[It hasn't even occurred to Bartz that popping up suddenly in front of people during a big battle might be a bit... startling. Or that any of his allies would be suspicious of such behavior.]

Yup! Here.

[He tosses Sephiroth a small device that resembles a flip phone.]

I nicked that off one of the enemy officers. They use 'em to talk to each other. I couldn't think of anything to do with it though, but I figured maybe you military types could use it?

[At least his reactions are still sharp, enabling Sephiroth to catch the device as it's thrown even if he had hardly expected anyone just to toss something his way like that; without even much of a social introduction first.

He looks down at the device, not so entirely different in terms of technology from what he knows of from his home world. A cellphone? In Crystallis. But that would mean that-

Airwaves. Portable batteries to store and utilize energy.

Long-range communication.

Sephiroth blinks and looks up to Bartz a few seconds later. Indeed, it's as if Bartz may have managed to find the one thing that might give them significantly more of a chance. If they knew the orders being given...the troop movements...they would know where to prepare...]

How did you- [The question is cast aside though as Sephiroth more keenly inspects the device.]

We might indeed be able to use it. Just-

[Another pause, as he looks over the smaller Hero of Light.]

-please, be careful.

[Bartz can't help but gape a little at that last comment. Was.... was Sephiroth actually concerned about his safety? That's... new. And odd. And somehow funny. Once the initial surprise passes, he laughs.]

Hahaha, never thought I'd hear something like that from you.

[He's actually pretty happy that warriors of Cosmos and Chaos can be allies in this world, but Sephiroth had never before struck him as the friendly type.]

But yeah, I'll be careful. Thanks.

[He's about to pop back out there for more invisible hijinks, but then he remembers something else.]

Oh, right! The Empire is setting up some kinds base outside the city. Somebody should probably try to do something about it.

[But Sephiroth doesn't even know Bartz and as such that 'friendliness' dries up instantly when Bartz laughs. Just like that he gets the serious line-face, with a frown, before he's even turned away. Sephiroth is a fraction on a mood-turn away from folding his arms but manages to refrain from doing that. He doesn't see it as being friendly, he sees it as doing his part to keep casualties to a minimum.

He'd much rather them all have left the City than stay and fight. At least soldiers he had command over, Heroes of Light are known for taking reckless risks without much forethought and Bartz does seem the type.]

[Even his tone is dry now. He expected them to do so but there really is little and less the military could do about that given their numbers. It's taking a great deal of effort to proceed with the crowd control tactic towards and around the 13th District.

Unless Bartz has anything else to say, Sephiroth turns to face the building he came out of. He is getting wet out here and -reminding himself with a squeeze around the handheld device- there is work to be done.]

No problem!

[The line face and glare combination has absolutely no effect on Bartz, who just grins cheerfully. Honestly, Squall has tried that a million times and it never worked for him either. But as that was pretty much everything he had to say, he also turns to leave.]

[He's not sure why that thought struck him just then, probably never will understand it but just as Bartz turns to leave something unrelated completely to the military-job he's got ahead of him pops in. Or perhaps its for exactly that reason, and has risen due to the fact he's taking a time out for five minutes.]

C-could I ask something further from you? As it seems you're capable-

[He peers over a shoulder, to make sure that Bartz is still there before half-turning back.]

[Wow Sephiroth is just full of surprises today. Genuinely curious, Bartz turns back around.]

[He spits the name out before his mind catches up and stops him from doing so. Then waits for that hint of recognition that should follow, before turning the rest of himself to face Bartz again.]

She didn't get out; I presume I needn't say any more?

[Another surprise. But a pleasant one. He's glad to see that Sephiroth has also made friends with Terra. He smiles brightly and nods. btw sephiroth and bartz are totes friends now.]

Yeah, I'll make sure she's okay.

[He's not sure that friendship is the correct term or not for whatever way it is he's managed to connect with Terra so it's probably just as well Bartz doesn't draw attention in that direction.]

I'm counting on you.

[Almost as if he felt responsible for making sure she was OK, even though he knows it's her choice to stay behind against his well-placed advise. Sephiroth doesn't hang around to chat anymore though, and with a single nod he heads back inside.]
