Aerial Attack

[It's not enough. Two of the ships got away, and the one they managed to shoot down hasn't given up, as seen by its changing course to ram into the castle. The gunners on deck above race across the floors and they refill their weapons, and with the adrenaline of the recent battle, the world feels like it's falling into chaos. Horrible, unwanted chaos.

He throws his Scholar Robes across the room. It's too hot in here; can't think straight. That ship is going to destroy one of the most vital buildings in Aqures Ixen, and without it, the city will fall. The only choice is to shoot it in another direction.

The crew has the same idea, and they open fire. It's barely enough to blow it away. Instead, it curves northwards and downward, dangerously quickly. At this rate, it'll destroy every airship dock in the city at landing.

Castle...or the beloved 12th District. Ales grips onto the steering wheel as he pursues the ship. Maybe...if he provided more power and got closer...]

[It's been a long night but the first of Esdham's airships which came to assist Ales has managed to stay supporting him throughout, if only with sparing pot-shots at the same enemy airship.

Now said vessel starts to billow smoke more dangerously from it's one side in the moments before it starts to veer downwards on a collision course-

The Esdham airship cannot afford to follow Ales' there, it's much too risky and what if-

A heavy silence envelops those on the bridge of the Esdham airship as Ales' intention becomes clear.]

[Maybe if he got someone to board the ship and steer it away...No. They'd need every soldier left to even reach the pilot's cabin. And by then it would be too late.

The Imperial ship continues its dangerous descent, its crew prepared to die for the Empires. Brave souls, all of them. Ales has to admit that much. Using the rest of their lives to deliver a crushing blow to the city was a stupid, though noble move. This Hero wasn't one to throw his life away like that. Sure, using his own ship to push the other off-course would work, but he'd die in the process-

Wait.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his spherical crystal. He can come back to life. He'll still have a chance to build the greatest flying machines Crystallis has ever seen. He'd do a good deed for the city and be remembered as a hero who made a difficult decision.

The crew won't survive, of course, but what did they expect, getting involved in a war? What was a ship of fighters compared to the fate of the world?

Ales turns the speed to a higher setting, jumps off his chair, and scampers to the door, bolting it shut. He needs his space to focus.]

[Tactically speaking, losing the 12th District may yet have to be a sacrifice made if they were to safeguard the rest of the City but considering the army has spent the time since the battle started sweeping the district and forcing ground troops toward the 13th it would be a sore loss indeed. Not to mention the 1st District which would then be laid bare to any further advance...and the ground bases would be effectively cut off from each other.

But an airship ploughing into the side of the Castle was not an option, either. It'd be like impaling the heart of Aqures Ixen at this point. The destruction and the chaos that followed it would be pandemonium.

There isn't any time for a choice to be made though which is why the Esdham ship has to veer hard up and away from Ales' flight path as the smaller craft picks up speed. The bridge has to be turned away due to the maneuver; which it could be argued, is probably just as well.

Not that the god-awful scraping that followed would put any of the crew's hearts to rest.]

[The crew member bangs on the door, demanding Ales to stop. It's no good. The pilot has purposely pushed a table in front of the door for extra security measures. The airship continues upward as the Imperial ship tries to escape. He won't let them.

The captain is called over, and with the help of several soldiers, they begin attacking the door with their axes. A few give up, knowing that it's only a matter of seconds until the two ships collide.

A tremendous cacophony including scraping metal, broken wood, and exploding engines comes from above the 12th district. Ash and mechanical parts fall from the sky, damaging a few small buildings, but nothing close to the destruction that would have been created if the airship crashed itself.

Nothing remains of either ship.]
