position to serve them elixirs that will soothe their troubled souls.]
Thanks for all the help you did. Anythin' in particular you'd like me to mix for you, if you're of drinkin' age in Aqures Ixen?
